Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a great weekend! Please make sure you are dressed for the weather.

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Our library day is on Tuesday. Make sure you bring your book back so you can sign out another one.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words are the words for the Spell-A-Thon. Please go over each night. We will be working on them each day at school as well. The word work activity is using the Spell-A-Thon words too. We have started working on the voice trait with writing and using voice in our writing. What would you do if you were a snowman? How would you feel? What would it be like? Remember to add good details. In math we are working on adding and subtracting using strategies, order in addition and fact families. Please make sure that you read your book each night and record it on the log sheeet.

Book Orders - If you would like to order a book from the Scholastic Book Club, please have your order in by Thursday February 7th.

Spell-A-Thon Fundraiser - We had our Spell-A-Thon kick off on Thursday. This is our major fundraiser for the year. Students are asked to collect pledges and learn the words. All pledge sgeets are due back on Wednesday February 13th and the Spell-A-Thon is on Friday February 15th.

Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a fun weekend! We had a lot of messy weather, so please make sure you are dressed for the weather. It would be a good idea to keep an extra pair of socks and mittens in your book bag in case you need them.

No School - Just a reminder that there is no school for students on Monday January 28th as it is a PLD for teachers.

Skating - We have skating with our buddy class 3-4T on Tuesday January 29th. Students will need their skates and helmet. Parents and grandparents are welcome to come, but please note that you need skates to be on the ice.

Our word work activity will be on blends. In math we are working on adding and subtracting and word problems. Remember to use the strategies we have been working on to help with the adding and subtracting. Please make sure you are reading your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Spell-A-Thon - We will have our Spell-A-Thon Fundraiser kick off on Thursday January 31st. Students will receive their information packs on this day. It is also School Colours Day, so students are asked to wear school clothing or colours.

Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a good weekend and were able to stay warm during the storm! We will have lots more snow on the playground and we have been having some very cold temperatures as well, so please make sure that you are dressed for the weather.

Library - We have library on Tuesday, so make sure you bring your book back so you can sign out another one.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - Our homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. The spelling words this week focus on the /ou/ /o/ and /oo/ vowel sounds that say /u/, like to, do and you and /y/ at the end of the word that says /i/ like try and my. The word work activty is on this as well. More work is still needed with blends, so there is an activity on this. In Math we are working on using startegies to help with adding and subtracting and solving word problems. Please make sure that you are reading each night and record your book on the log sheet. Use the strategies we have been working on to help solve unknown words.

Skating - Our next skating day will be on Tuesday January 29th with our buddies in Grade 3-4T. Students will need skates and a helmet to be on the ice. Also any parents, grandparents or helpers will need skates to be on the ice as well.

No School - Just a reminder that there is no school for students on Monday January 28th, as it is a PLD for teachers.

Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a fun weekend! What a lot of snow we got last week! Please make sure that you are dressed for the weather; snowpants, hats and mittens. It would be a good idea to keep an extra pair of socks and mittens in your bag.

Library - Our library day is Tuesday. Please make sure you bring your book back, so you can sign out another one.

Homework/ Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week focus onthe long /i/, bossy /e/ vowel sound and the word work activity is on this as well. We continue to work on blends, so we have an activity on this, choose two words and use them each in a sentence. In Math we are working on showing numbers in different ways, counting by 5s and 10s, counting with money and doubles and making 10. Please make sure that you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Fire Chief For The Day - Congratulations to Josh who won the contest for Fire Chief For The Day, from the Fire Safety Gazette during Fire Prevention Week. As part of the contest he won a pizza party for the class, which we will be having on Wednesday January 16th, along with a visit from some members of the Miramichi Fire Department. The students won't need their lunch on Wednesday unless they do not like pizza.

Hi Everyone!

Welcome Back!! Happy New Year!!

I hope you had a fun and relaxing holiday with your family! There is lots of snow on the playground and we are having some colder temperatures, so please make sure that you are dressed for the weather.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. We are sending home the Grade 2 sight word list for students to start working on. Go over the words this week and highlight or circle any words you don't know. These are the ones to keep working on throughout the year. It is important for students to read each night after our break. Make sure you read the book, use your strategies and record the book on the log sheet.

