Hi Everyone!

  • I hope you enjoyed a good Thanksgiving holiday with your family!
  • The mornings are chilly now with frost.
  • You may want to pack a hat and some mittens or gloves, so you have them if you need them.

Phys. Ed

  • Our Phys. Ed days this week are  Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Library

  • Our library day is on Tuesday. Make sure you bring your book back so you can sign out another book.

Homework/Reading

  • The homework for the week is listed in the orange homework books.
  • This week we are continuing with our sight word sheets. Remember to have the Homework Helper sign both sides of the sheet when you know all the words.
  • The word work activity focuses on vowels. Look at the picture. Say the word and fill in the vowel sound you hear. Pick 1 word and write a sentence for it. Make sure your sentence begins and ends properly and has good details.
  • In Math we are comparing and ordering numbers to 30 and counting by 2s to 20.
  • Choose one book from the reading bag to read each night. Use your strategies to help with the reading and record your book on the log sheet.

Water Bottles

  • Just a reminder to bring in a water bottle that you can refill and use throughout the day.

  • In Math we are counting by 1s and 2s and comparing and ordering numbers.

Cafeteria

  • Thanksgiving Special Meal – Thursday October 6th.
  • These meals had to be pre-ordered.
  • If you did not order the meal, you will have to bring your lunch.

Water Bottles

  • Just a reminder to bring in a water bottle that you can refill and use throughout the day.

No School

  • There is no school on Monday October 10th for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Picture Retakes/Sibling Pictures

  • Picture retakes will be done on Wednesday October 12th.
  • This will also be for students who were absent on the first Picture Day in September.
  • If you would like to have sibling pictures done, please sign and return the blue form that was sent home.

Hi Everyone!

We are heading into our last week of September!

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Library - Our library day is on Tuesday. Students will be able to sign out a book to take home for the week. Books are due back the next Tuesday.

Homework/Reading - The homeowrk for the week is listed in the orange homework books. This week again we have sight words and reading. Once you know all the words on both sides of the sheet, have someone at home sign the sheet and return it in your book. We will send the next sheet once you can read them all. Make sure you read a book from the reading bag each night and record it on the log sheet.

Thanksgiving Meal - If you would like to order the Thanksgiving meal which will be served on Thursday October 6th, Pre-Orders are asked to be in on Thursday September 29th. A form went home for the orders. The cost of the meal is $7.50.

Orange Shirt Day - We will be having Orange Shirt Day at our school on Thursday September 29th. Students and staff are asked to wear orange on that day to honour children of Residential Schools.

No School - There will be no school on Friday September 30th for National Truth and Reconciliation Day.

Hi Everyone!

Welcome back to a new school year!! We had a good first two weeks and are getting settled into our school and class routines. We are looking forward to a great year together!!

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Our library day will be on Tuesday. Students will be able to sign out a book each week to take home. Books must be returned before another book can be signed out.

Homework/Reading - The homework for the week is listed in the orange homework books. To start we are working on our sight word lists. Once students can read the words on both sides of the page quickly, sign the sheet and we will send home the next list. A bag of reading books will be sent home for the week. Students can choose one book to read each night to someone at home. Make sure you record the book on the log sheet. It is okay if they would like to read a book more than once. Please send the homework book back each day. The reading books can come back at the end of the week.

Blue Folders/Agendas -We will be sending home the blue folders and agendas each day. You will notice that the folders have 2 sides - Bring Back - for items that need to be signed and returned to school. Leave Home - Notices or Memos for you to read and keep. In the agendas we will write the things that are happening for the week and the students will write their homework down for each day. Please check both the agendas and blue folders each night and return them to school with your child each day.

No School - Schools are closed on Monday September 19th for a National Day Of Mourning in honour of Queen Elizabeth ll.

Fletcher's Farm - We will be going on a field trip to Fletcher's Farm on Wednesday September 21st. A permission slip was sent home in the blue folders. Please sign and return the slip. The cost for students is $3.00, the Student Council will pay the remaining cost.

Terry Fox Walk - Our school will be participating in the annual Terry Fox School Walk on Friday September 23rd. Students are asked to bring in a donation if they can.

Water Bottles - Students are welcome to bring a water bottle that they can use during the school day. Our fountains have taps, where they can refill their bottles when needed.

  • Our Phys. Ed days this week are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Library

  • Our library day is on Thursday. This is our last library day, so please make sure that all books are returned.

Homework/Reading

  • The homework for the week is listed in the orange homework books.
  • This week for our spelling words focus on contractions. Go over them each night. We will be working on them at school too. We will have our test on Friday.
  • The word work activity involves using the spelling words. Find the right contraction for each fish. Use 2 contractions in a sentence. Add good details and begin and end your sentences the right way.
  • We have been working on reading comprehension and this week there is a story to do. Read the story 2 times. Read the question, then underline the answer in the story. Circle the right answer. If you can’t remember the answer, go back, and read it again.
  • In Math we are adding 2-digit numbers. We have been working on different strategies and the students are using one that works best for them. Add the 2 – digit numbers and show your work. How you did it. We have also started working on subtracting 2-digit numbers. We start with the biggest number and take away the smaller number. Make sure you show your work.
  • Choose one book from the reading bag to read each night. Use your strategies to help with your reading and record the book on the log sheet.

