Hi Everyone!

Welcome back! I hope that you had a fun and restful March Break!

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Library day is on Friday. Please bring your book back so you can get another one.

Homework - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. It is a review week for spelling, so there are 12 words. We are starting a new unit in Math on Measurement. We will be starting with using a calendar; days of the week and months of the year. Other activities include work on reading; the main idea and answering questions from a story. Please make sure that you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

St. Patrick's Day - St. Patrick's Day is on Thursday March 17th. Wear something green if you have it.

Class Project With Texas - We did meet with our friends in Ms. Sands class before the break. Mya, Ryan and Alexis did a super job as the class and weather reporters and poetry reader. Our friends told us that flowers are in bloom and the leaves are starting to grow on the trees down there. A lot of students even had their shorts and t-shirts on. They are off this week on their March Break.

Math - We are starting a new unit on Measurement. We will be doing work with using a calendar, days of the week and months of the year. As well we will work on measuring with non-standard units. It is still important for students to keep working on their math facts and strategies at home.

Scholastic Book Orders - If you would like to order a book from the March Book Club, please have your order in by Friday.

Hi Everyone,

We are at the end of another month! I hope that everyone had a good weekend. We are into our last week of school before the March Break.

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Friday is our library day. Make sure you bring back your book so you can get another one.

Skating - The next skating day is on Thursday March 3rd. Ice time is from 9:00 - 9:40 AM. Students will need their skates and helmets. Parents and grandparents, please join us if you can.

Homework - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. The spelling words this week focus on two part words or syllables and /er/ endings. Math is a review of the concepts we have worked on in our unit on addition and subtraction. The writing focuses on ending punctuation. We have been working on using pictures for information as part of the story, so there is an activity on this. It is very important that students read each night and record their book on the log sheet.

Math - We are finishing up our unit on Addition and Subtraction to 18. We will be doing a review this week. Students can keep working on their math facts and strategies at home. Our next unit will be on measurement.

Class Project With Texas - We met with our friends on Friday and they surprised of with signs wishing us a Happy 100th Day of School! Sidney, Cayden and Callie, did a great job as the weather and class reporters and poetry reader. Our friends had big news to share! Their tulips have already bloomed! This is the earliest that they have ever bloomed there.

100th Day Of School - We celebrated our 100th Day on Friday February 26th! It was a fun day and a lot of our activities and learning focussed on the number 100. We read 100 books together, made a tower with 100 cups, counted to 100 in lots of different ways and are working on writing 100 words. The K-2 classes made a 100 quilt that looks great! We wanted to collect 100 items for the Food Bank and we counted 133. As well the classes did 100 exercises, danced for 100 seconds, sat quiet for 100 seconds and made the number 100 with all of the K-2 students.  Students shared their 100 collections. We are still working on some activities.

Hi Everyone,

I hope you had a great weekend! The temeperatures are going up and down, but are colder to start the week, so please make sure you are dressed for the weather.

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Skating - The students had fun skating on Monday. Please note that our next skating day is next Thursday March 3rd. The ice time is 9:00 - 9:40am. Students will need skates and helmets. Parents and grandparents, please join us if you can.

Library - Our library day is on Friday. Make sure you bring your book back so you can get out another one.

Homework - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words focus on the /ay/ vowel sound. Please make sure that you are reading each night and record your book on the log sheet. Make sure you use the strategies we have been working on in class. Math focuses on adding numbers in different ways and how many more. When we are reading a story, sometimes the pictures can tell some important details. Use the picture to answer the questions in the story. Word work is on using the right word endings.

Math - We are finishing up our unit on Addition and Subtraction to 18. Keep working on your facts and strategies at home. This week we are working on how many more and using mental math strategies to add three or more numbers. The 100th Day of School is coming up, so we will be working on lots of different ways to make 100.

100th Day Of School - We will be celebrating the 100th Day Of School on Thursday February 25th, providing there are no storm days in between. Each student was sent home a numbered triangle to help make our quilt. Another activity we are working on is our collection of 100 things. Bags were sent home with the students for this activity. Please send them back when you have it completed. As well we are working with the K-2 classes to collect 100 items for the Food Bank. If you can send in an item to help us out, that would be great.

Class Project With Texas - Cailin, Cadie and Rory did a great job as the reporters and poetry reader. Our friends told us they had fun on their winter break. We will meet with them again on Thursday.

Hi Everyone,

Wow! What a cold weekend we had! Please make sure you bundle up and are dressed for the weather. I hope everyone had a fun Valentine's Day!

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Spell-A-Thon Fundraiser - Just a reminder that all pledge sheets are due back on Tuesday February 16th. Please do your best to collect pledges and learn your words. All money raised goes to the Student Council to help support student activities. The Spell-A-Thon will be held on Wednesday February 17th. Good Luck Everyone!

