Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your family!

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Our library day is on Tuesday. Make sure you bring your book back so you can sign out another one.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week focus on the short /e/ vowel sound and the word work activity is on this too. In Math we are working on 2D shapes, counting in different ways and comparing and ordering numbers to 20. Please make sure that you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Credit Union Day - School Credit Union Day is on Wednesday October 10th.

I hope you had a great weekend! The days are getting cooler, especially the mornings so make sure you are dressed for the weather.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our week 2 spelling words focus on the short /i/ vowel sound and the word work activity is on this too. We are still working on making sure sentences tell a whole idea and that they begin and end the right way. In Math we are ordering and comparing numbers to 20 and counting in different ways. Please make sure you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Thanksgiving Day - Monday October 8th - No School.

Hi Everyone!

Library - Our library day is on Tuesday. Make sure you bring your book back, so you can sign out another one.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. This week we will be starting our spelling program. The focus this week is on the short /a/ vowel sound. The word work activity will be on this as well. In math we are working on describing patterns in more than one way and counting forwards and backwards in different ways. We are still working on writing sentences the right way, adding details and beginning and ending each sentence properly. Please make sure you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Terry Fox Walk - Our annual Terry Fox School Walk will take place on Thursday September 27th at 1:00PM. Students are asked to please bring in a donation if you can.

Picture Retakes/Sibling Pictures - Picture retakes will be on Thursday September 27th. Also on this day they will be taking sibling pictures. Please sign and return the form that was sent home if you would like to have a picture done.

Orange Shirt Day - We will be observing Orange Shirt Day on Friday September 28th. Students and staff are asked to wear orange in awareness of residential schools.

School Supply Fee/Student-Agenda Fee - Just a reminder to please send in the school supply fee of $20.00 and the Student-Agenda fee of $10.00 if you have not already done so.

Library - Our library day is on Tuesday. Make sure you return your book so you can sign out a new one.

Meet The Teacher - Our Meet The Teacher evening will be held on Wednesday September 18th at 5:00PM.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folder. In math we are working on patterns and counting in different ways. We are starting to get back into our writing every day, but students need to remember that sentences need to begin and end the right way. We have an activity on writing sentences and one on vowels. Please make sure that you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet. This week we are continuing with sight words and we will start our spelling words next week. With sight words the students should be able to read them without hesitation.

School Supply Fee/ Student-Agenda Fee - Just a reminder to please send in the money for the school supplies for the year which was $20.00 and the Student/Agenda Fee which was $10.00 for K-2, if you have not already done so.

Grandparents Tea - Thank you to all grandparents and guests who came to our Tea on Friday! We had a great crowd and the students put on a great show!

Terry Fox Walk - Our annual Terry Fox Walk will be held on Friday September 21st at 1:00PM.

Hi Everyone!

We had a great first week and are getting settled into class and school routines. The last couple of mornings were a little cool, so you might want to being a sweater or jacket with you in case you need it.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - Our Homework and Borrow-A-Book programs will begin on Monday. Students will be bringing a book to read each night along with their homeowrk folder. Please return the book and folder to school each day.

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Our library day will be on Tuesday and our first one will begin this week. Students will be able to sign out a book each week that they can take home for the week. Please make sure the book is returned every Tuesday, so they can take out another one.

Grandparents Tea - Our annual Grandparents Tea will be held on Friday September 14th at 9:00AM. All gradparents are welcome to attend. If your child's grandparent can't attend, then we ask that you have someone else to come for them.

School Supply Fee/ Student/Agenda Fees - Just a reminder that the cost for the students school supplies was $20.00. Materials were purchased for the year that the students will need. Please send in this fee when you can if you have not already done so. As well there is an Agenda/Student Fee of $10.00 or a maximum of $40.00 per family. Please note that this is separate from the school supply fee. Please send this in when you can if you have not already done so.

Welcome To Grade 2!!!

It's hard to believe that we have started another school year! We are off to a good start and are getting settled into our new class and routine and meeting our new classmates.

This week we have lots of Memos and information slips going home. Some are sheets for you to keep and others are ones that need to be filled out and returned to school. Those that need to be returned will be found on the Bring Back side of the green folders. Please check the folders each day so that you are sure to recieve any important information.

Picture Day - School picture day is on Thursday September 6th for K-5.

Our class page will be updated weekly, so make sure you keep checking in.

Hi Evryone!

