It is hard to believe that we are down to our last week before Christmas vacation. Our Christmas Concert was today and the students did a fabulous job with their performances. Super job Grade 2!     Class Project With Texas We had our weekly report today and Shelbie and Drake O., did  a super job as the reporters. There is no snow in Texas, as of today it looks like a green Christmas for them. Our reporters last week were Isabel and Jade, what a wonderful job they did! We even surprised our friends in Texas with a visit from Santa!   Just a reminder that our last day of classes is on Friday December 18th, 2009. First day back for students is Wednesday January 6th, 2010.         I would like to wish all my students and their families a very Merry Christmas! Enjoy your holiday! I look forward to working with you in 2010.

It is hard to believe that there are  only 17 more days until Christmas! The students are getting excited  and there are lots of activities going on. Our Christmas dinner for students is tomorrow, December 9th. The cost of the turkey dinner is $3.50. This is the only meal being served in the cafeteria. If your child does not wish to have this meal they will have to bring their own lunch.   Christmas Shopping A reminder that students can shop on Wednesday December 9th and Thursday December 10th. Items are between $1.00 and $3.00.     Skating We have skating on Thursday December 10th. Our ice time is from 9:00 - 9:40am. Students need skates and helmets. Parents are welcomed to join us.     Enjoy the rest of your week!

Olympic Torch Ceremony The students were cold and wet, but quite excited to be part of such a wonderful ceremony. We were very proud of all our students for doing their best in the cold, wet, weather. Super job Grade 2!   Mascots We had the chance to see some of the Olympic Mascots. This is Quatchi.     Skating Lots of fun and exercise was had on Monday during our second skate time. Just a not to parents that are next date for skating is on Thursday December 10th.     Book Orders December book orders are due on Friday December 4th.       Enjoy the rest of your week!

Olympic Torch Relay   Wow! What an exciting day we have tomorrow! All students from K-8 will be going to JMH to see the Olympic Torch Relay. The students are looking forward to this big event and we have been checking in to see where the torch is on it's journey across Canada. Just a reminder that students will need to bring their lunch tomorrow, as the cafeteria is not open. Show your Canadian colours and wear red and white tomorrow. Remember to dress for the weather. GO CANADA GO!   Skating We have skating on Monday November 30th. Our ice time is from 9:00 - 9:40. Students need to bring their skates and helmets. Parents are welcomed to join us for this activity.       Have a super weekend!

Howdy Y'all! We have been having a very exciting week!  We were so excited to have Ms. Sands visiting us from Dallas,Texas. We learned some new things and she brought us notes, books, pencils and Texas taffy from our pen pals.   We also did our Play With Your Food Art Show. What a fabulous job the students did with their projects. The show was enjoyed by students, staffs and parents. This is one of the projects that our friends in Dallas told us about, so it was great to have Ms. Sands here for the show. Mrs. Stymiest took some great photos and we will have them up soon.   Book Fair Our school Book Fair is being held in the library this week. If you have not had a chance to stop by yet it is going on until Thursday November 19th.     Just a reminder that there is no school on Friday November 20th.         Enjoy the rest of your week!

Hello Everyone! Our Remembrance Day Service will be held today in the school gym at 10:00 pm   Just a reminder that there is no school tomorrow, Wednesday November 11th, as it is Remembrance Day.   Book Orders November book orders are going home today and they are due back on Friday November 13th.       Class Project With Texas We were able to do our weather and class reports last week. Emma and Dalton did a great job as our reporters. The students learned about Tornado Drills from our Texan friends. As part of our project we will be doing our Play With Your Food Art Show. This will take place on Tuesday November 17th. More information will be going home with the students today.   Enjoy the rest of your week!

We have started a new month and have some different activities planned. Keep checking in, to find out what is new.  Reports went home today and I hope to meet with all parents on Thursday or Friday.       Skating We had our first day of skating yesterday. The students had lots of fun and got lots of exercise. Our next day is on November 30th.       Class Project With Texas We have been having technical problems, but hope to be able to do our weather report tomorrow. As part of this project, one of our activities is the Play With Your Food art show. This will be held the 3rd week of November. More information will be sent home next week.   No School Just a reminder that there is no school on Friday November 6th. Parent Teacher interviews will be on Thursday from 6-8pm and on Friday from 9-11:30am.       Enjoy the rest of your week!

