Phys. Ed

  • Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday,  Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Library

  • Our library day is on Tuesday.
  • Make sure you bring your book back so you can sign out another one.

Homework/Reading

  • The homework for the week is listed in the orange homework books.
  • Spelling words for the week focuses on compound words. Compound words are two smaller words that go together to make one bigger word.
  • We will be working on them at school and sending them home to work on for homework.
  • We will do a test on the words on Friday.
  • Please continue with our sight word sheets. Remember to have the Homework Helper sign the list when you know all the words.
  • The word work activity focuses on our spelling words. Read each sentence and circle the word that is missing. Use the two words in box  A to match with the words in box B to make a compound word.  Pick 2 compound words and write a sentence for each one. Make sure to add good details and begin and end your sentence the right way.
  • In Math we are working on increasing counting patterns. Count by 10s starting at 1. Use the bridging through ten strategy to help with adding. When we know the ways to make 10, that can help us with adding quickly.
  • Choose one book from the reading bag to read each night. Use your strategies to help with the reading and record your book on the log sheet.

Yearbook Orders

  • If you would like to order a yearbook this year, forms and money need to be in by April 26th.
  •  Cost of the yearbook is $20.00.

  • Spelling words for the week focuses on /ing/ endings. When a word has an /e/ at the end, we drop the /e/ and add /ing/. For some words we double the last letter and add/ing/.
  • We will be working on them at school and sending them home to work on for homework.
  • We will do a test on the words on Friday.
  • Please continue with our sight word sheets. Remember to have the Homework Helper sign the list when you know all the words.
  • The word work activity focuses on our spelling words. Read each sentence and circle the word that is missing. Use the two words in the box and write a sentence for each one. Make sure to add good details and begin and end your sentence the right way.
  • In Math we are working on increasing patterns. An increasing pattern gets bigger by the same amount each time.

Fundraising Assembly Wrap Up

  • Today at school we had our fundraising assembly.
  • There were lots of prize draws!
  • Every student received a water bottle with the school crest on it. Please note that the water bottles cannot go in the dishwasher. They need to be washed by hand.

Report Cards

  • Report Cards will be going home with students on Thursday April 6th.
  • Parent Teacher will be on Thursday April 13th and Friday April 14th.

Easter Meal

  • The Easter Meal will be on Thursday April 6th.
  • If you would like to order the meal, please pre-order by Wednesday April 5th.
  • The meal is ham dinner, potatoes, veggies, dessert, and milk for $7.50.
  • There will be no other meals served in the cafeteria on that day.

Easter Holiday

  • Just a reminder there is no school on Friday April 7th and Monday April 10th, for the Easter holiday.
  • Wishing all my students and their family a wonderful Easter holiday!

Fundraising Campaign – NUMER-ACTION

  • We had our activity day for our Numer-Action Fundraiser on Tuesday February 21st.
  • The students were involved in physical activity and math related activities throughout the day. They also completed their math fact test.
  • Students were asked to collect pledges for the amount of time they spent on activities.
  • All money raised goes to the Student Council in support of student activities.
  • Their Numer-Action Math Fact Test, Participation Form and Pledge Sheet have been sent home with the students.
  • Now it’s time to collect all pledge money owed.
  • All pledge money is due back on Thursday March 2nd.

Spirit Week

  • Our 3rd School Spirit Week will take place next week, February 27th- March 3rd.
  • Below is a list of the theme days.
  • Monday – Hoodie and or Toque Day
  • Tuesday – Neon/Rainbow/Tie-Dye Day
  • Wednesday – School Colours or School Clothing Day

  • Students will need skates and a helmet.
  • Ice Time is 9:35 – 10:15AM.

  • Just a reminder that the provincial Family Day Holiday is on Monday February 20th.

Food Bank Challenge

Spirit Week

  • Our second Spirit Week of the year is this week.
  • The Raider Hat is up for grabs for the class with the most participation each day.

  • Tuesday  - Christmas Shirt/Sweater Day
  • Wednesday – Christmas Concert Day – 9:00Am
  • Thursday – Christmas Hat/Socks Day
  • Friday – School Clothing or PJ Day

Christmas Concert

  • The School Christmas Concert will be on Wednesday December 21st at 9:00AM.

Skating

  • Our first skating day will be on Thursday December 22nd.
  • Students will need skates and a helmet.
  • If your child does not have skates or a helmet, we do have some extras at the school that they can use. Please let me know this week, so we can get them a pair to fit.
  • Parents/Guardians are welcome to come, please note that you must have skates on to go on the ice.

 

Last Day Of Classes

  • Our last day of classes before the Christmas Break is Friday December 23rd.
  • Please note that it is for half a day.
  • Dismissal will be at 11:30AM.

Phys. Ed

  • Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Library

  • Our library day is on Tuesday.
  • All library books are due back this week.
  • We will not be taking any books out this week and will start again in January.

Homework/Reading

  • The homework for the week is listed in the orange homework books.
  • Spelling words for the week focuses on the long /a/ and bossy or silent /e/ vowel sounds that make the vowel say their own name.
  • We will be working on them at school and sending them home to work on for homework.
  • We will do a test on the words on Friday.
  • Please continue with our sight word sheets. Remember to have the Homework Helper sign both sides of the sheet when you know all the words.
  • The word work activity focuses on words that have the long /a/, bossy /e/ vowel sound. Look at the picture. Say the word. Can you spell the word? Listen for the sounds, blends, and vowel sounds. Pick 2 words and write a sentence for each one. Make sure your sentence begins and ends properly and has good details.
  • In Math we are working on counting by 5s to 75, and 10s starting at 4 and going to 104. We have started counting with money. Count the coins in each row and put the total value. Remember we count by the value of the coin. If you can’t remember what the coin is, check the bottom of the page.
  • Choose one book from the reading bag to read each night. Use your strategies to help with the reading and record your book on the log sheet.

Christmas Shop

  • Our annual Christmas Shop will take place in the library on Monday December 12th and Tuesday, December 13th.
  • Students can bring money to shop for their family.
  • Items are between $1 and $2.

Skating

  • Our first skating day will be on Thursday December 22nd.
  • Students will need skates and a helmet.
  • If your child does not have skates or a helmet, we do have some extras at the school that they can use. Please let me know this week, so we can get them a pair to fit.
  • Parents/Guardians are welcome to come, please note that you must have skates on to go on the ice.

Water Bottles

  • Just a reminder to bring in a water bottle that you can refill and use throughout the day.
