Hi Everyone, Welcome back! I hope you had a good weekend and a very special Mother's Day!    Phys. Ed Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.     Scholastic Book Fair The Home and School will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair this week in the library.The book Fair will be open from Monday -Thursday.Monday - Wednesday  9:00 - 3:00 PMWednesday - 5:00 - 7:00 - Family NightThursday - 9:00 - 12:00Students can purchase books during the day or come with your family on Family Night.  Math We are learning lots of new strategies to use in our unit on Adding and Subtracting 2-Digit Numbers. This week we will be working more on subtraction. Keep  working on your facts and strategies at home.   Class Project With Texas  We were not able to connect with our friends on Friday, we will try again this week. Our tulip garden has gone through some more changes. We have counted 91 tulips emerged and we planted 91! On Thursday we could see the buds on some of them where the flower will bloom. Caterpillars This week we will be getting our caterpillars. This is a wonderful way to watch an actual life cycle. We will watch them from a couple of days old until they become beautiful butterflies. Make sure you check back here, we will keep you updated on their progress.  Homework/Borrow-A-Book The homework for the week is listed in the yellow folders. This week is a review week for spelling, so there are 12 words. Please make sure you read each night and record the book on your log sheet. Use your strategies to help.  Have a fabulous week!

 Hi Everyone, Welcome back! I hope you had a fun long weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather! Hopefully the snow is behind us now!    Phys. Ed Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.     Math We are working on our unit of Adding and Subtracting 2- digit number. So far we have been working on adding. This week we wil be doing word problems and start work on subtracting. Keep working on your facts and strategies at home.  Library Our library day is on Wednesday. Please bring your book back so you can get another one.   Homework/Borow-A-Book Our Homework for the week is listed in the yellow folders. Our spelling words this week focus on contractions. Please make sure you read each night and record your book on the log sheet.  Class Project With Texas Rileigh, Rachel and Jamie-Lynn did a super job as the reporters and poetry reader. Our friends were excited to receive our letters and pictures of the winter we had. They showed us their silk worms. They got a lot bigger and some went into a cocoon. Their butterflies have emerged! We told them about our garden. When we visited it, we counted 89 tulips emerged out of 91 planted!  Happy Mother's Day to all mothers. Thanks for all you do!  Good Morning Everyone, I hope you had a good weekend. Believe it or not we are still getting some snow and cooler temperatures, even though it is the end of April. Students should keep a pair of mitts or gloves, a hat and an extra pair of socks in their book bag, so they are there if you need them.   Phys. Ed Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday and Tuesday.    Library Our library day is on Wednesday, please bring back your book so you can get another one.   Math We are working on our unit of Adding and Subtracting 2-digit numbers. So far we have been focusing on adding and creating our own strategies. The students are finding ways that are easy for them to add the numbers. It is important that we show our thinking and be able to tell how we found the answer. Keep working on your math facts and strategies at home.  Homework/Borrow-A-Book The homework for the week is listed in the blue folder. As this is only a three day week, we will not be having a spelling list. The students will review the grade 2 sight word list. Please make sure you are reading each night and record your book on the log sheet.  No School Just a reminder that there is no school for students on Thursday April 30th and Friday May 1st.   Class Project With Texas We were not able to do our report with our friends as they had another event happening. We are hoping to connect on Tuesday. We were out to check on our garden and counted 89 tulips emerging along with some snow on the garden. They are getting bigger and the snow doesn't seem to be hurting them.  Have a super week!

 Hi Everyone, I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weekend! The days are getting warmer and the snow is melting, but we still have some on the playground. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.    Library Our library day is on Wednesday, please bring your book back so you can get another one.   Earth Day Earth Day is on Wednesday April 22nd. We have been learning about different things we can do to help the Earth. It is important that we all do our part. Students are asked to wear blue and green on Wednesday in honour of Earth Day and to try and bring a litter less lunch.   Scholastic Book Order If you would like to order a book from this months book order, please have your order in by Friday April 24th.    Math We have started our unit on Adding and Subtracting to 100 and working with 2 - digit numbers. Students can continue to work on their facts and strategies at home as this will help with this unit.   Homework Our homework for the week is listed in the blue folders. The spelling words this week focus on base words and /ing/ endings. Please make sure that your read each night, use your strategies to help with the reading and record your book on the log sheet.  Class Project With Texas BIG NEWS!! Our tulips have emergerd! After the long winter and all of that snow, we didn't think they would ever come up. We went out on Tuesday and counted 19 emerging through the soil. We will keep you posted about our garden. We could not meet with our friends in Texas, to do our report because they were doing their testing. We hope we can meet this week so we can tell them about the garden. We mailed out their letters on Wednesday.  Have a great week! Remember to do something nice for the Earth!

