Good Morning Everyone!

I do hope that you had a good day yesterday, and found some time to remember our Canadian Veterans, Soldiers, Peace Keepers and  Forces.

Happy Friday!

Here are some activities you can work on for today.

Calendar & Weather - There is a calendar page in the Documents section if you need one and a link to the weather in the Weblinks. You know our routine girls and boys. How many days are left in the month of November?

Word Work - Sight Words - We are working on 1 list at a time. Continue with the list you are at. Once you know all the words, have someone at home sign the sheet and go on to the next one. Spelling - Have someone at home call out the words for the list you are on. You can write them on the spelling sheet in your blue book. Today for your activity, rainbow write the sight word list you are working on. Use what you have, markers, crayons, pencil crayons. Choose 3 colours. You can do this in your journal or on a separate sheet. Write the first word down with one colour, then write over it again with the other 2 colours. Do this for each word on the list. This will help with spelling and reading the words.

Reading - Pick 1 levelled book to read. Share a book with someone at home. Choose a story book from the kit, one of your own, Tumble Books or the Remembrance Day poems. Use your strategies to help with your reading. Log all the books or poems you read on your log sheet.

Writing - Journal - Peace Is..... Remembrance week is also about peace. What does peace mean to you? Choose 4 different examples. In your journal, start each sentence with Peace is... Example - Peace is reading a book; Peace is taking a walk in the woods. When we feel peace , or what it means to us, is different for everyone. Draw a little picture for each example you give, Remember to begin and end your sentences the right way.

Squiggle Park - If you have access to a device, go on and play for 15 minutes. Your code and password are on the front cover of your agenda.

Math - Warm Up - Jack Hartman Video or count, exercise, and move on your own. Today try counting by 2s. In your blue book try the page, Numbers and Operations - Comparing and Ordering Numbers to 30. Putting numbers in order from least to greatest and greatest to least; filling in missing numbers on the 100 chart; fixing the mistakes on the number line. Play 1 math game from your kit. Today try the odd and even card game. All the materials you will need are in the kit. Instead you might want to try the District Math activity in the Documents section.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVcQH8A634mauPrGbWs7QlQ

Dream Box - If you have access to a device, go on and play for 15 minutes. Remember to do the activities with the star first. Your code and password are on the front cover of your agenda.

STEAM Time - If you haven't done an activity from the Choice Board this week, pick one to do. It can be found in the Documents section.

Outside Time - We are off to another sunny, frosty, chilly morning. It looks like the rain will hold off until this evening. Dress warm and head outside to explore, run, get some fresh air and have fun.

Have a good day Grade 2 and a fun and relaxing weekend! I miss you and hope to see you very soon!

If there is anything I can do to help or if you have any questions, please send me an e-mail. I am available throughout the day. Thank you for all of your support at home.

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope you had a good day yesterday and got outside to enjoy the day!

Just a reminder to check on Mrs. Dickson's & Mrs. O'Neill-Delano's pages for some activities from their class too.

Here are some activities you can work on today.

Calendar & Weather - If you have some extra time you can go over the day, date, month and year and check out the weather for the day. You know our routine boys and girls!

Word Work - Sight Words - Keep working on those lists. One list at a time, move on to the next one when you can read them all off with no problems. Spelling - Have someone at home call out the words for the list you are on and you can practice writing them on the page in your blue book. Today in your blue book, try the Blends (sl/dr/gr) page. Look at the picture, say the word, what 2 sounds do you hear together at the beginning? Pick 2 of the words and write a sentence for each one.

Reading - Pick one of your levelled books to read. Share with someone the book, We'll Never Forget, and there is a song too. The links are below on the class page. If you can't access this, choose a storybook to share. Use your strategies to help with your reading and add the books you read to your log sheet.

Writing - Journal - Today write a thank you note to a Veteran. Think of the wonderful, free country we live in, the things we have and are free to do every day. What would you say thank you for? Start with; Dear Veteran, write 4 good sentences that begin and end properly and tell a whole idea. Add a picture to go with your writing. Use the word sheets in your kit to help with your writing.

Squiggle Park - If you have access to a device, go on and play for 15 minutes. Your code and password are on the front cover of your agenda.

Math - Warm Up - Jack Hartman video, or move, exercise and count on your own. Try counting forwards to 50 and backwards from 50. In your blue book try the Numbers and Operations - Even and Odd Numbers. Colour the pictures with even numbers orange and the pictures with odd numbers yellow. Remember we check the ones place to see if a number is even or odd. Play 1 math game from the purple folder. Today try Double, Double, It's No Trouble. The materials you need are there in the kit. We have started doing a little work with doubles and will be doing more. See how you do.

