 Hi Everyone,  I hope you had a fun weekend and got outside to play. The snow keeps piling up out there. Make sure you are dressed for the weather.        Skating  Our last skating day of the year will be on Thursday March 27th. Ice time is from 9:00 - 9:40am. We will be skating with our Grade 6 buddies. Please make sure you have your skates and helmets. Parents and grandparents please join us if you can.      Phys.Ed  Our Phys.Ed days are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.        Library  Our library day is on Friday. Make sure you have bring your book.    Math  We are working on our unit on measurement with non standard units. Students should keep working on math strategies, facts and counting in different ways at home.      Borrow-A-Book/Reading Comprehension  Please make sure you are reading at home each night and recording your book on your log sheet. Use the strategies we have been working on to help with your reading. We are starting to send home reading comprehension stories each week. Make sure you read the whole story and answer the questions. Go back and reread if you can't remember the answer.    Have a super week!

 Hi Everyone!  Happy St. Patrick's Day!  I hope everyone had a good weekend. We are back to cold weather days again. Please make sure you are dressed for the weather.      Phys.Ed  Our Phys.Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.        Credit Union  School Credit Union Day is on Wednesday March 19th.      Report Cards/Parent Teacher  Reports go home on Tuesday March 18th  Parent Teacher Days - Thursday March 20th - 4:00 - 6:00pm                                                            - Friday March 21st - 9:00 - 11:30am                            There is no school for students on Friday March 21st.    Borrow-A-Book  Just a reminder that you should be reading your book each night and recording it on the log sheet. Use the strategies we have been working on to help with your reading.    Math  We have started a unit on Measurement. Now we are working on the calendar, days of the weeks and months of the year. Keep working on your strategies and math facts.  Math Games - Last week we started sending home math games, that the students can play at home with their family. The games will go home on Tuesday and are due back on Thursday. Have fun!    Have a great week!

 Hi Everyone,  Welcome Back! I hope you had a fun and relaxing March Break!  The Paralympics started on Friday. Team Canada is off to a good start with 5 medals so far. If you get a chance, be sure to watch some of the events of these amazing athletes! GO CANADA GO!!!    Phys.Ed  Our Phys. Ed days are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.          Math  We are starting a new unit this month on Measurement. We will be working on using a calendar, days, weeks and months. We will also be using non standard units of measuring. Keep working on using your strategies and learning your math facts. Use the sheets that were sent home.      Scholastic Book Orders  If you would like to order a book from the March club, they are due back on Friday March 14th.        Borrow-A-Book  We have been off for a week, so it is very important that we get back to reading each night. Make sure you use the strategies we have been working on to help with your reading. Please remember to record your book on the log sheet.    Library  Our library day is Friday.  Hi Everyone,  I hope you had a great weekend and had a chance to watch the final days of the Olympics. Our Canadian athletes did their best and made us proud. Congratulations Team Canada!!      Phys.Ed  Our Phys.Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.        Winter Wellness Week  Wednesday - Pink Shirt Day - Wear pink to help stand up to bullying.  Thursday - PJ Day - Wear your PJ's to school.  Friday - School Colours Day - Show your school pride and wear our colours - Marroon and Gold.    Class Project With Texas  We connected with our friends in Texas again. Caleb, Brooke and Garrett did a wonderful job as the reporters and poetry reader. They told us that their tulips are up! We checked our garden and measured 55cm of snow on top of it! We don't think we will see our tulips for a while. Their weather is getting warmer and they are back on the plus side with their temperatures.    Library  Our library day is on Friday. Please make sure you bring your book back.    Spell-A-Thon Fundraiser  The students did a super job on the Spell-A-Thon. Pledge sheets and corrected test went home on Monday. Now is the time to collect your pledge money. All pledge money is due back on Friday February 28th.  Hi Everyone,  Wow! What a lot of snow we got! I hope you were able to watch some of the Olympics and see our Canadaian athletes. They are doing a great job!  Just a reminder that there is no school for students on Monday as it is a Professional Learning Day for teachers.    Phys.Ed  Our Phys.Ed days this week are Tuesday and Wednesday.        Spell-A-Thon  Just a reminder that pledge sheets are due back on Tuesday February 18th.  The Spell-A-Thon is on Wednesday February 19th.  All money is due back on February 28th. Thanks for your support with this fundraiser.  Good luck everyone!      100th Day Of School  We had a super celebration for the 100th Day Of School. Thank you for your support with our 100th Day Quilt and the donation of food items. We collected 127 items for the Food Bank. Check back later for pictures of the big day.    Library  Our library day is on Friday. Remember to bring your book back so you can get another one.                               