 Hi Everyone,  Hope you had a great weekend. Just a reminder that we are having some cold days still. Please make sure you are dressing for the weather. Bring your hats and mittens with you.       Phys. Ed - Phys.Ed days this week are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.    Library  Our library day is on Wednesday. Remember to bring your book.        International Project With Texas  We have had a hard time connecting for our weekly reports. We are hoping to meet with them this week. The students did an awesome job with their self portraits. We sent them along with their writing to our friends in Texas. We will be hanging their portraits up in our school soon. Check out the Photo Gallery to see the portraits. We still have no tulips yet, although a lot of the snow did melt on the garden. The tulips in Dallas have already bloomed.  Have a great week!

 Hi Everyone!  What a storm we had on Saturday! I hope that everyone got shovelled out! This week is another busy week at Nelson Rural. Please read below for what's happening in Grade 2 and at Nelson Rural.      Phys.Ed  Our Phys.Ed days are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.      Library  We have library on Wednesday. Remember to bring your book.    Skating  We have skating on Thursday March 1st. Our ice time is 9:40 - 10:20. Students need to bring their skates and helmet. Parents are welcome to join us.      Winter Wellness Days  We will be having aome activity and theme days this week.  Wednesday - Pink Shirt Day - Bullying Awareness. Students will be receiving a pink shirt and we will have a school assembly.  Thursday - School Colours Day - Wear Maroon/ Burgundy and Gold                   Friday - Crazy Hair and PJ Day.                             - We will be ordering pizza for lunch.   Math Games  This will be our last week for the Math Games. Please enjoy them with your family.      Spell-A-Thon Fundraiser  Just a reminder that all pledge money is due back on Wednesday February 29th.      Have a great week!

 Hi Everyone,  Last week was a very busy week in Grade 2 and at Nelson Rural. I hope everyone had a great weekend and is ready to start a new week!      Phys.Ed  Our Phys.Ed days are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.      Library  Wednesday is library day. Make sure you bring your book.    Math Games  Just a reminder that Math Games will be going home on Monday during the month of February. Please enjoy the games with your family and return them on Wednesday.    International Project  The students were excited to reconnect with our friends in Texas again. Luc, Damian and Skylar did an excellent job as the reporters and poetry reader. They were very surprised in Texas with how cold it had been here earlier in the week and with the snow we have. Our students were amazed to hear that they play soccer all year round down there. It would be hard to play soccer on our field right now! This month we are working on self  portraits to send to each other.  100th Day Of School  Friday February 17th was a big day at Nelson Rural as we celebrated the 100th Day Of School. We did lots of activities related around the number 100. Thanks for your help at home with the quilt square, food bank items and 100 collections. The 100th Day Quilt looks great. If you get a chance stop by to see it.    No School  Just a reminder that there is no school for students on Friday February 24th.      Have a great week!

 Hi Everyone,  We are half way through the month of February! This is a busy month with lots of activities and events going on. Keep checking back here to find out what is happening in Grade 2 and at Nelson Rural.      Phys.Ed  Our Phys.Ed days are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.      Library  Our library day is on Wednesday. Don't forget your book!    Valentine's Day  We will have our Valentine's celebration on Tuesday February 14th. Students are invited to bring their valentines to exchange with their classmates.      Flag Day  National Flag Day is on Wednesday February 15th. Please wear red and white on this day in honour of our flag.      Spell-A-Thon - Fundraiser  Just a reminder that all pledge sheets are due back on Tuesday February 14th. The Spell-A-Thon will be held on Thursday February 16th. All pledge money is due on Wednesday February 29th. We appreciate your support with this fundraiser.  100th Day Of School  The K-2 students have been busy counting to the 100th Day of School since our first day back in September. We are working on activities next week and for some of them we need your help at home. The quilt squares are due back on Monday. The 100 things collections can be sent in during the week. We are also trying to raise 100 items for the Food Bank. If you can send in an item by Friday, that would be great. Right now the 100th Day will be on Friday February 17th, as long as there are no storm days.  Book Orders  Scholastic book order forms are due back on Friday February 17th.        Math Games  The K-2 students will be bringing Math Games home during the month of February. They will go home on Moday and are due back on Wednesday. Please enjoy the games with your family.    Have a great week! Happy Valentine's Day!

