Homework/Reading

• The homework for the week is listed in the orange homework books.
• Spelling words for the week focus on question words. Some of the words begin with /wh/.
• We will be working on them at school and sending them home to work on for homework.
• We will do a test on the words on Friday.
• Please continue with our sight word sheets. Remember to have the Homework Helper sign the list when you know all the words.
• The word work activity focuses on our spelling words. Use each of the words in the box and write a question for it. Make sure to add good details and begin and end your sentence the right way. Questions end with a ?.
• In Math we are working on adding 2-digit numbers. The students have been using strategies that work best for them to help them add. Remember to show your work. How did you get the answer? If we have too many ones, we can make another ten.
• Choose one book from the reading bag to read each night. Use your strategies to help with the reading and record your book on the log sheet.

Jump Rope For Heart

• If you would like your child to participate in this event, sign the orange permission slip that went home and return it to school.
• We will send the fundraising information and envelope back to you.
• Pledges and money are due back on Monday May 29^th.
• Jump Day will be on Friday June 2^nd.

Middle School Entrepreneur Fair

• This will take place on Friday May 26^th.
• Middle School students will be selling products that they made.
• Students will be able to purchase the items.
• A memo with the product list and prices will be going home this week.

• Spelling words for the week focuses on contractions. We use a special mark called an apostrophe when we write words like I’m or it’s.
• We will be working on them at school and sending them home to work on for homework.
• We will do a test on the words on Friday.

• The word work activity focuses on our spelling words. Write the contraction for the two words in each fish. Pick 2 contractions and write a sentence for each one. Make sure to add good details and begin and end your sentence the right way.
• In Math we are working on increasing patterns and counting by 10s. We have started working on adding 2-digit numbers. The students have been using strategies that work best for them to help them add.

• Spelling words for the week focuses on compound words. Compound words are two smaller words that go together to make one bigger word.
• We will be working on them at school and sending them home to work on for homework.
• We will do a test on the words on Friday.
• Please continue with our sight word sheets. Remember to have the Homework Helper sign the list when you know all the words.
• The word work activity focuses on our spelling words. Read each sentence and circle the word that is missing. Use the two words in box  A to match with the words in box B to make a compound word.  Pick 2 compound words and write a sentence for each one. Make sure to add good details and begin and end your sentence the right way.
• In Math we are working on increasing counting patterns. Count by 10s starting at 1. Use the bridging through ten strategy to help with adding. When we know the ways to make 10, that can help us with adding quickly.
• Choose one book from the reading bag to read each night. Use your strategies to help with the reading and record your book on the log sheet.

Yearbook Orders

• If you would like to order a yearbook this year, forms and money need to be in by April 26^th.
•  Cost of the yearbook is $20.00.

Report Cards

• Report Cards will be going home with students on Thursday April 6^th.
• Parent Teacher will be on Thursday April 13^th and Friday April 14^th.

Easter Meal

• The Easter Meal will be on Thursday April 6^th.
• If you would like to order the meal, please pre-order by Wednesday April 5^th.
• The meal is ham dinner, potatoes, veggies, dessert, and milk for $7.50.
• There will be no other meals served in the cafeteria on that day.

Easter Holiday

• Just a reminder there is no school on Friday April 7^th and Monday April 10^th, for the Easter holiday.

Fundraising Campaign – NUMER-ACTION

• We had our activity day for our Numer-Action Fundraiser on Tuesday February 21^st.
• The students were involved in physical activity and math related activities throughout the day. They also completed their math fact test.
• Students were asked to collect pledges for the amount of time they spent on activities.
• All money raised goes to the Student Council in support of student activities.
• Their Numer-Action Math Fact Test, Participation Form and Pledge Sheet have been sent home with the students.
• Now it’s time to collect all pledge money owed.
• All pledge money is due back on Thursday March 2^nd.

Spirit Week

• Our 3^rd School Spirit Week will take place next week, February 27^th- March 3^rd.
• Below is a list of the theme days.
• Monday – Hoodie and or Toque Day
• Tuesday – Neon/Rainbow/Tie-Dye Day
• Wednesday – School Colours or School Clothing Day

• The word work activity focuses on adding /s/ to a word when there is more than one. Look at the picture, say the word. Is there one or more than one? Circle the right spelling for each group. Pick two words and write a sentence for each one. Make sure to add good details and begin and end your sentence the right way.
• In Math we are working on our quick facts using our strategies. This is a practice for our Numer-Action math fact test. Can you get the answer quickly?

Fundraising Campaign – NUMER-ACTION

• Our Major School Fundraising Campaign kicked off on Wednesday February 1^st.
• Information packs and pledge sheets were sent home with all students on Wednesday.
• Students are asked to learn the list of math facts in their pact. We will be having a test on the facts on February 17^th.
• Students can ask family and friends to pledge them for the number of facts they get right and for the amount of time they are physically active on February 17^th.
• All money raised goes to the Student Council in support of student activities.
• All pledge sheets are due back on February 15^th.

Valentine’s Day

• Our class will be doing a valentine’s exchange on Tuesday February 14^th.
• Students can bring in valentines to exchange with their classmates.
• A list of class names was sent home with the students.
• The school will be providing fruit and vegetable trays for each class on this day.

Flag Day

• We will be celebrating Flag Day on Wednesday February 15^th.
• Staff and students are asked to wear red & white or Canada clothing.

Skating

• Our next skating day is Thursday February 16^th .
• Students will need skates and a helmet.
• Ice Time is 9:35 – 10:15AM.
• Please join us if you can!

Family Day

• Just a reminder that the provincial Family Day Holiday is on Monday February 20^th.
• Schools are closed on this day.
• Have a wonderful holiday with your family!