I hope you had a fun weekend! It is hard to believe, but we are at our last week of school!

Credit Union - School Credit Union Day is on Monday June 18th.

K-2 Sports Day - Our annual K-2 Sports Day will be held at the school on Tuesday June 19th. We will be ordering pizza on that day. If you don't like pizza you will have to bring your lunch. Please return the slip on Monday. Students will need to wear their sneakers for Sports Day and they might want to bring a water bottle and a hat.

Grade 2 Field Trip - Our Grade 2 classes will be going to Beaubears Island on Wednesday June 20th. A memo will go home regarding the trip on Monday. Students will have to bring their lunch on Wednesday as we will be eating on the Island.

Last Day Of School - The last day of school is on Friday June 22nd. Please note that it is a half day and dismissal will be at 11:30AM.

Library - All library books should be back now. If you still have one at home, please bring it in.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - Homework this week is reading each night. It is very important that students continue to read each night. Please read your book and ecord it on the log sheet.

Class Project With Texas - We have finished another great year with our friends in Dallas, Texas. The students really enjoyed the activities we worked on and getting to meet weekly with our friends using Skype.

Hello Everyone!

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Our library day is Tuesday, so make sure you bring your book back.

Literacy Assessment - Just a reminder that the Grade 2 students will be writing their Literacy Assessment from May 22 - June 1st. The reading part is provincial and the district will be doing the writing part. This will be done during the first part of the mornings in our Literacy Block.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the gray folders. Our spelling words focus on question words and the word work activity is on these words as well. In math we are working on adding 2 digit numbers. We have been using the strategy;add the tens, make another ten if you can and add on the ones. For reading comprehension we have a poem about caterpillars. Read carefully and find the answers in the poem. Please make sure that you read each night and record your book on the log sheet.

Class Project With Texas - We met with our friends on Thursday and Sydney, Luther and Isabella did an awesome job as the poetry reader and weather and class reporters. Our tulips are all in bloom now. We finished our letters and mailed them to our friends. We also wrote and illustrated a book for them called If You Give A Wolf Some Watermelon. The students did an excellent job with this! Our friends are done of school on Friday May 25th!

Jump Rope For Heart - If you are collecting pledges for this the pledge sheets must be in on Friday May 25th. Jump Day will be on Friday June 1st.

Hello Everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and  had a special Mother's Day with your mom!

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Book Fair - The Book Fair will take place this week in the library. Monday -Wednesday 9:00 -3:00PM. Wednesday Night is Family Night from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Thursday it is open from 9:00 - 12:00PM.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the gray folders. This week our spelling words focus on /ed/ endings. In Math we are working on adding 2 digit numbers and adding 10s. The word work activity is on our spelling words and /ed/ endings. Take your time when you are doing the reading comprehension story. Read carefully, find the answers in the story and highlight or underline them. Make sure you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Class Project With Texas - We met with our friends on Friday. They are having some very warm temperatures. They finish school on May 25th! We had big news to share with them, our tulips have bloomed!! They are beautiful!! Carter, Travis, Quintin and Luther did a great job as the weather and class reporters and poetry readers. We are working on their letters now.

Make sure that you are reading your book each night and record it on the log sheet. We are working on measurement in Math and continuing with our reading comprehension stories.

No School - Please note that there is no school for students on Thursday May 3rd and Friday May 4th.

Class Project With Texas - We did not meet with our friends this week, because they were doing testing and had their Games Day on Friday. We will meet with them on Monday. Big news! Our tulips have finally emerged! We went out to check the garden on Tuesday and they were coming up even through the ice and snow! Now we will watch and wait for them to bloom.

Spring Spirit Week - This kicked off on Friday with School Colours Day. Other theme days are Monday - PJ Day; Tuesday - Crazy Hair Day; Wednesday - Twin Day.

Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a fun weekend and enjoyed the nice weather. It looks like we might finally be getting some spring temperatures!

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days are on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Library day is on Tuesday, so bring your book back, so you can sign out a new one.

Play - We will be travelling to JMH on Monday April 23rd to see the play Into The Woods. Students are asked to bring in $2.00 to help cover the cost if they can.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the grey folders. Our spelling words for the week focus on contractions and the word work activity does as well. We continue to work on estimation in Math and this week we will start working on measurement using non-standard units. Students can keep working on their strategies and facts as well. When you are doing your reading comprehension story, make sure that you use the strategies we have been working on. Read the story twice; read the question; find the answer in the story; underline or highlight the answers; circle the answer. Go back and read again if you can't remember. Please make sure that you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Half Day - Just a reminder that Wednesday April 25th is a half day for students, as it is a Professional Learning Day for teachers. Dismissal will be at 11:30AM.