Library - Our library day is on Friday, please bring your book back so you can get out another one.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words for the week are our Spell-A-Thon words. Math focuses on order in subtraction and using strategies. Remember when you are reading your story to make sure you answer your questions in complete sentences. Our Canadian Flag turns 51 on February 15th. Use voice in your writing to tell what the flag means to you. Please make sure you are reading your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Math - Remember to keep working on your strategies at home and your math facts. This will help you with adding and subtracting.

Class Project With Texas - Madison, Jayden and Alexis did a great job with the weather and class reports and the poem. Our friends had big news to share! Their tulips emerged! Our garden is still covered in snow. They got our valentine cards and letters in the mail.

Credit Union - School Credit Union day is on Wednesday February 10th.

Spell-A-Thon Fundraiser - Our school fundraiser is underway. Pledge sheets are due back on Tuesday February 16th and the Spell-A-Thon is on Wednesday February 17th. Please do your best to collect pledges and learn your words. All money raised goes to the Student Council to help support student activities.

Homework - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words for the week are the 20 words for the Spell-A-Thon. Remember that when you are writing to begin and end your sentences properly, add good details and use voice. The math focusses on using strategies and missing number in subtraction. Please make sure you are reading each night and tecord your book on the log sheet.

Class Project With Texas - We did two reports with our friends last week on Monday and Thursday. Ryan, Cayden, Sidney and Mya, Anna, Eddie and Riley did a great job as the reprters and poetry readers. They still do not have any snow down there, but there was one day last week that we were warmer than them. We mailed out their letters on Wednesday.

Math - Make sure you are working on your strategies and math facts. We are focussing on order in subtraction and how many more are there.

Valentines Day - Our class will be having a Valentines exchange on Friday February 12th. Students can bring their valentines in to exchange with their classmates.

Flag Day - Monday February 15th will be Red and White Day. Students and staff are asked to wear red and white on Monday in honour of our flag's birthday.

Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a great weekend and got outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and have some fun! It is hard to believe that we are starting the month of February! It is a busy month, so check back to keep up to date with what is going on.

Phys. Ed -  Our Phys. Ed days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Our library day is on Friday, so make sure you bring your book so you can get another one.

Spell-A-Thon Fundraiser - Our major school fundraiser will take place during the month of February. The kick off assembly will be on Monday February 1st. This will also be School Colours Day. Fundraising packs will go home on Monday, so watch for this information.

Homework - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words will be the ones for the Spell-A-Thon. Math focuses on finding the missing number and using strategies to help. We are working more on reading comprehension and reading for details. There is a story for the students to read and they must answer the questions in complete sentences. We are continuing to work on using voice in our writing, so students are to use that in their writing piece. Please make sure you are reading your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Math - We are continuing with our unit on addition and subtraction to 18. Students should keep working on their math facts and strategies at home. We are focussing this week on finding the missing number in addition and subtraction.

Class Project With Texas - We did not get to do our report this week, as Ms. Sands was out sick. We are hoping to do 2 reports this week. We were busy working on our letters and valentine's cards to send them. We are sending them out on Wednesday.

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - We have library on Friday. Please remember to bring your book back, so you can get out another one.

Skating - We have skating at the Civic Center on Thursday January 28th. Our ice time is 9:45 - 10:25AM. Make sure you have your skates and helmets. Parents and grandparents, please join us if you can.

Homework - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week focus on word endings - Adding /s/ at the end when there is more than one. Math focus is on equal and unequal and using the right signs and order in addition. We are working on using voice with our 6+1 Writing Traits. Make sure you use some voice in your writing.

Math - We have been working on adding and subtracting to 18. Please make sure you are working on your strategies and math facts at home. At school we have been working a lot on doubles and making 10.

Class Project With Texas - We had our weekly session with our friends in Ms. Sands class on Thursday. Hunter, Callie and Jayden did a super job as the weather reporter, class reporter and poetry reader. Our friends were interested in what things we had to wear for the cold weather here. Riley dressed up in her winter clothes to show the. They were surprised at how much she had to put on. None of them had to wear snowpants or mittens to school that day!

Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a fun weekend and were able to get outside to play. There is lots of snow on the playground and we have been having some colder temperatures, so please make sure that you are dressed for the weather.

Scholastic Book Orders - If you would like to order a book from the January Book Club, please have your orders in by Thursday January 21st.

Homework - Our spelling words this week focus on the /oo/ /ou/ /o/ vowel sounds that say /u/ and the long /i/ vowel sounds that have a /y/ as the vowel. We are working on using voice in our writing so the writing activity involves using voice to let your reader know how you feel about the topic. In Math we are working on word problems and fact families. Please make sure that you are reading each night and record your book on the log sheet.