Math - We are working on counting by 5s to 100 and 10s starting at different numbers from 1 to 9; Making 10 and doubles; Counting with money and showing or representing numbers in different ways.

Spirit Week - There are theme days and challenges this week for Spirit Week!

               - Monday - PJ Day

               - Tuesday - Christmas Hat and Red & Green Day

               - Wednesday - Christmas Concert 9:00AM - Dress Up Day

               - Thursday - Christmas Sweater/Shirt Day

               - Friday - Favourite Team Shirt or School Clothing Day

 

Homework - This week we have reading each night for homework. It is important for the students to keep up with their reading and use their strategies every time they read. Make sure you record your book on the log sheet.

Food Drive - Our annual Food Drive for the Food Bank is wrapping up. The last day for donations is Tuesday December 18th.

Christmas Concert - The school Christmas Concert will take place on Wednesday December 19th at 9:00AM.

Last Day of School - Our last day of school before the Christmas Break is Friday December 21st. Please note that this is a full day and dismissal is at the regular time.

Hi Everyone!

I Hope you had a fun weekend! Please make sure that you are dressed for the weather! We are expecting some chilly mornings!! Make sure you keep an extra pair of mitts and socks in your bag in case yours get wet.

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Library day is on Tuesday. Make sure you bring your book back.

Christmas Shop - Our annual Christmas Shop will take place on Tuesday, December 11th. Students can shop for family members. Items will be $1-$2. If you have items to donate, please drop them off at the school.

Christmas Dinner - Our Christmas Dinner will be on Wednesday December 12th. This will be the only meal served on this day. Students will need to bring their lunch if they are not having the dinner.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. This is a review week for spelling, so there will be 12 words we already did. We have been doing some work with blends, so the word work activity is on this. In Math we are working on counting in different ways, counting with money and doubles and making 10. The writing activity will focus on the main idea, Christmas. Make sure you tell good details and begin and end your sentences the right way. Make sure you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Giving Tree - Thank you to everyone who made donations to the Giving Tree project. The students helped to pack the gift items for the seniors we had. Our school was able to fulfill the wishes of 63 Seniors. Wonderful Christmas Spirit and a great way to help make a difference for other people.

Food Drive - We are still collecting items for the Food Bank. The last day to bring them in is on Tuesday December 18th.

Christmas Concert - Our Christmas Concert is on Wednesday December 19th.

Last Day Of Classes - Our last day of classes before the Christmas Break is Friday December 21st. Please note that this is a full day and dimissal is at the regular time.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homeowrk for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week focus on the /ee/ vowel sound and the word work activity is on this as well. We are still working on the organization trait in writing and keeping a healthy lifestyle in You and Your World. Taking care of your teeth is an important part of keeping a healthy lifestyle. The writing activity is telling how you brush your teeth. Write the steps and make sure that you draw a picture to go with it. In Math we are working on countining in different ways, mental math strategies; ways to make 10 and doubles and place value. Make sure you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Parent Teacher - Our Parent Teacher day has been rescheduled for Thursday December 6th from 4:00 - 6:30PM. We will keep the same appointments that were scheduled for last Thursday. If this time does not work for you on the new date, please let me know.

Giving Tree - Just a reminder that donations for the giving tree are due on Monday December 3rd. The students were going to ask to do a chore or help out at home in exchange for a loonie or twoonie that they would bring in for a donation. We appreciate your support with this project.

Food Drive - Our annual Food Drive in support of the Food Bank is continuing until December 18th. Please bring in a food item if you can.

Christmas Shop - The Christmas Shop will take place on Tuesday December 11th. Students can bring in a couple of dollars and shop for gifts for family members. If you have items to donate for the shop or wrapping items, please drop them off at the school.

Christmas Dinner - Our annual Christmas dinner is on Wednesday December 12th.

Book Fair - Our School Book Fair is taking place from November 26 - November 29th. Students will be able to viist the Book Fair with the class during the week. Family Night is on Wednesday November 28th from 5:00 - 8:00PM.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week focus on the long /a/ bossy /e/ vowel sound. The word work activity is using this vowel as well. In Math we are working on place value to 20. We are still working on the organization trait in writing, it is important to tell things in order. The writing activity is telling how you get ready to play in the snow. Write about each step and make sure you draw a picture to go with it. Make sure you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Food Drive - Our school is doing our annual Food Drive for the Food Bank. We will be collecting food until December 14th. Please send in an item if you can.