Cafeteria Special

  • The June special meal is on June 9th.
  • The meal is Nachos with a cheese sauce, fruit cup, dessert, and milk.
  • This meal had to be pre-ordered.
  • If you did not order, you will have to bring your lunch.

Student Appreciation Day

  • We will be having this at our school on Wednesday June 8th.
  • There are lots of fun activities planned throughout the day.

Field Trip

  • Our class will be going on a field trip on Wednesday June 15th.
  • We will be going bowling and having Dairy Queen for lunch.
  • A Memo will go home regarding this, and you are asked to check off what the students would like for lunch.
  • The cost is $7.00, and the Student Council will be paying the other half.

  • We are working on reading comprehension and this week there is a story to do. Read the story 2 times. Read the question, then underline the answer in the story. Circle the right answer. If you can’t remember the answer, go back, and read it again.
  • In Math we are adding 2-digit numbers. We have been working on different strategies and the students are using one that works best for them. Add the 2 – digit numbers and show your work. How you did it. There is one activity on solving word problems. Use the strategy that works best for you and show your work.
  • Choose one book from the reading bag to read each night. Use your strategies to help with your reading and record the book on the log sheet.

Caterpillars In The Classroom

  • This week for our spelling words focus on word endings. When we add /ing/ to a word, we drop the /e/ and add /ing/ and sometimes we double the last letter and add /ing/. Go over them each night. We will be working on them at school too. We will have our test on Friday.
  • The word work activity involves using the spelling words. Circle the word missing from each sentence. Use the two words in the box in a sentence. Add good details and begin and end your sentences the right way.
  • We have been working on reading comprehension and this week there is a story to do. Read the story 2 times. Read the question, then underline the answer in the story. Circle the right answer. If you can’t remember the answer, go back, and read it again.
  • In Math we are starting to add 2-digit numbers. We have been working on different strategies and finding one that works best for us. We can use the base ten blocks; add the tens , add the ones, and get then add them together.
  • Choose one book from the reading bag to read each night. Use your strategies to help with your reading and record the book on the log sheet.

  • In Math we are starting to work on adding 2-digit numbers. We are starting with adding 10s. When we add tens the ones place doesn’t change. We are doing more work with counting by 10s, starting at different numbers. There is also one sheet on adding and subtracting 10 and counting by 2s.

  • In Math we are celebrating The 100th Day of School. Show the number 100 in 3 different ways. Count by 5s and 10s to 100.

100th Day Of School

  • The 100th Day of School will be on Tuesday April 19th.
  • A MEMO went home outlining the activities the K-2 classes will be doing.
  • We are trying to bring in 100 food items for the Food Bank, please send in a non-perishable food item if you can. We are doing this activity on Wednesday April 20th, so if you didn’t bring in an item yet, please try to bring one for Wednesday.
  • Students are asked to bring a collection of 100 things. There was a bag sent home to put the collection in. We will be displaying them for all K-2 classes to see on Wednesday. If you did not bring in your collection yet, please bring it on Wednesday.

I hope you had a fun weekend! This is a short week! There are only 3 school days this week.

Phys. Ed

  • Our Phys. Ed days this week are Tuesday and Wednesday.

Homework/Reading

  • The homework for the week is listed in the orange homework books.
  • As it is a short week, we will work on the #3 Sight word List instead of spelling words. Go over the words on the list. Can you read them quickly without hesitation? Underline the ones you don’t know and keep working on them.
  • We have been working on reading comprehension and this week there is a story to do. Read the story 2 times. Read the question, then underline the answer in the story. Circle the right answer. Remember if you can’t remember the answer, go back, and read it again.
  • In Math we are working on equal and unequal. Make number sentences that are equal to the number in the box. Make number sentences that are unequal to the number in the box. The 100th Day is coming up, so we have been counting to 100 in different ways. Count by 5s and 10s.
  • Choose one book from the reading bag to read each night. Use your strategies to help with the reading and record your book on the log sheet.

Reports

  • Reports went home on Monday April 11th.

Parent Teacher Interviews

  • Wednesday April 13th from 4:00 – 6:00PM
  • Thursday April 14th  from 8:30 – 11:30AM
  • There is a sheet in the envelope to fill out to request the day and time that works best for you. Please return it to school with your child and an appointment time will be set up for you.
  • You have the choice of a phone interview or to come to the school for your meeting.

  • Easter Special Meal – This will consist of ham and potatoes, veggies, milk, and dessert.
  • Tuesday April 12, 2022.

  • The homework for the week is listed in the orange homework books.
  • This week our spelling words focus on two-part words and /er/ endings. Go over them each night and practice spelling them. We will have our test on Friday.
  • The word work activity focuses on the spelling words. Read each sentence and circle the word missing. Pick 2 words that are underlined and write a sentence for each one. Make sure your sentences begin and end properly and have good details.
  • We have been working on reading comprehension and this week there is a story to do. Read the story 2 times. Read the questions, then underline the answers in the story. Circle the right answer. Remember if you can’t remember the answer, go back, and read it again.
  • In Math we have started working on equal and unequal. Making sets to show each, finding sets that are equal, finding number sentences that are equal to each other. There are also some quick facts to keep up with our math strategies.
  • Choose one book from the reading bag to read each night. Use your strategies to help with the reading and record your book on the log sheet.
