 Hi Everyone,  It is October already! Today was a chilly day. Please make sure that you are dressing for the weather.      Phys.Ed  Our Phys.Ed days are on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.        Library  We will go to the library on Wednesday. Make sure you bring your book back.        Fast ForWord  We finished one week of the program and the students are doing a great job. They are trying to beat their scores each day. Keep up the good work Grade 2.      International Project  We are going to start our project with our friends in Texas. This month we will exchange class letters of introduction, send our first letters to our pen pals, start our live weekly weather reports, have our first video conference and share our Canadian Thanksgiving celebrations. The students are looking forward to starting work on the project.    Homework  The homework for the week is listed in the red homework folder. Just a reminder to record the book they read each night on the log sheet. Please return the homework book, orange folder and agenda each day.        Happy Thanksgiving  Monday October 10th is Thanksgiving Day.  Just a reminder that there is no school.   Hi Everyone,   We have started a new season and what a beautiful weekend we had.  Happy fall!         Phys.Ed   Just a reminder that our Phys.Ed days are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. It has been warm in the school, so you might want to make sure that you have a t-shirt on.      Terry Fox Walk   Our school Terry Fox Walk will be held on Wednesday at 1:15pm. This is a school wide walk and students are also asked to bring in a donation. This date is weather permitting, we will keep you posted if there are any changes.    Library  Wednesday is our library day. Remember to bring your book back so you can take another one out.        Homework  The students will be atking their homework folders home each night. There is a sheet that lists the homework for each night. Please return the folders each day, along with the orange folders, agendas and Borrow-A-Books. This week we will begin our spelling program. The students will have their list of words in their homework folders.      Fast ForWord  We will begin the Fast ForWord program this week. This is a computer based literacy program that all grade 2 students in District 16 complete. This is a 10 - 12 week program. We will be going to the computer lab every day to work on it and it is very important that the students are here each day.    Have a great week!

 Hi Everyone!  Hope you enjoyed your long weekend.          Phys.Ed  Students have Phys.Ed on Wednesday and Thursday this week.        School Pictures  If you are placing an order for school pictures, they are due back on Wednesday September 21st. We do not have a date for retakes yet, but it will be posted once we receive it.        Scholastic Book Orders  Each month we will be sending home book order forms from Scholastic, that you may order books from. If you wish to place an order, please send back the form and the money with the students. The September order form is going home on Tuesday and is due back on Friday September 23.    Library  Our library day is on Wednesday. Please make sure to bring your book back so you can sign out a new one.        Homework  Just a reminder to please make sure that you are reading each night and signing your log sheet. Homework is listed for the week in the students red homework folder. Please return the folder each day.        Have a great week!

  Hi Everyone!   Welcome to our Grade 2 Class page.  Please check back with us each week to find out what is happening in our classroom.       Phys. Ed   The students have Phys.Ed with Ms. Baldwin on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. You may want to make sure the students have a t-shirt on under their other clothes on these days, as they do get warm in the gym.      Library  Our library day will be on Wednesday's. The students will be able to sign out a book each week and they are due back on Wednesday. They will need to bring their book back in order to sign out a new one.      No School  Just a reminder to parents that there is no school for students on Monday September 19th.      We are happy to have our student teacher Ms. Pinder with us until December 15th.       Have a great week!

 I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. There are only 16 more days until Christmas!          Christmas Store  This is being held on Tuesday December 7th in the school library. Students are invited to come and shop for their parents. Items are between $1.00 & $2.00.      Library  Just a reminder that Wednesday is our library day. Please make sure that you return your book.    Skating  Just a reminder that we have skating on Thursday December 9th. Our ice time is from 9:00-9:40am. Please make sure you have your skates and helmets. Parents are welcomed to come out and join us.      International Project  Our weekly weather report will be on Tuesday. The students were quite excited today when we checked our temperature and the temperature in Dallas, and we discovered that our temperature was warmer. We mailed our Christmas cards and letters to Texas on Friday. We are hoping they arrive before they finish school on December 17th. Our next project is a shared writing on our family Christmas Traditions.    Enjoy the rest of your week!

 Hi Everyone!  Wow! Can you believe that it is December already? It is a busy month, so please check the calendar for upcoming events.      Just a reminder that class pictures are available for $4.00.            International Project  There was lots of excitement in our room on Friday, as our letters from pen pals arrived from Texas. The students were excited to read all about their buddies. We are busy writing letters and making Christmas cards to send out on Thursday. Our weekly report went well yesterday and Lexa and Tanner did a super job as the reporters and Jenna did a nice poetry reading. There is no snow in Texas yet!    Skating  Our next skating day is on Thursday December 9th. Ice time is from 9:00-9:40am. Students need skates and helmets. Parents please join us if you are able.        Food Bank  A reminder that the Student Council is doing a food drive for the Food Bank.        Borrow-A-Book  Remember to read each night and fill out your reading log.    Enjoy the rest of the week! There are only 24 more days until Christmas!

 Hi Everyone!  The snow has arrived! With the colder weather please make sure that the students are dressed for the weather and have hats and mittens.      Play With Your Food Art Show  What an amazing job the students did with their projects! Everyone who stopped by to see the display loved the characters. They were very creative and well done! A big thank you to all parents for your support with this project. Our next part is to create a story about the character they made. Check out the image gallery for pictures of the characters.    International Project  Tyler and Nicholas were our weather and class reporters this week and they did a great job. We had a bigger group to present to this week, as our friends in Texas had their grandparents visiting. We have started work on our Christmas cards to send and will begin our letters on Friday. It is Thanksgiving Day in the USA on Thursday November 25th and we would like to wish a very Happy Thanksgiving to all of our American Friends!    Food Bank  Just a reminder that the Student Council is collecting items for the Food Bank.     Enjoy the rest of the week!

