 Hi Everyone,I hope you enjoyed your weekend! We are hoping for warmer temperatures this week. Please make sure you are dressed for the weather.   Phys. Ed Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.     Credit Union School Credit Union day is on Tuesday January 20th.    Library Our library day is Wednesday. Make sure you bring your book so you can take out another one.   Math We are working on a unit with Addition and Subtraction to 18. Students have been learning strategies to help with adding and subtraction. We will be sending home some of these this week, so they can work on them at home. Keep counting in different ways and using money to count.  Homework/Borrow-A-Book Homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling list this week focuses on the /u/ vowel sound, but with /oo/  and /ou/. Please make sure that you are reading each night and recording your book on the log sheet.  Have a fabulous week!

 Hi Everyone,  I hope you had a fun weekend! We are back to a 5 day week and hopefully some warmer temperatures. Please make sure that you are dressed for the weather.      Phys. Ed  Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.          Library  Our library day is on Wednesday, Make sure you bring your book back so you can get another one out.      Skating  We have skating on Thursday January 15th with our buddies, Mrs. Woods Grade 4 class. Our ice time is from 9:00 - 9:40 AM. Students will need their skates and helmet. Please join us if you are able to.    Math  We have started our unit on Addition and Subtraction to 18. We will be working on different strategies to help with adding and subtracting. Some of those are doubles, adding on, and ways to make 10. Students can keep work on counting in different ways at home. This week we will be sending home sheets for strategies and addition facts.    Borrow-A-Book/Homework  The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week focus on the long /i/ bossy /e/ vowel sound. Please make sure that you are reading your book each night and recording it on the log sheet. Remember to use your strategies to help with unknown words.    Scholastic Book Order  If you would like to order a book for this month, order forms are due back on Friday January 16th.          Have a wonderful week!

 Hi Everyone,  Welcome back and Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday with their family.    Cold Weather  We are into some cold weather days. Please make sure you are dressed for the weather. It would be a good idea to keep an extra pair of mittens and socks in your book bag.    Phys. Ed  Our Phys. Ed days this week are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.        Library  We have library on Wednesday. If you did not return your book before Christmas, please bring it back for this week.    Math  We are starting a new unit on adding and subtracting to 18. Students can keep working on counting in different ways at home. We will be using different strategies to help with adding and subtracting. Watch for these sheets to be coming home next week.    Homework/ Borrow-A-Book  This week we will just be working on reading and sight words for homework. After being off for 2 weeks it is important that we get back into reading each night. Please make sure that you read your book and record it on the log sheet.    Have a super week!

 Hi Everyone,  I hope you had a wonderful and fun weekend! Can you believe this is our last week before the Christmas Break? Just a reminder that the last day of classes is on Friday December 19th and it is a full day.      Credit Union  School Credit Union Day is on Monday December 15th.        Christmas Concert  Our annual Christmas Concert is on Wednesday December 17th.  The K-2 students perform at 12:00 PM  The 3-5 students and Middle School students are on at 9:00 am.  The storm date for the concert is Thursday December 18th.    Borrow-A-Book  Please make sure you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.    Phys. Ed  Our Phys. Ed days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.        Math  We are finishing up our unit on Numbers to 100. You can keep counting in different ways and counting with money at home.    Christmas Spirit Week  Tuesday - Christmas Hat or Head Gear Day  Wednesday - Concert- Dress Up Day or Red, Green, White Day  Thursday - Christmas Sweater Day  Friday - PJ or Flannel Day      I would like to wish all of my students and their families a wonderful Christmas.  Hi Everyone  I hope you had a wonderful weekend! This is a busy week, so make sure you check the agendas. We are having some very cold weather days, so please dress warmly.        Phys. Ed  Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.          Christmas Shoppe  Our annual Christmas Shoppe will be held on Tuesday December 9th. Students are able to go and shop for presents for their parents.        Christmas Dinner  Our annual Christmas Dinner will be held on Wednesday December 10th. The meal is a turkey dinner with dessert and drink. If you did not order the dinner, you will need to bring your lunch on that day.    Skating  We will be skating with our Grade 4 buddies in 4W on Thursday December 11th. Our ice time is from 9:00 - 9:40 AM. Students need their skates and helmet. Please join us if you can.      Math  We are finishing up our unit on Numbers to 100. This week we will be focusing on comparing numbers and ordering numbers. It is review week for our spelling words, so there are 12 words that we already had.    Class Project With Texas  Our friends are back from their Thanksgiving break. We were happy to meet with them again. Rachel, Alexa and Lily did a super job as the reporters and the poetry reader. We will not be taking any more books out until the New Year.    Book Fair  The Home and School will be hosting the Book Fair From December 1 - December 4 in the library. Family Night is on Wednesday December 3rd from 5-8 PM.    Math  We have been working on representing numbers in different ways and this week we will do some work with equal and unequal sets and comparing numbers. Keep working on counting in different ways and counting with money.    Homework/ Borrow-A-Book  Please make sure you are reading your book each night and recording it on the log sheet.  Hi Everyone,  Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed your long weekend! Please make sure you are dressed for the weather as the days are getting colder. Make sure you bring your book back.    Play With Your Food Art Show  Our 8th annual Play With Your Food Art Show, will take place on Wednesday November 26th. The Grade 2 & 3 classes will be making characters out of fruits or vegetables for the show. A memo was sent home about the projects and we will be sending home the black eyed peas and toothpicks on Tuesday. You can use these to help make the character. They can only be made the night before. Check out the image galleries on the school home page and our class page to look at pictures of previous years.    Math  We are working on place value, 10s and 1s and representing numbers in different ways. This is part of our unit on Numbers to 100. Keep working on counting in different ways and counting with money at home.      Homework/Borrow-A-Book  Please make sure you are reading your book each night and recording it on your log sheet. The homework for the week is listed in the orange folder. Our spelling words this week focus on the long /a/ boosy e vowel sounds.     Class Project With Texas Ally and Jamie-Lynn did a great job as the reporters on Thursday and the class did a super job with the poetry reading. It was still chilly at the beginning of the week down there, but it warmed up by the end of the week. We mailed out our letters to them on Friday. Our friends are off this week as they celebrate Thanksgiving.        Have a wonderful week!