We are already into the last week of October. The days are going fast and we have been very busy.       Daily 5 The students have been doing a good job with the program. Today we reached 20 minutes of Independent Reading. Super job Grade 2! We are ready to add the writing componet. Keep checking in to see how we are doing.   Skating Our first skating date is on Monday November 2nd from 9:00 - 9:40. Students will needs skates and a helmet.   Class Project With Texas We finished up our letters and mailed them off to Texas last week. We were unable to connect with Texas to do our live weather report. We are hoping that the connection works tomorrow.   Have a safe and Happy Halloween!

Hello Everyone! Last week was a very busy week with lots of things going on. Stay tuned to find out about some of the things we have been working on.       Tulip Garden/Project With Texas Our Grade 2 classes planted our tulips last week. It was a very chilly day, but we planted all 50 tulip bulbs. We will be comparing our garden with our class in Texas. We found out that it is too warm for them to plant their bulbs at this time. They can't plant them until January! They are keeping them in the fridge! We had our first video conference last Wednesday and the students had a chance to talk to their pen pals. We are writing our first letter and will start our live weather reports this week.   Daily 5 Great news, our class reached 15 minutes of independent reading! We are also working on different ways to Read To Someone. We will keep you updated to let you know how we are doing. Have an awesome week!

Welcome Back! I hope that everyone enjoyed their extra long Thanksgiving weekend.  We are into another short week.  Just a reminder that picture retakes and school clothing orders will take place on Wednesday October 14th.       Tulip/International Project Wednesday October 14th is a big day!  We will have our first video conference with our partner class in Dallas, Texas. The students are very excited and can't wait to meet their pen pals. We received their letters today and were very happy to receive the package. We will be starting return letters this week.  Tomorrow afternoon we will be planting our tulip garden. This is part of our project with Texas. Stay tuned for more information and photos.   Daily 5 The students are working hard on this aspect. We reached 13 minutes of independent reading today. We have also been learning the different ways to "Read To Someone".   Book Orders October Book Order forms went home today and are due back on Friday October 16th.       Please make sure that you read each night.       Have a wonderful week everyone!

 Hello Everyone! This was a short week, but a busy one. We have been working hard on the Daily 5 and have reached 10 minutes. Super job Grade 2! We have now started working on "Read To Someone". Today we will have an assembly on Fire Safety. Make sure to practice your own fire escape plan at home.   No School Just a reminder that there is no school for students on Thursday October 8th and Friday October 9th, as they are CI Days for teachers. Boys and girls, please make sure that you do some reading on your days off. This is a chance to read your books and have someone read to you.   Happy Thanksgiving!   We are into our fourth week of school and the fall season. The mornings are getting cooler, so please make sure that your children are dressed for the weather.         Terry Fox Walk The walk was cancelled on Friday because of the weather.  Please note that it has been rescheduled for this Friday October 2ND at 1:00pm. Parents are welcomed to join us.     Daily 5 We have been working on the Daily 5 over the past week. This is a literacy program to help us to become better independent readers and writers. Today we made it to 41/2 minutes. We are working every day to build our stamina.     No School Just a reminder to parents that there is no school on Thursday October 8th and Friday October 9th, as they are curriculum days for teachers.       Enjoy the rest of your week!

 Welcome to our class!   This year we have 19 students in our class.  We are excited to start our grade 2 year. There are lots of fun and new projects to work on.  Keep checking back to find out what is going on in our class.     Terry Fox Walk   On Friday September 25th, our school will hold our annual Terry Fox Walk . Students are asked to bring in a small donation.  Parents are welcome to come and walk with us. We will be starting at 1:00pm.   Borrow-A-Book   We have started our Borrow-A-Book Program.  Each night your child will be bringing home a book to read. It is important that they read every night.  Please make sure that they read and their reading log is filled out.   Book Orders Our first book order is due on Friday September 25th. The students have really enjoyed the book Chester by Melanie Watts, and it is in this months order.       Enjoy the rest of your week!