Class Project With Texas - We met with our friends on Friday. Sydney, Grayson and Riley B., did an awesome job as the class and weather reporters and poetry reader. We are still learning lots of different things about each other. They are having beautiful spring weather, everything is in bloom and they were out for a picnic on Thursday! We hope we will be enjoying that kind of weather soon! We are really tired of our snow suits!!

Earth Day/Taking Care of the Environment - We are finding out lots of information about ways we can help take care of the environment and protect our resources so they are always here. We all have to do our part to help out! The students did a great job with bringing a litterless lunch on Friday. That is something we can try to do every day. Turning off the tap when you brush your teeth, and turning off the lights when you leave the room are two little things that could turn out to be a big help if everyone does it!

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the grey folders. Our spelling words this week focus on compound words. Two little words that make up one big word. The word work activity is on compound words as well. In Math we have started working on estimation. When we estimate we make a good guess on about how many there are. We continue to work on adding, subtraction and counting in different ways. There is a sheet on counting on by 10s using dimes. We are working on reading comprehension stories. As Earth Day is coming up, there is a story about that and questions to answer. Remember to use the strategies we are working on: Read the story twice; read the questions; find the answer in the story and highlight or underline it; circle the right answer. Please make sure you are reading your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Collaborative Project With Dallas, Texas - We met with our friends on Thursday. Brooke and Kian did a super job as the class and weather reporters. The class did two poems together: What The Robin Told and It's Time For Spring! They did a fabulous job! Our friends got our letters. They loved the pictures we sent them with all the snow. They sent us a video of the tulips in bloom!! We will have to wait a while to see our garden in bloom! We checked the Journey North Map and there are many gardens in the USA, Canada and around the world that have already emerged or bloomed. The ones that are farther north are still waiting.

Math Games - The math games will go home again on Tuesday. Please return them on Thursday. Make sure that all the pieces are put back in the bag and you sign the log sheet. Have fun!

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the grey folders. Our spelling words this week focus on base words and word endings /ing/ and /s/. The word work activity is on choosing the right word to make the sentence sound right, using the right word ending. In math we continue to work on equal and unequal using the symbols. We are doing more work with reading comprehension strategies. Students will have a story to read and then answer multiple choice questions. Remember to use all parts of the story; go back and read again and underline the answers in the story. It is important that students read each night and record their book on the log sheet.

Reports - The second term reports go home on Tuesday April 10th.

Parent Teach Interviews - Parent Teacher days are on Thursday 4:00 - 6:30PM and Friday 9:00 - 11:30AM.

No School - There is no school for students on Friday April 13th.

Math Games - We will start sending home Math Games this week. The games will go home on Tuesday and are to be returned on Thursday. These are games you can play with your family and also work on some outcomes we have doing in class. The games will go home for the next 4-5 weeks. Have fun!

Class Project With Texas - We met with our friends on Thursday. Keegan, Isabella and Calleigh did a great job as the weather and class reporters and poetry reader. Our friends are very surprised that we are still getting snow storms. They are having some very warm days. We mailed out our letters so they should get tehm this week.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. This week we are sending home the list of grade 2 sight words you can keep working on. There are many we have already had, but some new ones too. This will be a good review. Circle or highlight the ones you don't know and keep working on them. We have been working on equal and unequal in Math and using the right sign. The Math homework is on this outcome. Reading comprehension is very important and we continue to work on strategies to help. Using all parts of the story is important. Sometimes the answers can be in the picture and title too. This week we are focusing on using the picture for details. Please make sure that you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

No School - Wednesday March 28th is a PLD for teachers so there is no school for students.

Class Project With Texas - We reconnected with our friends this week after we both had our March Breaks. Luther, Keegan, Rileigh W. and Ella did an awesome job as the weather and class reporters and poetry readers. Our friends were very surprised to hear about all the snow we got. They had no snow in Texas this year! We got their letters and they made really nice bookmarks for all of us. We are working on their letters now. We did get out to check on our tulip garden. Still covered in snow with very high hills all around it!

Easter Holiday - There is no school on Good Friday March 30th and Easter Monday April 2nd.
