Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a fun weekend and enjoyed the nice weather! The students had a lot of fun at our Halloween costume parade on Friday!

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Our library day is on Tuesday, make sure you bring your book back so you can sign out another one.

Homework / Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. This week is a review week for our spelling words, so there are 12. The word work is on blends and vowel sounds for Halloween words. In Math we are working on 2D shapes and place value. Please make sure that you are reading each night and record your book on the log sheet.

Class Project With Dallas, Texas - Quintin, Isabella and Grayson did a super job as the weather and class reporters and poetry reader when we did our weekly meeting on Thursday. We planted our tulip garden and our friends told us that they have to keep the tulips in the fridge to keep cold, because the ground is too hot. They won't be planting them until December! They mailed out our first letters. We can't wait to get them!

Black and Orange Day - Tuesday October 31st is Halloween Day, students are asked to wear black and orange.

Hi Everyone!

What another beautiful weekend we had. I hope you got outside to play and enjoy the nice weather. The mornings have been chilly, so please make sure that you are dressed for the weather.

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Our library day is on Tuesday. Bring your book back so you can sign out another one.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words focus on the short /u/ vowel sound and the word work activity is on this vowel too. In Math we are working on ordering and comparing numbers, even and odd numbers and place value. We have been working on adding good details to our work. When you write your sentences about Halloween, make sure you add some good details. Please read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Class Project With Texas - We had a good meeting with our friends on Thursday. Carter, Ella and Travis did a super job as our weather and class reporters and poetry reader. Our friends really liked our class letter we sent them. As part of our project, we are both planting a tulip garden. We planted our garden with Mrs. Dickson's and Ms. Hackett's classes on Friday. We will be comparing our gardens along with others around the world.

School Credit Union Day - Tueday October 24th.

Half Day/ Early Dismissal - Wednesday October 25th is a half day for students as it is a Professional Learning Day for teachers. Dismissal is at 11:30am.

Pumpkin Carving Contest - If you would like to carve a pumpkin at home you can bring it to school on Thursday October 26th for the contest.

Halloween Costume Parade - We will be having an assembly for the K-8 classes on Friday afternoon. Students can bring thier costume to school with them.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week focus on the short /o/ vowel sound. The word work is using the /ot/ family and short vowel sounds we have worked on so far. We are working on the 6+1 Writing Traits and learning that details are important. When you are writing your sentences about fall make sure you add lots of good details. In math we are working on even and odd numbers and comparing and ordering numbers to 20. Please make sure that you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Class Project With Texas - We met with our friends on Thursday for our weekly report. Ava, Ethan and Kian did a great job as the weather and class reporters and the poetry reader. We finished our class letter of introduction and sent it to them. Now we are working on our shared writing about Thanksgiving in Canada.

The word work activity is on the /et/ and /ed/ word families. We are starting to work on even and odd numbers to 20 and comparing numbers to 20. Please make sure that you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Class Project with Dallas, Texas - We had our second Skype session. Rileigh, Grayson and Keegan did a geat job as our weather and class reporters and poetry reader. We are working on a shared writing about Thanksgiving in Canada and we hope to plant our tulips this week.

Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a fun weekend and enjoyed the sunshine! The weather is getting cooler in the mornings, so please make sure you dress for the weather.

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Library day is on Tuesday. Make sure you bring your book back, so you can sign out another one.

Book Orders - Scholastic book order forms are going home on Monday. If you would like to order a book from the October list please send your order form and money back by Thursday October 5th.

Homework/ Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is recorded in the orange folders. The spelling words this week focus on the short /i/ vowel sound. Our word work is working on the short /i/ vowel sound too. We have started working on the 6+1 writing traits and we are starting with ideas. You have to have a main idea and then add good details to go with it. When you are writing, make sure that your sentences begin and end the right way. In Math we are working on collecting data and ordering numbers to 20. Please make sure that you are reading each night and record your book on the log sheet.

