Hi Everyone!
- Welcome back !

- Just a reminder to please make sure you are dressed for the weather.

Phys. Ed
- Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Library
- Our library day is now on Friday.
- Make sure you bring your book back so you can sign out another one.
- Students need to have their book returned in order to sign out a new one.
Homework/Reading
- Work on your words. Remember to use the sounds you know to help .
- Once you know all the words, have someone at home sign the sheet.
- Choose a book from the reading bag to read each night. Remember to sign the log sheet each time you read. Make sure you use your strategies to help with your reading.
- This week we have our spelling words. The focus is on the short /o/ vowel sound. We are sending them home to work on and we will be doing activities with them at school as well.
Cafeteria
- If your child is ordering , please write a note and put it in a bag or container.
- Lunch orders have to be sent to the cafeteria by 9:00AM.
Water Bottles
- Just a reminder to bring in a water bottle that you can refill and use throughout the day.
Christmas Shop
- We will be having our annual Christmas Shop on Monday December 11th and Tuesday December 12th.
- Students will be able to go and purchase gifts for Family members.
- We are looking for items for the sale, bags, tissue paper and wrapping paper. If you have some that are gently used that you can donate that would be appreciated.
- Please send in item by December 7th.
Skating
- Our first skating time of the year will be on Friday December 15th, from 8:45 – 9:35.
- Students will need skates and a helmet to go on the ice.
- If your child does not have skates and a helmet, please let me know, as we do have some extras here at the school.
- Parents and guardians are welcome to come with us, but please note that to go on the ice, you need to have skates.

Pumpkin Carving Contest
- If you would like to enter Nelson Rural’s Pumpkin Carving Contest, see the picture below for details.
- Carve your pumpkin at home.
- Take a picture of it and e-mail to shana_olsen@hotmail.com.
- Entries have to be e-mailed by Thursday October 26th.
- The classes will then vote on them.

Secret Path Week – Downie/Wenjack
- Our school will be taking part in Secret Path Week and making steps towards Reconcili-action.
- We will be doing a Walk For Wenjack. Our school is trying to walk 69 kilometers during the month of October in honour of Chaney Wenjack.
- If you can, please send in a donation in support of this.
- On Friday, all students and staff are asked to wear purple.

Fire Prevention Week
- This week is Fire Prevention Week.
- The theme this year is – Pay Attention To Fire Prevention!
- Please take some time to go over fire safety at home. Practice your home escape plan. Remember you should know two ways out and have a meeting place outside.
- The Fire Safety Gazette is going home this week. If your child would like to go in the draw for Fire Chief For The Day, they need to bring back the form.

Terry Fox Walk
- Our school will be taking part in the National School Terry Fox Walk on Wednesday September 27th.
- Terry was an amazing Canadian Hero who made a difference in the lives of many people with his dream of running across Canada to raise money for Cancer research.
- He ran for us, now we run/walk for him.
- Please bring in a donation if you can.
Orange Shirt Day
- We will be observing Orange Shirt Day and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Friday September 29th.
- Students and staff are asked to wear orange in honour of those children who are survivors of Residential Schools and those who didn’t make it home.

- There is no school on Monday October 2nd in observation of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

- It’s hard to believe, but it is our last week of school!!
Library
- Please return all library books if you have not done so already.
Reading Books
- If you still have some of the reading books at home, can you please send them back.
Students Appreciation Fun Day
- This will take place on Wednesday June 21st for all K-8 students.
- There will be different activities throughout the day.
- Lunch of hotdogs and chips will be provided, or your child can bring their own lunch that day. The cafeteria will not be opened.
Sports Day
- The K-2 Sports Day was today, Tuesday June 20th.
- The students were active throughout the day in 8 different events.
- They really enjoyed their lunch too!
Cafeteria
- The cafeteria will not be open on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday of this week.
- Students will have to bring their lunch Wednesday if they do not want hotdogs.
- Students will have to bring their lunch on Friday.
Last Day Of School
- The last day of school for this school year is on Friday June 23rd.
- Please note that it is a full day and dismissal is at the regular time.