Class Project with Texas  We were able to talk with our friends on Thursday.  Paige, Cali and Ben did a super job with the reports and poetry reading. They celebrated their 100th Day on February 7th. Our friends told us they got more snow and were still having colder temperatures than they usually have.    Borrow-A-Book  Please make sure that you are reading your book each night and recording it on your log sheet. Use the strategies we have been working on to help with your reading.    Red and White Day  Friday is Red and White Day, so wear Canada's Colours and help us cheer on our Canadian athletes.  Hi Everyone,  I hope you had a fun weekend! Team Canada is off to a great start at the winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. They won 4 medals on the first two days. Remember that Friday's during the Olympics are Red and White Days at school. Wear Canada's colours and cheer on our Canadian athletes. GO CANADA GO!!!!    Phys.Ed  Our Phys.Ed days are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.        100th Day Of School  The big day is almost here. We have been counting to 100 days and the 100th Day Of School will be on Wednesday February 12th. Make sure you bring in your 100 Collection and quilt square if you have not already done so. We are trying to collect 100 items for the Food Bank. Please bring in an item if you can. We have lots of activities planned for the big day.    Skating  We have skating on Wednesday February 13th. Our ice time is 9:40 -  10:25am. Make sure you have your skates and helmet. Parents please join us if you can.        Valentine's Day  We will be having a Valentine's celebration on Friday February 14th. Students can bring in their valentines to exchange on this day.    Class Project With Texas  Our friends in Texas are having more of our winter weather. They had some really cold temperatures and even had some snow. They sent us some pictures. We did not meet to do our report on Thursday, as school closed early for them because of the snow. We will try to connect with them this Thursday.    Borrow-A-Book  It is very important that you read each night and record your book on the log sheet. Use the strategies we have been working on to help with your reading.    Spell-A-Thon  Our school Spell-A-Thon started on Thursday. Please work on your words and collect some pledges. Hi Everyone,I hope you had a fun weekend and enjoyed the warmer temperatures. Make sure you are dressed to go outside. Extra mittens would be a good idea.   Phys.Ed Our Phys.Ed days are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.     Spell-A-Thon Fundraiser Our major school fundraiser will begin this Thursday February 6th. Information packets and word lists will go home with the students on this day.    Math We are learning new strategies to help with adding and subtracting. This week we are working on finding the missing number. Strategies and fact sheets will be going home.  Scholastic Book Orders If you would like to order a book, please return the order form by Thursday February 6th.    100th Day Of School We have been counting to 100 days. Our 100th Day of School is coming up on February 12th. A memo went home last week outlining some of the activities the K-2 students will be working on. Quilt squares are due back for this Friday February 7th. Students can also be working on their 100 collection and can bring them in when they are ready. We are also trying to collect 100 food items for the Food Bank. If you can bring something in, that would be great! Olympics/Spell-A-Thon AssemblySince this is an Olympic year we are combining this with our Spell-A-Thon. Our kick off assembly for both events will be on Friday February 7th. We are asking all students to wear red and white on Friday to cheer on our Canadian athletes.  Project With Texas Our friends in Texas are still having some cold temperatures.  Hi Everyone,  I hope you enjoyed the nice weekend we had. We are ready to start another full week of school. Please make sure you are dressed for the weather. We are expecting some colder temperatures this week.    Phys.Ed  Our Phys.Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.        School Credit Union  This month's Shcool Credit Union Day will be on Wednesday January 22nd.        Math  We have started working on our unit with Adding and Subtracting to 18. Keep working on your strategies; Making 10, doubles, adding and subtracting 0, and adding 1.  We have done work with fact families and word problems. Now we are working on equal and unequal and the signs to use.    Borrow-A-Book  It is very important that you continue to read each night and that you record your book on the log sheet. Use your strategies that we have worked on in class to help with your reading.    Project With Texas  We had a great meeting with our friends in Texas and enjoyed reconnecting with them again. Evan, Noah and Randy did a great job with the reports and poetry reading. We received their cards and treats when we returned after the break. It is their turn to write this months letter. We checked on our tulip garden and it was covered in snow. They planted their tulips on Dec. 18th and they told us that some of them had emerged!    Primary Corner  We have started Primary Corner on the morning announcements. Tune in on Wednesdays to find out what is going on in K-2. Each week we have 2 students bringing news from the Primary Grades. The students have done a super job reporting!      Library  Our library day is on Friday. Make sure you bring your book back, so you can get a new one.      Have a fabulous week!

