Read 1-2 books each night (Either on Je lis, Bouliki, or physical books in your yellow folder)
Math: Math task card: create the number words 1-5 at home using different materials, such as lego, sand, play dough.

Bonne année à tous!
I Hope you all had a wonderful and restful holiday break with your families! I can't wait to see all your kiddos tomorrow!

We will be getting back into our weekly routine tomorrow.
I will be sending home the sound of the week along with a New Year's book for them to read for the week. We will be introducing the pronoun "nous" meaning "we" and finishing our unit on their feelings and emotions. We will also be discussing "personal goals" for the new year!
There will be no new sight words this week as I will be doing a review.

Also, the province is asking that everyone in the schools "mask up" for the first 2 weeks of school (there is more information on our school FB page and in the letter sent home in December). This is not mandatory but when possible, strongly encouraged to help curb potential spread of any exposure to covid.

Also, winter seems to have found us, so students are reminded to dress appropriately for the weather.
Happy New Year!

Les mots: A sheet is being sent home with all the sight words students have learned so far. These can be used as you would like. Cut up and used as flash cards, kept intact and trace with your finger. These can be kept at home for review.

Maths: The new task card is in the math wallet. Students are to complete the task this week and work on Zorbit Math as well. There will be a holiday Math game sent home on Tuesday that students can play with a family member. :)

Christmas Dinner - Our Christmas Dinner is on Thursday December 10th. Please note that the ham dinner is the only meal being served that day. If students did not order the meal, they will have to bring their lunch.

Christmas Shirt Day - We will have a Christmas Shirt/Sweater Day on Thursday December 10th. Students and staff are asked to make a $2.00 donation, with all proceeds going to the Food Bank. Thank you for your support with this project.

* Just a reminder that the days are getting colder so students are reminded to dress for the weather. Also, a reminder to students to bring a water bottle as the fountains are only used as fill up stations.

Have a great week everyone!

We have started to work on Christmas vocabulary, talking about different Christmas traditions that we may do at home, and will be writing Christmas letters to Santa tomorrow. ( I will also be sending a copy of their letter in their home folders as a keepsake)
If any families celebrate other traditions at home that are not related to Christmas, but would appreciate them to be discussed in class as well, please don't hesitate to email me or contact me, as all traditions are important.
Merci,

This week, students are working on a project on their Family!
They will be constructing their "Houses" in the Maker Space and then adding their writing to it.
I am asking that parents please write the names of the family members who live in the same house as the child in theAgendas so that student's have the correct spelling. Thank you for your help with this!

Some students need to finish coloring it. I am asking that students leave it in their yellow folder as we are doing an activity with it tomorrow.

Just a few reminders:
  • The school will be providing fruit & veggie trays for all classes on the 29th for our Halloween celebrations. As per Covid regulations, we can not have treats sent in on that day.
  • October 29th is Orange and Black day. Students are encouraged to wear orange and Black!
  • No school for students on the 30th as it is a PD day for teachers (Happy Halloween!)
  • The Primary classes normally have a Costume Parade for students, but because we are not able to send in costumes this year due to Covid restrictions, I have decided to have VIRTUAL Costume Parade for my students!! This means, any student who would like to dress in their costume at home and take either a photo or video of them in their costume can send it to my email rebecca.hitchman@nbed.nb.ca
I will put it all together in a slide show so that each student can describe their costume at school to their classmates. Every year I use this as a great writing opportunity and students seem to really enjoy it! If your child would like to participate, please send me the picture of video of them in costume by this Sunday so that I can prepare the slide show.
Happy Halloween!!