Reports - Report cards go home on Tuesday November 27th.

Parent Teacher Interviews - Parent teacher Interviews are on Thursday November 29th from 4:00 - 6:30PM and on Friday November 30th from 9:00 - 11:30AM.

No School - There is no school for students on Friday November 30th.

Giving Tree Christmas Project - Our school is working with 95.9 Sun Radio to help make Christmas brighter for our Seniors at the Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home. Each class has three people to buy for with a list of items that they would like to have. Please send in a loonie or twoonie to help with this project if you can.

Wow! What a lot of snow we got! Please make sure you are dressed to be outside in the snow. Make sure you have your snowpants, boots, hat and mittens. It would be a good idea to keep an extra pair of mittens and socks in your bookbag in case they get wet.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week focus on the /o/ and /e/ vowel sounds that say their own name, like he and go. We are doing more work with blends so the word work activity is on this. In writing we are finding out more about the organization trait and telling things in order so there is an activity on this. You have to use the picture to tell a story. Make sure you give your story a title. In Math we are working on collecting data using tally marks, counting in different ways and place value. Please make sure that you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Food Drive - Just a reminder that our school has started our annual food drive for the Food Bank. Please bring in some items if you can. We will be collecting up until the last week of school before the break.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folder. Our spelling words focus on the /ar/ vowel sound and the word work activity is on this too. In Math we are working on collecting data. Use the graph to answer the questions. We are still working on the organization trait in writing and there is a writing activity on this. Remember to tell things in order and draw a picture for each part. Make sure that you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Skating - Our first skating day is on Tuesday November 13th. The ice time is from 10:00 - 10:40AM. Students need their skates and a helmet to be on the ice. Parents and grandparents please join us at the rink if you can.

Credit Union  - School Credit Union day is on Tuesday November 13th.

Book Orders - If you would like to order a book from Scholastic, please return the book order form and payment by Friday November 16th.

Food Drive - The school has started our annual Food Drive. Please bring in an item if you can.

In math we are working on counting in different ways, even and odd numbers and comparing and ordering numbers. We are starting to work on the organization trait in writing. It is important to tell things in order when we write, so the writing activity is on this. Make sure you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Remembrance Day Service - Our school Remembrance Day Service is on Thursday November 8th at 10:00AM. Please join us if you can.

No School - There is no school for students on Friday November 9th as it as a Professional Learning Day for teachers. Monday November 12th is the Remembrance Day holiday so there is no school.

Skating - Out first skating day of the year is on Tuesday November 13th. Students need skates and a helmet. If you need to borrow some please let me know as we do have some extras at the school. Parents and grandpaents are welcome to join us at the rink if you can.

Food Drive - The school has started our annual food drive in support of the Food Bank. Please send in some non-perishable food items if you can.

We are so lucky to live in such a wonderful, free and safe country like Canada. Please take time on Remembrance Day to remember our brave veterans and soldiers who fought for our freedom and continue to support peace efforts today.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folder. This week is a reveiw week for our spelling words, so they are 12 words we already had. The focus is on the short vowel sounds. Our word work activity is missing vowels and blends for Halloween words. In Math we are working on 3D shapes and even and odd numbers. Make sure you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Black and Orange Day - Students and staff are asked to wear black and orange on Halloween day, Wednesday October 31st.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folder. Our spelling words this week focus on the short /u/ vowel sound and the word work activity is on this too. We are working on the main idea with our writing traits. The main idea is Halloween. Make sure you write three good detailed sentences about Halloween and that they begin and end the right way. In Math we are working on even and odd numbers and comparing and ordering numbers to 20. Please make sure that you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Costume Parade - We will be having our Halloween Costume Parade on Friday October 26th. The students are asked to bring their costume to school.

K-2 Dance - The Home and School will be hosting a dance for the K-2 students on Friday October 26th from 6:00 - 7:00 PM. The cost is $5.00.

Tulip Garden - We planted our tulip garden with Ms. Hackett's and Mrs. Woods classes. It was a very cold day but we put 72 tulip bulbs in the ground. This is part of our project with Journey North. We will observe our garden and others around the world to track springs arrival.