Ed days this week are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.      Library  Our library day is on Wednesday.        Borrow-A-Book  After being off for two weeks, it is important that we get back to reading every night.  Hi Everyone,  Hope you had a good weekend. We will be busy during the last two weeks before the Christmas Break.  We were very lucky to have  Ms. Pinder as a student intern in our class since September. Thursday December 15th will be her last day with us. We were glad to have her as a part of our class. We will miss her and we wish her well as she starts her career as a teacher.    Phys.Ed  Our Phys.Ed days this week are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.        Christmas Store  The students will be able to bring money to shop for Christmas gifts for Mom and Dad on Tuesday December 13th. The store will be open in the library.      Christmas Dinner  Our school Christmas Dinner will be on Wednesday December 14th. The cost of the dinner is $4.50. If you do not like turkey you will have to bring your own lunch.      Skating  We have skating on Thursday December 15th. Students will need skates and a helmet. Parents are welcome to come and skate with us. Ice time is 9:00 - 9:40 AM.      International Project  It was an exciting week with work on our project. We had two live reorting days this week on Tuesday and Friday. Jesse, Cole, Kobe, Tayrn, Jantzen and Tyson did a super job as the weather and class reporters and poetry readers. On Tuesday we mailed our Christmas cards to them and on Friday there was lots of excitement as the students received their letters from Texas! There were three days last week that we were warmer than Dallas.      Library  We have library on Wednesday. Don't forget your book.        Have a great week!

 Hello Everyone,  We are into the month of December! The days are going by fast and we are keeping busy.        Phys.Ed  Our Phys.Ed days are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.        Library  We have library on Wednesday. Remember to bring your book.        International Project  We are working on making Christmas cards and ornaments to send to our friends in Texas. The students were very surprised and excited to find out that we were warmer than Texas two days last week and again today! We will do our weekly report with them tomorrow. Another activity this month is a shared writing on our Family Christmas Traditions.    Borrow-A-Book  Just a reminder to make sure that you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.      Have a wonderful week!

                              Hi Everyone,   It is hard to believe that November is coming to an end. The students did a wonderful job with the Play With Your Food Art Show.  Thank you again to all parents for helping with the project. They are now writing stories about their character.    Phys. Ed  Our Phys.Ed days this week are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.         School Clothing   School Clothing will be in Tuesday November 29th for those who placed orders.         Report Cards   Report Cards go home on Tuesday November 29, 2011.   Parent Teacher Interviews are on Thursday 4 - 6 PM and Friday 9 - 11:30 AM.        School Credit Union Day  The Credit Union will be here on Tuesday November 29th.         Library   Library day is on Wednesday. Don't forget your book!           No School    Just a reminder that there is no school for students on Friday December 2nd.         Breakfast With Santa     The Home and School will be sponsoring Breakfast With Santa on Saturday December 3rd from 9 - 11:30 AM.          Have a great week!

 Hi Everyone,  The days are getting colder. Please make sure that you are dressed for the weather. The mornings are chilly and frosty, so make sure you have a coat and hat and mittens.        Phys.Ed  Our Phys.Ed days this week are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.        Play With Your Food Art Show  Just a reminder that the Grade 2 and 3 classes will be hosting a Play With Your Food Art Show on Wednesday November 23, 2011. A Memo was sent home out lining the project. Check Monday and Tuesday for more information. Each student is asked to make a character for the show. We will be sending home black eyed peas which work very well for eyes, and toothpicks on Tuesday. Remember the characters can only be made the night before. Parents are invited to come to the school after 10:00am on Wednesday to view the show. Check out the image gallery for pictures of last years show.    Scholastic Book Fair Our school Book Fair will take place this week from Monday - Thursday. Monday will be a viewing day only. Students will have the chance to visit and view the books that are available.  Family Night will be Tuesday from 5-7pm. The fair will also be opened daily to the students from 9am - 3pm.    International Project  On Friday we had our live weekly report with our friends in Dallas. Wynter, Cheyenne and Danae did a  wonderful job as class reporter, weather reporter and poetry reader. Thursday November 24th is Thanksgiving Day in the United States and our friends are off school for the entire week.      Have a great week!