Class Project With Dallas, Texas - We have started working on our project with our partner class in Dallas, Texas. We had our first weekly report on Thursday through Skype. The students got to meet and say hello to their pen pals. Sydney and Brooke did a great job as our weather and class reporters. We received their class letter and found out lots of things about them. We are working on our class letter of introduction and will send it out this week.

Thanksgiving Day - Monday October 9th. There is no school on this day. Have a wonderful holiday with your family.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - This week we are starting our spelling program. The focus for our words this week is the short /a/ vowel sound. We will continue to send home the sight word sheets. Send them back signed when you know them. The word work will be on the spelling words and word families. When you are writing your senteces, remember to use the pictures, add good details and begin and end the sentences the right way. For Math we have work on patterns and counting in different ways. Please make sure that you read each night and record your book on the log sheet.

Wednesday September 27th - Half Day for students, dismissal will be at 11:30am. This is a PLD for teachers.

Terrry Fox Walk - We will be taking part in the National School Terry Fox Walk on Thursday September 28th at 1:00pm. Please bring $2.00 or any donation if you can,

Orange Shirt Day - Friday September 29th is Orange Shirt Day in honour of Residential School Survivors. Students and staff are asked to wear an orange shirt on this day.

Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a fun weekend!

Fred Fox Visit - We were very honoured to have Fred Fox visit our school on Thursday September 14th. He shared stories about his brother Terry and talked about The Marathon Of Hope and the difference that Terry made.

Grandparents Day Tea - We had a wonderful turnout for our Grandparents Day Tea on Friday September 15th. The students did an amazing job with their poems ans songs. Thank you to all grandparents and parents for coming! 

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Our library day is on Tuesday. Students will be able to sign out a book to take home for the week.

Credit Union Day - The first Credit Union day this year is on Tuesday September 19th.

School Pictures - If you would like to place orders for school pictures, the envelopes are due back with payment by Wednesday September 20th.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the Orange folders. We are continuing to work on our sight word lists. When you know all the words on the sheet send it back signed and we will send home a new one. We have been working on patterns in Math, finding the core of the pattern, being able to tell what comes next and making a pattern in more than one way. This week we have word work focussing on vowel sounds and writing detailed sentences that begin and end properly. Please make sure that you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Meet The Teacher - We will be having our annual Meet The Teacher night on Thursday September 21st at 5:00pm. The Home and School will be hosting a BBQ. Hope to see everyone there.

Hi Everyone!

We had a great start to the year and are getting settled into our class and school routines! I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Our library day will be on Tuesday. Students will be able to sign out a book to take home for the week.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book Programs - These will begin on Monday Sept. 11th. The students will have a book to read each night. Please make sure that you read and record your book on the log sheet. We will be doing a sight word review for the first 2 weeks and then begin our spelling program after that. Students will get a word list starting Monday and they can return it for a new sheet when they can read all the words. Look for the Memo going home on Monday with more information on these programs.

Grandparents Day Tea - Our K-2 classes will be hosting our annual Grandparent's Day Tea on Friday September 15th at 9:00am. All grandparents are welcome to attend.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week focus on compound words. In Math we are working on adding 10s and 2 digit numbers. Please keep working on your facts and strategies at home. When you are doing the reading comprehension story, make sure you read carefully and use the strategies we have been working on. It is very important that you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Collaborative Project with Dallas, Texas - We met with our friends in Ms. Sands class on Wednesday. Eria, Novalee, Katelyn and Evan did a great job as the weather and class reporters and poetry reader. We are starting our last letters to them and working on our class book. Our title is: If You Give A Robin Some Raspberries.

You and Your World/Life Cycles - We will be getting our caterpillars this week, that will allow the students to observe the life cycle of a butterfly. This is a great opportunity to observe each satge as it happens. The students will be observing and recording their observations.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week are focusing on /ing/ endings. Sometimes we have to drop the /e/ and add /ing/ and sometimes the last letter is doubled. In Math we are startting a new unit on adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers. This week we are working on equal and unequal and adding 10s. Please keep working on your facts and strategies at home. When you are doing the reading comprehension story, make sure you read the story carefully and use the strategies we have been working on. Make sure you read each night and record your book on the log sheet.