Math - We are working on a unit of Addition and Subtraction to 18. Please work on the facts and strategies sheet that we sent home. These will help with adding and subtracting quickly. This week we will be focussing on fact families and equal and unequal.

Hi Everyone!

Welcome Back and Happy New Year! We are looking forward to a new year of learning and fun!

Math - We have started our new unit on Addition and Subtraction to 18. This week we sent home a sheet with strategies we are using in class along with math facts to learn. Students can be working on these each night. These will help with adding and subtracting quickly.

Homework - Our Homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week focus on the long /i/ bossy /e/ vowels. In math we are working on using pictures for adding and subtracting, word problems and adding and subtracting 0. We have started a new writing trait and that is using voice in our writing. Using voice lets your reader know how you feel about a topic.

Class Project With Texas - We reconnected with our friends this week. Cadie, Madison and Eddie did a super job as the class reporter, weather reporter and poetry reader. They did not have any snow for Christmas. They did have some very dangerous weather close to Dallas with tornadoes over the holidays. Can you believe that they only planted their tulips on Thursday January 7th? That's three months after we planted ours!

 Hi Everyone, I hope you had a great weekend! It is hard to believe that this is our last week of school before the Christmas holidays. Please make sure you are dressed for the weather.     Christmas Concert Our school Christmas Concert is on Wednesday December 16th. The K-2 students have their concert at 12:15PM and the 3-8 concert is at 9:30AM. We hope to see you there.     Christmas Spirit Week The Student Council has organized theme days this week. Monday - Christmas Sweater/Shirt Day Tuesday - Jersey Day Wednesday - Christmas Concert                            Thursday - Christmas Hat Day                             Friday - PJ and Crazy Hair DayStudents are asked to bring in an item for the Food Bank to participate in the activities for the week.  Class Project With Texas We had a great connnection on Friday for our weekly report. The students were excited to talk with their friends again. Alexis, Anna and Rory did a fantastic job as the weather and class reporters and poetry reader.We mailed out their Christmas cards and ornaments on Wednesday. We are working on a shared writing about our Christmas Traditions.  Math We are finishing up our unit on Numbers to 100. The students have found out about comparing and ordering numbers. Make sure you keep working on counting in different ways and counting with money at home. In January we will start working on Addition and Subtraction.  Homework/Borrow-A-Book The homework for the week is listed in the blue folders. This is a review week for the spelling words. Hi Everyone, Welcome Back! I hope you had a fun weekend and got outside to enjoy the snow! Please make sure you are dressed for the weather, so you can have fun outside.    Phys. Ed Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.     Christmas Dinner Our annual school Christmas Dinner will be on Wednesday December 9th. If students did not order the dinner they will have to bring their lunch on that day.  Skating We have skating on Thursday December 10th. Our ice time is 9:45 - 10:35. Students need their skates and helmet to go on the ice. Please check with me if you need skates or a helmet as we do have some extra here at the school. Parents and grandparents are welcome to join us on the ice.   Food Drive Our school is still collecting items for the Food Bank until December 11th. If you can bring in an item that would be great.   Christmas Shoppe The Home and School will be hosting their annual Christmas Shoppe for the students on December 8th. Students will be able to go up and purchase gifts for their parents and have them wrapped.    Math We are continuing with our unit on Numbers to 100. This week we are working on equal and unequal sets, comparing and ordering numbers. At home you can still work on counting in different wyas and count with money.  Homework/Borrow-A-Book Our spelling words this week focus on the /ee/ vowel sound. Please make sure you read each night and record your book on the log sheet. Math focusses on equal and unequal sets and comparing numbers. Our writing this week is on Christmas Traditions. As part of our project with our school in Texas, we exchange a shared writing about our family traditions. Please share a family Christmas Tradition with us.  Class Project With Texas We connected with our friends again on Thursday. They enjoyed their Thanksgiving Break and time with their family. We sent them the pictures of our Play With Your Food Art Show. Cadie, Jayden, Mya and Madison did a super job as the weather and class reporters and poetry readers. The students did a wonderful job with their projects and the display was amazing! They are in the process now of writing a story about the character they made.  Hi Everyone! I hope you enjoyed your days off. Please make sure you are dressed for the weather.     Phys. Ed Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.     Library Our library day is on Friday. Please make sure you bring your book back so you can get another one.   