 Hi Everyone,  I hope you had a fun weekend! Can you believe that we are into the last week of school before the Christmas Break? The weather has been very cold this past week, so bundle up when you are heading out to school in the morning.      Christmas Concert  Our Christmas Concert is on Wednesday December 18th.  K-2 - 9:30am  3-8 - 12:00pm  We hope you can make it. The students have been working hard.    Library  We have a change with our library day this week. All library books are due back on Wednesday December 18th.      Math  We are finishing up our unit on Numbers to 100. Keep counting by 2s, 5s and 10s.      Class Project With Texas  We had our weekly report with our friends in Texas. They were starting to warm  up a little and they did get their power back. Alex, Cali and Paige did a great job with the reporting and the poem.  They will be planting their tulips this coming week. We will connect again with them next week before the break.      Merry Christmas!  I would like to take this time to wish all of my students and their families a very Merry Christmas! Enjoy your holidays and best wishes for a happy 2014! I look forward to working with everyone again in the New Year!

 Hi Everyone,  We are already into the second week of December. The temperature has dropped, so make sure you bundle up as you head out to school each day. It is a busy week, so check below for upcoming events.        Christmas Store  The Christmas Store will take place on Tuesday December 10th. Students can purchase items between $1.00 - $3.00. All money raised will go to the relief fund for the Philippines.        Christmas Dinner  Our school Christmas Dinner, will take place on Wednesday December 11th. This will be the only meal served at the cafeteria on this day.    Skating  Grade 2 has skating on Thursday December 12th. Our ice time is from 10:25-11:05am. Please make sure you have skates and a helmet. Parents are welcome to join us if you are able.        Food Drive  Items are still being collected for the Food Bank. Please bring in what you can.      Phys. Ed  Our Phys. Ed days are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.            Math  We are finishing up our unit on Numbers to 100. Now we are working on equal and unequal sets, comparing and ordering numbers. Keep counting in different ways.      Borrow-A-Book  It is important to continue reading each night. Make sure you use your strategies and record your book on the log sheeet.    Class Project With Texas  We had our weekly report on Thursday. Ava, Sylvia and Caleb did a great job as the reporters and poetry readers. Our friends are having our winter weather. They did not have school on Friday because of freezing rain and ice pellets. They have been without power for the last 2 days. We are hoping it warms up for them soon. The students wrote thier letters and Christmas cards and we sent them in the mail on Thursday.    Library  Our library day is Friday.  Hi Everyone,  I hope you had a wonderful weekend! December is here! The first day has brought us some snow. Please make sure you come dressed to go outside.        Christmas Dinner  Our Christmas Dinner will be on Wednesday December 11th. If you would like to have the dinner, please bring in your money on Monday December 2nd, as they have to be pre-ordered. The cost is $4.00.    Book Fair  The Scholastic Book Fair will take place in the school library from December 2 - 5. Students will be able to view and purchase books during the day. There is also a Family Night on Wednesday from 6-8 pm.    Phys. Ed  Our Phys.Ed days with Mr. Fitzpatrick are on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.        Math  We are continuing work on our unit of Numbers to 100. We are working on 10s and 1s and Place Value and describing numbers in different ways. Keep working on counting in different ways.      Borrow-A-Book  Make sure you are reading each night and recording your book on the log sheet. Use you strategies to help with your reading.    Food Drive  The Food Drive is still going on in support of the local Food Bank. Please bring in what you can.      Library  Our library day is on Friday. Bring your book back so you can get out another one.      Project With Texas  The students were very excited this week. We received or letters and a few surprises from our pen pals! The students were busy writing a return letter. Our friends in Texas were off for the week, as they celebrated Thanksgiving. They had some colder weather and even some snow. There were two days last week we were warmer than them and one day we had the same temperature.  Hi Everyone,  I hope you had a good weekend! It was a chilly one. The days are definitely getting colder. Please make sure you are dressed for the weather: warmer jackets, boots, hats and mittens.      Phys. Ed  Our Phys.Ed days with Mr. Fitzpatrick are on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.        Play With Your Food Art Show  Our Play With Your Food Art Show was a great success. The grade 2 and 3 students did an awesome job creating their characters. They are in the process now of writing the story about their character. Thanks again to parents for their help with this project.    Math  Keep working on counting forward and backwards in different ways. We are working on 10s and 1s and place value.      Borrow - A- Book  Please make sure that you are reading your book each night and recording it on the log sheet. Remember to use the strategies we have been working on to help with unknown words.    Food Drive  Just a reminder that we are still collecting items for the Food Bank. Please bring in what you can.      Project With Texas  The students have been enjoying the activities we have been doing with our friends in Texas. They have been doing a great job with the weekly reports and poetry reading. Our friends will be celebrating Thanksgiving on Thursday and they are off for most of the week.