 Hi Everyone,  I hope you had a fun weekend! Our weather is turning colder and the mornings are chilly. Please make sure you are dressed for the weather. You should have your hats and mittens with you.    Phys.Ed  Our Phys.Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.        Library  We go to the library on Wednesday. Make sure you bring your book back so you can get another one.      Reports/ Parent Teacher Days  The first term report cards go home on Tuesday November 18th.  Parent Teacher interviews will be held on:                            Thursday November 20th - 4:00-6:30 PM                            Friday November 21st - 9:00 - 11:30 AM    Orders For School Clothing  Edgewater Embroidery will be at the school on Thursday and Friday during Parent/Teacher interview times if you would like to order school clothing. Please note that you must pay for your orders at that time.    School Credit Union  School Credit Union day is on Tuesday November 18th.        Math  This week we are working on place value and 10s and 1s. Keep working on counting by 2s, 5s and 10s and counting with money.      Homework/Borrow-A-Book  Please make sure you are reading your book each night and using your strategies. The focus for our spelling words is the long /o/ and /e/ vowel sounds.    Class Project With Texas  We met with our friends on Friday. Avery, Nevaeh and Dustin did a super job as the reporters and poetry reader. We were surprised to find out that we were actually warmer than Dallas for three days last week. They were at -2C and found it very cold. We are finishing up our letters to them and will mail them out this week.    No School  Just a reminder that there is no school for students on Friday November 21st. This is a Parent Teacher Day and PD day for teachers.    Food Bank  Our school is still collecting items for the Food Bank. Please bring in some items if you can.      Have a super week!

 Hi Everyone,  I hope you had a good weekend. Make sure you are dressed for the weather.          Remembrance Day Service  Our school Remembrance Day Service is on Monday November 10th at 10:00 am. Please join us if you can. Students are asked to bring a donation for the poppy.        Remembrance Day  Remembrance Day is on Tuesday November 11th. Please take time to remember the brave men and women who have helped to give us the freedom we enjoy today.        Phys. Ed  Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Thursday and Friday.        Library  Our library day is on Wednesday. Make sure you bring your book back.      Scholastic Book Orders  If you would like to order a book from the November Book Club, please have your order in by Friday November 14th.        Math  We are working on our unit on Numbers to 100. This week we are focusing on estimation and 10s and 1s. Keep working on counting in different ways at home.    Homework/Borrow-A-Book  Please make sure you are reading your book each night and recording it on your log sheet. The spelling words this week focus on the /ar/ sound.    Class Project With Texas  Autumn, Austin S., and Carson did a great job as our reporters and poetry reader. Our friends were very surprised to find out that we had some snow already. Our students were very excited to recieve their first letters from their pen pals. Ed days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.        Library  Our library day is on Wednesday, make sure you bring your book back.      Food Bank  Our school is collecting items for the Food Bank during the month of November. Please bring in some items if you can.      Math  We are continuing to count in different ways and working with numbers to 100. Keep counting with money at home. This week we will be working on estimation.      Homework/Borrow-A-Book  The homework for the week is in the orange notebook. Our spelling words this week focus on the short /u/ vowel sound. Please make sure you are reading each night and record your book on the log sheet.    Class Project With Texas  We met with our friends on Thursday. Alyssa, Madyson and Zoe did a great job as the reporters and poetry reader. They had their Play With Your Food Art Show last week and they sent us some pictures. Their letters are on their way to us.    Remembrance Day Service  Our school Remembrance Day Service is on Monday November 10th at 10:00am.    Skating  Our first skating day is on Thursday November 6th. Ice time is 9:45 - 10:30am. Students will need skates and a CSA approved helmet. Parents and Grandparents are invited to join us if you are available.          Have a great week!