Play With Your Food Art Show 2D, 2S and 3H will be hosting our 9th annual Play With Your Food Art Show. Our 3 classes are partnered with 3 classes at St. John's Episcopal School in Dallas, Texas. The Art Show is one of the activities with our project. The students there did their show in October and we shared our Thanksgiving in Canada with them. We will be having our show this week and they are having their Thanksgiving and will share what they did with us. Our show will be on Wednesday November 25th. A memo went home with the students to explain the project. Students are to make their character out of a piece of fruit or vegetable. Check at home for items that are getting old or bruised. We will be sending home the black eyed peas, that you can use for eyes on Tuesday. The characters are to be made on Tuesday, as they can only be done the day before the show. Students are asked to bring their character to school on Wednesday. Parents are invited to come to the school after 10:00 am to view the display. Thank you for your support with this project. Please call us at the school if you have any questions.  Math We are continuing our work with our unit on Numbers to 100. We are now working on 10s and 1s and place value. Keep working on counting in different ways and counting with money.   Homework/Borrow-A-Book The homework for the week is listed in the blue folders. Our spelling words for the week focus on the /o/ and /e/ vowel sounds. The math is on 10s and 1s and place value. We are working on the organization writing trait, so our writing focuses on telling things in order when we write.    Class Project With Texas We were able to have 2 reports last week, on Monday and Wednesday. Ryan, Cayden and Riley did a great job on Monday as our reporters and poetry reader. On Wednesday, Ben, Callie and Sidney did a wonderful job as our reporters and poetry reader. The students enjoyed connecting with our friends and learning about the weather and some news about tornadoes. Our friends are off school this week as they celebrate Thanksgiving.   Hi Everyone! I hope you had a good weekend! The days are getting colder and the mornings are even cooler. Please make sure you are dressed for the weather and you have your hats and mittens.     Phys. Ed Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.      Report Cards/ Parent Teacher Report cards will go home on Tuesday. Parent Teacher Interviews are: Thursday 4:00 - 6:00 PM and Friday 9:00 - 11:30 AM.There is no school for students on Friday November 20th.  Skating Our first skating day this year will be on Thursday November 19th. We will be skating with our buddies in 5S. Students need to have skates and helmets to go on the ice. If you need skates we do have some extra at the school, so please let me know. Parents are welcome to join us if you can.  Math In Math we are doing some work with 10s and 1s and place value. You can still work on counting in different ways and count with money at home.   Homework/Borrow-A-Book The homework for the week is listed in the blue folders. Our spelling words this week focus on words with /ar/ sound in them. Math sheets are on estimation. We have done a lot of work in class on this. Please make sure you are reading each night and using the strategies we have been working on. Remember to record your book on the log sheet.  Class Project With Texas We were unable to meet with our friends last week because they could not connect with us. We did our report today (Monday) instead. Ryan, Cayden and Riley did a super job as the weather and class reporters and poetry reader. We are going to meet again on Wednesday because they are off next week for their Thanksgiving holiday.  Play With Your Food Art Show We will be having our annual Play With Your Food Art Show next week on November 25th. This is one of the activities we do with our friends in Texas. We will be discussing the project in class and reading books about it. A memo will go home this week to explain the project. You can also check the image galleries on our class page and the school page for pictures of past shows.   Food Drive We are still collecting items for the Food Bank.  Hi Everyone! I hope you had a fun weekend and enjoyed the nice weather we had.      Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.       Library We have library on Friday. Make sure your bring your book back so you can get another one.   Remembrance Day Service Our school Remembrance Day Service is on Tuesday November 10th, at 10:00AM. Please join us if you can. Students are asked to bring in a donation for a poppy.     Remembrance Day Remembrance Day is on Wednesday November 11th. There is no school on this day. Please take some time to remember those brave men and women who fought for our freedom and for those still serving our country today. Lest We Forget.   Homework/Borrow-A-Book The homework for the week is listed in the blue folders. Our spelling words this week focus on the short /u/ vowel sound. The writing this week is about Remembrance Day. We have done a lot of activitiies with this and have read stories about why we have Remembrance Day and why we wear a poppy. Make sure your writing has good details. Math is a review of the concepts we have been working on so far in our unit on Numbers to 100. Please make sure you read each night, use the strategies we have been working on, and record your book on the log sheet.  Math In math we are starting to work on estimation with numbers to 100.  When we estimate, we make a good guess of about how many things we think there are in a group. Sometimes it can help to make a small group of the items first and then estimate about how many. You can still work at home on counting money, especially a group of different coins. Keep working on counting in different ways.  Class Project With Texas Eddie, Alexis and Hunter did a wonderful job as the; weather reporter, class news reporter and poetry reader. Our friends received our letters in the mail and were very happy to get them. They are working on writing our letters now. We can't wait to get them! We will Skype with them again on Thursday for our weekly report.   Food Bank Our school is collecting items for the Food Bank until Christmas Break.
