Hi Everyone!

  • I  hope you had a fun weekend !
  • Please make sure you are dressed for the weather.  We have a lot more snow on the playground now!
  • It would be a good idea to have an extra pair of mittens and socks in your backpack.

Phys. Ed

  • Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Library

  • Our library day is on Tuesday.
  • Make sure you bring your book back so you can sign out another one.

Homework/Reading

  • The homework for the week is listed in the orange homework books.
  • Spelling words for the week focuses on the long /i/ and bossy /e/ that makes the vowel say its own name.
  • We will be working on them at school and sending them home to work on for homework.
  • We will do a test on the words on Friday.
  • Please continue with our sight word sheets. Remember to have the Homework Helper sign the list when you know all the words.
  • The word work activity focuses on words that have the long /i/ and bossy /e/ vowel sound. Look at the picture. Say the word. Can you spell the word? Listen for the long /i/ bossy /e/ vowel sound or the short /i/ vowel. Pick two words and write a sentence for each one. Make sure to add good details and begin and end your sentence the right way.
  • In Math we are working on counting by 2s starting at 1 and going up to 31. They will be all odd numbers. We have been working with counting money. This time you are counting the value of different coins.
  • Choose one book from the reading bag to read each night. Use your strategies to help with the reading and record your book on the log sheet.

Fundraising Campaign – NUMER-ACTION

  • Our Major School Fundraising Campaign will kick off on Wednesday February 1st.
  • Information packs and pledge sheets will be going home with all students on Wednesday.
  • It will also be School Colours/Clothing Day for our Kickoff.

Skating

  • Our next skating day is Thursday February 16th .
  • Students will need skates and a helmet.
  • Ice Time is 9:35 – 10:15AM.

Food Bank Challenge

Spirit Week

  • Our second Spirit Week of the year is this week.
  • The Raider Hat is up for grabs for the class with the most participation each day.

  • Wednesday – Christmas Concert Day – 9:00Am
  • Thursday – Christmas Hat/Socks Day
  • Friday – School Clothing or PJ Day

Christmas Concert

  • The School Christmas Concert will be on Wednesday December 21st at 9:00AM.

Skating

  • Our first skating day will be on Thursday December 22nd.

  • In Math we are working on counting by 5s to 75, and 10s starting at 4 and going to 104. We have started counting with money. Count the coins in each row and put the total value. Remember we count by the value of the coin. If you can’t remember what the coin is, check the bottom of the page.

Christmas Shop

  • Our annual Christmas Shop will take place in the library on Monday December 12th and Tuesday, December 13th.
  • Students can bring money to shop for their family.
  • Items are between $1 and $2.

  • In Math we are working on counting by 5s, 10s starting at different numbers; 2s starting at 1. We are also working on describing numbers and telling if they are even or odd numbers. Even numbers end in (0,2,4,6,8) and odd numbers end in (1,3,5,7,9).

Christmas Meal

-          The Christmas meal will be on Tuesday December 6th.

-          This meal was to be pre-ordered.

-          If your child did not order the meal, they will have to bring their lunch on that day.

Parent Teacher Interviews

-          Thursday, December 8th – 4:00 – 6:00PM

-          Friday, December 9th – 8:30 – 11:30AM

-          Please fill out the interview form that was sent home in the report card envelopes.

-          You can choose to come in person or do a phone interview.

-          Once you send in the form, an appointment time will be set up for you.

No School

-          There is no school for students on Friday December 9th.

-          It is Parent Teacher and a Professional Learning day for teachers.

Picture Retakes/Sibling Pictures

  • Picture retakes will be done on Wednesday October 12th.
  • This will also be for students who were absent on the first Picture Day in September.
  • If you would like to have sibling pictures done, please sign and return the blue form that was sent home.