Make sure you bring your book back so you can get another one.      Halloween Lunch Special  If you would like to order the special for October 31st, you need to pre-order by Tuesday October 28th. The cost is $6.00,      K-2 Halloween Movie Night  The Home & School will be hosting a movie night for all K-2 students in the school cafeteria on Wednesday October 29th at 6:00pm.    Pumpkin Carving Contest  The Home & School will be hosting a pumpkin carving contest at the school on Wednesday October 29th. Bring your carved pumpkins to the school on Wednesday if you would like to participate.        Math  We are continuing to work on our unit of Numbers to 100. We have been using money to count in different ways. Keep working with this at home.      Homework/Borrow-A-Book  Please make sure that you are reading your book each night and record it on the log sheet. Homework for the week is in the orange folders. Our spelling list this week is a review week, there are 12 words.    Food Drive  Our school is collecting food items for the Food Bank for the rest of this month and next month. Please bring in some items if you can.     Class Project with Texas  We had our weekly report on Friday. Lily, Colby and Rileigh did a great job as the class and weather reporters and poetry reader. As we check the weather each day we noticed that they are a lot warmer than we are. They told us that they can still swim in their outdoor pools. They have not planted their tulips yet because the ground is too hot. They have to keep them in the fridge until they plant them in December!      Happy Halloween  Students are asked to wear orange and black on Friday October 31st.  Have a fun and safe night when you are out trick or treating.      Have a great week!

Make sure you bring your book back.     Collaborative Project With Texas  We had our first weekly report on Friday and got to meet our new friends in Texas! Cecilia, Austin M. and Luke did a super job as our reporters and poetry reader. Each student got to say hello to their buddy as well. We will meet with them weekly to share our weather report, class report and poems.    Math  We are working on Numbers to 100. This week we will work more with ordinal numbers and counting with money. You can practice counting in different ways at home using real coins.      Food Bank  Our school will be collecting items for the Food Bank the rest of this month and next month. Bring back your book, so you can sign out another one.   Scholastic Book Order The October book order is due on Friday October 17th, if you would like to order a book.    Food Bank Our school will be collecting food items for the Food Bank for the rest of this month and the month of November. Please bring in something if you can.  Math We are working on our unit of Numbers to 100. We have been working on even and odd numbers and will start ordinals and counting with money. Keep working on counting in different ways at home, forwards and backwards, by 2s, 5s and 10s.  Homework/Borrow-A-Book Please make sure you are reading your book each night and recording it on the log sheet. Homeowrk for the week is listed in the orange homework book. Our spelling words this week focus on the short /o/ vowel sound.  Class Project With Texas We have started our project with our friends in Texas. We are partnered with a Grade 2 class at St. John's Episcopal School in Dallas, Texas. We have written our class letter together and sent it to them. They sent us their letter as well.  Each student has been paired up with another student in the class and will write letters back and forth each month. Our friends in Texas are writing the letter for October. On Tuesday October 7th, we planted our tulip garden. We will observe our garden throughout the year and compare it with the one in Texas and others around the world.   Have a super week!

 Hi Everyone, I hope you had a good weekend, even though it was wet and rainy. The mornings are getting cooler, so make sure you are dressed for the weather.  Phys.Ed Our Phys.Ed days this week are Monday and Tuesday.     Spirit Week Our School We Day Group is putting together Spirit Week at our school. Students are asked to participate in the events and bring a $1.00 for a donation. All money raised will go to Free The Children.Monday - School Colours Day - Wear Burgundy and GoldTuesday - Twin Day - Dress the same as a friend. Wear the same colours.                           Wednesday - 80's Day  Library Wednesday is our library day. Make sure you bring your book.   No School There is no school for students on Thursday October 9th and Friday October 10th, as they are Professional Learning Days for teachers.   Homework/Borrow-A-Book Please make sure you are reading your book each night and completing your homework. The homework for the week is listed in the folder. Make sure you record your book on the log sheet.  Math We have started our unit on Numbers to 100. We will be working on counting in different ways and using lots of different materials. You can work on counting by 2s, 5s and 10s at home.   Fire Prevention Week October 5 - October 11 is Fire Prevention Week. We will be working on Fire Safey at school. You can be fire safe at home too. Check your smoke detectors and know 2 ways out.    Happy Thanksgiving Monday October 13th is Thanksgiving Day.