Please note, that there is still a lot of snow on the playground, so make sure you are dressed for the weather.    Phys. Ed Our Phys. Please bring your book back so you can get out another one.   Math We are finishing up our unit on Measurement. This week we are going to start working on adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers. Students can keep working on their strategies and facts at home.   Homework/Borrow-A-Book Our homework for the week is listed in the blue folders. It is important that students continue to read each night and record their books on the log sheet.  Class Project With Texas We had a great meeting with our friends last week! Ally, Dustin and Alyssa did a wonderful job as the reporters and poetry reader. We found out that our weather has been quite a bit different. They were shocked to hear about our snow storm at Easter and that some people were still snowshoeing and ski-dooing. They had a high temperature of 32C and the students there had ball games, soccer games and were swimming in outdoor pools! They have their caterpillars and they are already in their chrysalis. This year they are doing a new study on silk worms and they showed them to us. They are going to keep us updated on what happens. We can't get our caterpillars unitl May, because it is not warm enough yet. We are finishing up our letters to them and are sending them out on Tuesday.  Have a fabulous week!

Students can keep working on their facts and strategies.   Class Project With Texas We finally were able to reconnect with our friends! Autumn, Madyson and Colby did a super job as the reporters and poetry reader. We thought we had a nice day when it got up to 5C. They told us their high for the week was 32C!  Hi Everyone, I hope you had a fun weekend! We are still having some cool temperatures and there is lots of snow on the playground, so please make sure you are dressed for the weather.    Phys. Ed Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.    Library Our library day is on Wednesday. Please bring your book back so you can get another one.   Math We are continuing with our unit on measurement using non-standard units. This week we are working with using only one copy of a unit and estimating. Students can keep working on their math facts and strategies at home, as well as counting forwards and backwards by 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s.  Easter Dinner If you would like to order the Easter Dinner, please Pre-Order by Tuesday March 31st. The cost of the dinner is $6.00 and it will be on Thursday April 2nd.    Homework/Borrow-A-Book The homework for the week is listed in the blue folders. Our spelling words this week focus on the /th/ blend and the /oo/ vowel sound. Please make sure that you read each night and record your reading on the log sheet. Remember to use the strategies we have been working on.  Class Project With Texas Our friends in Texas have been having some very warm temperatures, unlike our weather here. We were not able to connect with them last week, as they had an unexpected tornado drill. We are hoping to meet with them on Thursday.  Yearbook Orders If you would like to order a yearbook for the 2014-2015 school year, the last day to place orders is Tuesday March 31st.  Hi Everyone, I hope you enjoyed your weekend. Even though it is spring, we still have lots of snow and colder temperatures. Make sure you are dressed for the weather.    Phys. Ed Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.     Library Our library day is on Wednesday. Remember to bring back your book so you can get another one.   Math We are working on a Measurement unit using non-standard units. Students can keep working on their  strategies and facts at home.The students are brining Math games home for the month of March. Have fun playing them with your family. Games go home on Tuesday and they are to be returned on Thursday.  Homework/Borrow-A-Book The homework for the week is listed in the blue folders. It is very important that the students are reading every night and recording their books on the log sheet. They should be using the strategies taught to help with their reading.  No School / Reports / Parent Teacher There is no school for students on Friday March 27th. Report Cards go home on Tuesday March 24th.Parent Teacher Days - Thursday March 26th - 4:00 - 6:00 PM                                                                - Friday March 27th - 9:00 - 11:30 AM   Class Project With Texas We were unable to connect with our friends on Friday and they were away for their Break the week before. We did go out and visit our tulip garden on the first day of spring. We measured at least 60 cm of snow on top of the garden, but there was more. The snow was frozen and we could stand on top of it. Definitely no tulips!!  Yearbook Orders March 31st is the final day to order a yearbook if you would like one for the 2014-2015 school year.    Have an awesome week!