Dream Box - If you have access to a device, go on and play for 15 minutes. Remember to do the activities with the blue star first. Your code and password are on the front cover of your agenda.

STEAM Time - Check out the choice board and do 1 activity, if you haven't done one yet this week. Remember it is just 1 for the week.

Outside Time - Looks like we are in for a cooler, cloudy day. Dress warm and head outside to explore, run and have some fun!

Veteran's Week/Remembrance Day - Some of the activities for today are about Remembrance Day. It is important that we remember and never forget what they did for us. Don't forget about the Remembrance Day poems in the Documents section, if you haven't read them yet.

No School - Just a reminder that tomorrow is Remembrance Day and there is no school. I do hope that you will take 2 minutes tomorrow to remember the service, courage and sacrifice of our Canadian Veterans, Soldiers, Peace Keepers and Forces.

Have a fantastic day Grade 2! I miss you and really hope to see all of you back at school soon!

If you need any help or support with activities, or have questions, please send me an e-mail. I am available throughout the day. Thank you for all your help and support at home.

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope you had a good day yesterday and enjoyed the sunshine!

Here are some activities for today.

Calendar/Weather - We do our calendar and weather every day. Use a calendar if you have one at home, or I have attached a November Calendar page at the bottom and in the Documents section. Go over the day, date, month and year. What day of the week is tomorrow? What day of the week was yesterday? There is a link below for the weather network, or you can check the Weather Network on TV. There are questions on the link to use.

Word Work - Sight Words - Keep working on the list you are at until you can read all words, without any problems. Once you know all the words, get someone at home to sign the page and you can go to the next list. Spelling - Have someone at home call out the words to you, and you can spell them on the spelling page for that list in your book. Once you can read and write these words it will also help with your reading and writing. In your blue book try the Word Work - Middle Sounds - Vowels (a/e/i/o/u) - B section. Look at the picture, say the word, what sound do you hear in the middle? If you have crayons, you can colour the pictures.

Reading - Pick one of your levelled books to read. Choose a story book to share with someone. One from the kit, one of your own or you can check out the Tumble Books site. Also there are some Remembrance Day poems, added below that you can also read. Use the strategies we have been working on to help with your reading. Make sure you record what you read on the log sheet.

Writing - Blue Book - Today try the Sight Words - List B - Sentences. Pick 5 of the 10 sight words and write a sentence for each one. Remember a sentence tells a whole idea and begins and ends properly. For a challenge, try to use more than 1 of the words in each sentence.

Squiggle Park - If you have access to a device, go on and play fro 15 minutes. Your code and password are on the front cover of your agenda.

Math - Warm Up - Jack Hartman Video - Count, move and exercise. If you can't get the video, count and move on your own. Today try counting by 2s. If you have a few other people at home, try Count around The Circle with them. Count by 2s to 30. Whoever says 20 or 30 are out. In your blue book, try the math page: Numbers - Counting In Dfferent Ways; by 1s to 30/ 2s to 30/ 10s to 100/ Backwards by 10s from 100. Play one of the math games from your kit. Today try, Fall Roll and Bump. All the materials you need are there.

Dream Box - If you have access to a device, go on and play for 15 minutes. Do the activities with the blue star first. Your code and password are on the front cover of your book.

STEAM Time - If you haven't done an activity yet and you have time today, check out the choice board and choose one to do for the week.

Outside Time - We are off to a frosty, sunny start to the day! It is supposed to warm up as the day goes on. Dress for the weather and head outside to explore, run and have some fun!

Veteran's Week/Remembrance Day - This week is a time for us to remember the sacrifice, courage and service of our Canadian Veterans, Soldiers and Forces. A poppy is a symbol to remember and never forget, those who sacrificed for our freedom. Today for Art, create your own poppy or a field of poppies. Use whatever materials you have available at home; crayons, markers, pencil crayons, paint. When you are done, hang it up somewhere in your house. This will be a reminder for you to remember and say thank you, whenever you see it. As well there are Remembrance Day poems added below.

Have a super day Grade 2! I miss you and hope to see you soon!

If there is anything I can do to help, or you have questions about any of the activities, please send me an e-mail. I am available throughout the day. Thank you for your support at home.