 Hi Everyone,  I hope you enjoyed your weekend. We are half way through the month of November already. Remember to pack a hat and mittens in your back packs so you have them if you need them.        Phys.Ed  Our Phys.Ed days this week are on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.        Library  Wednesday is our library day. Remember to bring your books back.        Skating  Our first skating day of the year is on Thursday November 17th from 9:00 - 9:40am. The students will need to have skates and a CSA approved helmet. Parents are welcome to come and join us on the ice.        International Project  We had our first video conference with our partner class in Dallas, Texas on Thursday November 10th. The students had a chance to meet their pen pals, tell them about themselves and ask questions. Madison, Colin and Damian did a super job with the class report, weather report and poetry reading. The students were very excited to have the chance to talk with their friends. We were surprised to find out that we were warmer than Dallas on Thursday. Our next activity will be the Play With Your Food Art Show, coming up next week. More information will be sent home this week.    Homework  Just a reminder that the students should be reading their book each night and recording it on their reading log sheet. Please remember that the red homework folders are due back each day.        Class Pictures  Our class pictures are in.  Hi Everyone,  Hope you enjoyed the weekend and remembered to set your clocks back.  Just a reminder that this is a four day week.        Phys.Ed  Our Phys.Ed days are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.        Library  Wednesday is our library day. Remember to bring your book back.        Remembrance Day Service  We will be having our school Remembrance Day Service on Thursday November 10th at 10:00am.          International Project  We will be having our first video conference with our friends in Texas on Thursday. The students will have the chance to talk with their buddy and find out a little more about them.      Rememberance Day  Friday November 11th is Rememberance Day. A special thank you to all veterans and to those brave men and women who are still serving our country. Thank you for our freedom and allowing us to live in such a wonderful country.  Take time to remember.    Skating  Our first skating day of the season will be next Thursday November 17th, from 9:00 - 9:40am.  Hi Everyone,  Hope you had a fun and restful weekend. It is hard to believe we are into the last week of October!          Phys.Ed  We had Phys.Ed today and have it again on Wednesday and Thursday.        Library  Our library day is on Wednesday. Remember to bring your book back.        Fast ForWord  We are into our 5th week of the computer based literacy program. The students are working hard every day and are trying to beat their scores. The program helps with different literacy aspects along with memory, attention, processing and sequencing.    Pumpkin Carving Contest  The Home and School is sponsoring a pumpkin carving contest for the students on Wednesday October 26th. If you would like to participate, bring your carved pumpkin to school on Wednesday.        Borrow-A-Book  Just a reminder to make sure you read each night and record the book on your log sheet.        Have a great week!

 Hello Everyone,  I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your families. It was a beautiful weekend! I hope you got out to enjoy the sunshine.    Phys.Ed  We have Phys.Ed on Wednesday and Thursday this week.        Library  We will go to the library on Wednesday. Make sure you bring your books back.        Fire Prevention Week  This week is Fire Prevention Week. We will be talking about fire safety. Make sure you check the batteries in your smoke detectors.        Project With Texas  We have started work on our project with our friends in Texas. Together we gathered ideas and discussed what we should put in our class introduction letter. On Friday we planted our tulips with the grade 3 classes. We will post some pictures later in the week. Starting Tuesday  the students will write individual letters to their pen pals. On Friday we will begin our weekly weather and class reports.    Have a great week!