It would be a good idea to keep an extra pair of socks and mittens in your book bag.    Phys. Ed Our Phys. Make sure you bring your book back so you can get another one.   St. Patrick's Day Tuesday March 17th is St. Patrick's Day. Wear something green.     Math We have started a new unit on measurement. We are learning about the calendar, the days of the week, months of the year, dates and seasons. Students can keep working on their strategies and facts at home.   Homework/Borrow-A-Book Homeowrk for the week is listed in the blue folders. This week is a review week for our spelling words. Please make sure that you are reading each night and record your book on the log sheet.  Hi Everyone, I hope you had a super weekend! It did warm up a little, but we are going  back into the deep freeze with some very cold windchills again. Please make sure your are dressed for the weather. It would be a good idea to have an extra pair of mittens and socks in your bookbag.   Phys.Ed Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  Spell-A-Thon We had our Spell-A-Thon on Friday. Any student who was absent will write their test on Monday. Pledge sheets with the spelling test will go home on Monday, so pledge money can be collected. All money is due back on Friday February 27th. Thank you for your support with this fundraiser.    Math We are finishing up our unit on Addition and Subtraction to 18. Keep working on those strategies, as they will help with adding and subtraction.    Pink Shirt Day Friday February 25th is Pink Shirt Day. Staff and students are asked to wear pink to help stand up to bullying.      Class Project With Texas Austin S., Cecilia and Nevaeh did an awesome job as the reporters and poetry reader. We had lots of weather news to tell our friends about. They are amazed with the snow we keep getting. We visited our tulip garden and measured 75 cm of snow on it! We couldn't believe the news that they told us. Their tulips have bloomed!!  Homework   Homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Don't forget your book.   100th Day Of School Thursday February 26th will be our 100th Day Of School. We have been counting the days since the first day of school. There are many different activities that we are working on all around the number 100. Each student is making a quilt square for our 100 quilt. These are due on Monday. Students are asked to bring in a collection of 100 items. Our K-2 students are trying to bring in 100 food items for the Food Bank. Please bring in an item if you can.  Hi Everyone, I hope you had a good weekend and were able to stay warm! What a lot of snow! We are still having cold windchills, so make sure you bundle up and are dressed for the weather.     Happy Flag Day Our Canadian flag turned 50 on Sunday February 15th. The Canadian flag is an important part of who we are and is recognized around the world. It is very unique because it is the only flag in the world that has a maple leaf on it. We have been learning all about our flag and how it was chosen. We all agree that it was a great choice! We couldn't imagine having any other flag. It makes us feel safe and proud! On Monday February 16th it will be Red and White Day at our school in honour of our flag.   Phys. Ed Our Phys. Ed days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.      Library Our library day is on Wednesday. Don't forget your book!   Spell-A-Thon Our Spell-A-Thon fundraiser is underway. We have been working on the words every day at school and the students are doing a great job with them. Just a reminder that pledge sheets are due back on February 17th and the Spell-A-Thon will be done on Wednesday February 18th. All money raised is used to support students activities. Hi Everyone,I hope you had a fun weekend! We are still having very cold windchills and more expected for the beginning of the week. So bundle up and make sure you are dressed for the weather. This is only a four day week for students.    Phys. Ed Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.     Library Our library day is on Wednesday. Don't forget your book.   Skating We have skating with 2D on Thursday February 12th. Our ice time is 9:45 - 10:30AM. Students will need their skates and helmet. Parents and grandparents please join us if you can.   Valentine's Exchange We will be exchanging valentines on Thursday February 12th. Students can bring them in on this day to exchange with their classmates.     Math We continue to work on our unit of Addition and Subtraction to 18. We are learning different strategies to help with adding and subtracting. Keep working on your facts and strategies at home.   Homework/Borrow-A-Book Homework for the week is recorded in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week are for the Spell-A-Thon, there are 20 words. Please make sure you are reading your book each night and record it on the log sheet.  Spell-A-Thon Our Spell-A-Thon Fundraiser kicked off on Wednesday February 4th. Information packets with pledge sheets and the word list went home with each student. Students can collect pledges from family members and friends. Please work on the words at home, we are also working on them each day in class. All money raised goes to the Student Council in support of student activities.   Class Project With Texas Jamie-Lynn, Alexa and Cecilia did a fabulous job as the reporters and poetry reader. Our friends told us their tulips have emerged and are growing bigger each day. Our graden was hit with 2 more storms. They couldn't believe how much snow we got last week.  No School There is no school for students on Friday February 13th, as it is a Professional Learning Day for teachers.    Red and White Day Our Canadian flag will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Sunday February 15th. In honour of this, Monday February 16th will be Red and White Day. Students and staff are asked to wear Canada's colours in honour of our flag.  Have a super week! Happy Valentine's Day!

 Hi Everyone, We have started a new month! What a lot of snow we had the past week! Tomorrow is Ground Hogs Day, do you think we will have an early spring or six more weeks of winter? Make sure you bring your book back.   School Colours Day/ Spell-A-Thon Fundraiser Starts Tuesday February 3rd is School Colours Day and the kick off for our Spell-A-Thon fundraiser. All students and staff are asked to show their school spirit and wear our school colours.     Math We have been working on adding and subtracting to 18 and using strategies to help. Please keep working on these at home and going over your facts.   Homework/Borrow-A-Book Homework for the week is in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week are the words for the Spell-A-Thon. Make sure you read each night and record your book on the log sheet. Use your strategies to help with your reading skills.   Class Project With Texas We connected with our friends again on Friday. Jamie-Lynn, Dustin and Austin S., did a wonderful job as the reporters and poetry reader. Our friends were amazed to hear about all the snow we got over the last few storms.  Hi Everyone, It is hard to believe that we are into our last week of January. The temperatures have been a lot colder, especially the mornings. Please make sure you are dressed for the weather.   Phys. Ed Our Phys. Ed days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.    Library We will go to the library on Wednesday. Please bring your book back, so you can take out another one.   Math We are working on our unit of Addition and Subtraction to 18. Last week we sent home some strategies and facts we are using in class. Please work on these at home. Keep counting in different ways.   Borrow-A-Book/Homework The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week focus on more than one, adding s at the end. Please make sure that you read each night and record your book on the log sheet. Use your strategies to help with your reading.  Class Project With Texas We did our weekly report on Friday. It was good to see our friends again, as we were not able to meet last week. Nevaeh, Rileigh and Autumn did a wonderful job as the reporters and poetry readers. They have been having warmer temperatures there and a lot of rain. We talked about our gardens. There was 30cm of snow on ours and no snow on their garden.  Have a super week!