Class Project With Texas - We have big news! Our tulips have emerged! We went out to check our garden on Thursday and they were coming up out of the snow. Katelyn, Eria, Isabel and Novalee did a super job as the weather and class reporters and poetry reader when we met with our friends on Thursday. They are having some very warm weather days down there and were surprised to hear that we had snow!

Beauty and the Beast - The K-5 classes will be travelling to JMH High School on Wednesday April 26th in the morning to see the play Beauty and the Beast. Please bring $2.00 to help with the cost if you can.

No School - Friday April 28th is a Professional Learning Day , so there is no school for students.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words are the same list as last week, as we did not have many days to work on them. We are working on/ing/ word endings and reviewing words beginning with/th/. In math we are finishing up our unit on measurement. When you are working on the reading comprehension story, make sure you read carefully and use the strategies we have been working on. Read the story more than once; highlight or underline the answers in the story; go back and reread if you can't remember; look for clues; use all the information, title, author, picture and read everything. Please make sure that you read each night and record your book on the log sheet.

Class Project With Texas - We talked with our friends on Thursday. Tyler, Evan and Whittney did a great job with the class and weather reports and poetry reading. They got our letters in time for Easter. Now we are working on our book to send them. The book they made us is called, If You Give A Wolf A Waffle. We are still waiting for our tulips to emerge.

Math Games - Don't forget to play your math game with your family and return it on Thursday.

We are starting to get some warmer temperatures, but the mornings are still cool. Please make sure you are dressed for the weather.

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed Days this week are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Library - Library day is on Wednesday. Please make sure you bring your book back so you can sign out another one.

Homework - The homework for the week is listed in the orange notebooks. Our spelling words this week focus on /ing/ word endings, as well as /th/ beginning words. When you are doing the reading comprehension stories, make sure that you read carefully and answer each question. Use the strategies we have been working on. Go back and read again; Find the answer in the story and underline it; Look for the clues. In math we are working on measurement with non-standard units. Please make sure that you read each night and record your book on the log sheet.

Math - Please make sure that you continue to work on your strategies; ways to make 10; doubles; one more, two more; one less, two less; adding on. Keep working on your math facts.

Class Project With Texas - We did our weekly report with our friends in Ms. Sands class. Hannah, Cameron and Alissa did a great job as the class and weather reporters and poetry reader. We mailed our letters to them on Tuesday. They are having some really warm spring days. The leaves are growing on the trees and the flowers are in bloom. We are working on our project with the Laura Numeroff books. We will be making our own class book to send to them.

Yearbook Orders - Thursday April 13th is the last day to order a yearbook. The cost is $20.00.

Math Games - Just a reminder that our Math Games go home on Tuesdays and they are due back on Thursday. This is a good chance to work on adding and subtraction and have some fun playing them with your family. Please sign the log sheet and make sure all the pieces go back into the bags or boxes.

No School - There is no school on Good Friday April 14th and Easter Monday April 17th.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words for this week are the Spell-A-Thon words. We will have a pre-test on Friday. In math we are working on order in addition and fact families. The word work is find the missing word with our Spell-A-Thon words. Please make sure that you are reading your book each night and recording it on the log sheet. Use your strategies to help with unknown words.

Flag Day - Wednesday February 15th is Flag Day. Wear red and white to celebrate our Canadian flag.

Spell-A-Thon Fundraiser - As a result of the storm days we are extending the dates for our fundraiser. Monday February 20th - All pledge sheets are due. Wednesday February 22nd - Spell-A-Thons will be held in each class. Monday February 27th - Corrected tests and pledge sheets will go home - Collect pledge money. Friday March 3rd - All pledge money is due back.

Class Project With Texas - We met with our friends on Thursday. Whittney, Isabel and Hannah did a fantastic job as the weather and class reporters and the poetry reader. Our friends were wishing that they had some of our snow. They didn't have any yet this winter!
