Grade 2 News - April 16 - April 20

Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a fun weekend!

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Our library day is on Tuesday. Please bring your book back so you can sign out another one.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the grey folders. Our spelling words this week focus on compound words. Two little words that make up one big word. The word work activity is on compound words as well. In Math we have started working on estimation. When we estimate we make a good guess on about how many there are. We continue to work on adding, subtraction and counting in different ways. There is a sheet on counting on by 10s using dimes. We are working on reading comprehension stories. As Earth Day is coming up, there is a story about that and questions to answer. Remember to use the strategies we are working on: Read the story twice; read the questions; find the answer in the story and highlight or underline it; circle the right answer. Please make sure you are reading your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Collaborative Project With Dallas, Texas - We met with our friends on Thursday. Brooke and Kian did a super job as the class and weather reporters. The class did two poems together: What The Robin Told and It's Time For Spring! They did a fabulous job! Our friends got our letters. They loved the pictures we sent them with all the snow. They sent us a video of the tulips in bloom!! We will have to wait a while to see our garden in bloom! We checked the Journey North Map and there are many gardens in the USA, Canada and around the world that have already emerged or bloomed. The ones that are farther north are still waiting.

Math Games - The math games will go home again on Tuesday. Please return them on Thursday. Make sure that all the pieces are put back in the bag and you sign the log sheet. Have fun!

Have a super week!