Remember to bring your book back so you can sign out a new one.      Play With Your Food Art Show  Our Play With Your Food Art Show, will be on Tuesday November 23rd. A memo went home yesterday and more information will follow. Check the image gallery on our page for samples of last years show and the school home page for other ideas.                                   International Project   We had our weekly report with our friends in Texas today. Skylar and Jackson did a great job as the reporters and Cody did a wonderful poetry reading. Sheldenand Julien did a super job as the reporters last week and Alisha did a great poetry reading. Our friends in Texas are celebrating Thanksgiving next week. We will be doing our Play With Your Food Art Show next Tuesday.      Book orders are due on Friday November 19th.          Have a great week!

 I hope that everyone enjoyed their weekend!  Just a reminder that our school Remembrance Day service will be on Wednesday November 10th at 10:00am.  There is no school on Thursday November 11th for Remembrance Day. Please take time to remember those who gave their lives for us and our country.      We have library on Wednesday. Remember to return your book so you can sign out a new one.      Phys.Ed days this week are on Tuesday and Friday.                                     International Project  We had our weather and class reports last week. Ryan and Jorja did a super job as the reporters and Gracie did a wonderful poetry reading. Our friends in Texas already had their Play With Your Food Art Show, and they are going to send us some pictures. They were very sad that Texas lost the World Series. Our weekly report this week will be on Wednesday.    Play With Your Food Art Show  We are looking at November 23rd as the date for our art show. We will be talking about it in class this week and next. A memo will be going home at the beginning of next week with more information.        Have a great week and remember to take time to remember.

 Winter is on the way!  The days are starting to get colder. The students should start bringing their hats and mittens to wear, especially for the mornings.      Just a reminder that report cards went out on Tuesday and Parent Teacher interviews are on Thursday 6:00 -8:00 pm and Friday 9:00 - 11:30 am.      Borrow A Book  Please make sure that your child is reading each night and sign the log sheet.        Play With Your Food  Our Play With Your Food Art Show  will be coming up this month.  Welcome Back!  I hope that everyone had a great weekend! What a beautiful day we had on Sunday! This is only a four day week for the students.      Tulips Planted  On Tuesday October 19th we planted our tulips. It was very chilly and windy, but we planted 50 Red Emperor tulips. We are keeping a journal to record their changes and are comparing our garden with our class in Dallas Texas.                               International Project  We had a successful weekly weather and class report last week. The new system worked great and we could hear and see each other. Josh and Emily did a great job as the reporters and Madelyn did a super poetry reading. This weeks report will be done on Thursday.      No School  Just a reminder that there is no school for the students on Wednesday October 27th.      Skating  Our first skating day of the year is on Monday November 1st. The ice time is from 9:00 - 9:40. Students are required to have skates and a helmet. Parents are welcome to come and join us.      Borrow-A-Book  Just a reminder that it is important that the students read each night and record their reading on the log sheet.        Have a great week!  Happy Halloween Everyone!

 Welcome Back! I hope you enjoyed the beautiful fall weekend!  We had a great day at Croft on Friday participating in their Heritage Show Case. The students enjoyed the trip and learned  from the different sessions we attended. We would like to say Thank You to Croft School for hosting us for the day.                               International Project  We had our first Video Conference  and the students were able to meet their pen pals and find out  some things about them. This week we will continue our weekly weather and class reports, our day each week for reporting is Tuesday.  Our friends in Texas were quite excited to receive our first letters in the mail and we are anxiously awaiting their October letter. We hope to plant our tulips on Monday or Tuesday.    Fast ForWord  We have started the Fast ForWord literacy based computer program. The students are enjoying it and will be going to the lab every day to work on it. This program helps with memory, attention, processing and sequencing skills.    School Book Fair  The Book Fair is taking place this week in the Library. Monday is a viewing day. Students will be able to purchase books Tuesday - Thursday from 9am - 3pm and on Wednesday from 6pm - 8pm. Our class day to purchase is on Tuesday. Make sure you stop buy and check out the great selection of books.      School Credit Union Day - Wednesday October 20th.        Have a great week!

 October is here!  This is a short week, as there is no school for students on Thursday and Friday. Monday is Thanksgiving. Enjoy the long weekend with your family.    International Project Again this year our Grade 2 Classes will be taking part in a collaborative project with Grade 2 Classes in Dallas Texas. We will be working on different activities each month.  Today we had our first live weekly weather report. Lexa and Justin were our class reporters and Tanner did the poetry reading. They did a super job! Tomorrow we will do our first video conference and the students will have a chance to meet their pen pals and learn a little more about each other.    This week is Fire Prevention Week. Make sure you take the time to discuss fire safety tips and practice your escape plan at home.      Have a great week and enjoy the long weekend!

 It's Fall! We have started a new season and the beautiful fall colours are starting to show. The students have been busy writing about signs of fall and their favourite thing to do in the fall. In Art class they did some amazing fall scenes with pastels. We will upload some pictures later this week.   Daily 5 We have been practicing every day on becoming independent reader's and writer's. The students are building their stamina and are up to 15 minutes with Read To Self and Work On Writing. We have now started work on Read To Someone.    Terry Fox Walk  Just a reminder that the school walk is on Thursday September 30th.
