Good morning everyone! Happy 2022!
Home learning is starting today and we will be continuing on with our learning so I have structured it by week and by day.
I hope this helps with daily work.
Please follow our private facebook group for all daily videos and explanations.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Some students may finish quickly while others may need more time, so I have included extra work at the back of each packet that you can choose from if you wish.

Have a great first day of home learning!
Mme Hitchman

Hello parents!
Here is some home learning students can work on today:
  • Read for 10 minutes either a book from class or on boukili
  • Sound: Work on the New sound of the week on BOOM cards
  • Math: Work on one of the activities in the December home learning packet or on Zorbit Math
  • Get outside and play! Try to come up with a new Christmas game you can teach to the class outside, such as Reindeer Race or Santa skipping.
  • Practice our Christmas song at home!
* Just a reminder that with the directive from Public Health, all K-8 students are required to take a rapid Covid test daily until further notice, before attending school and must have two negative tests before returning tomorrow. One today and one tomorrow morning.
If families need rapid tests, they will be available between 1-3 at school to pick up. Please call the school to confirm before coming to make sure they are available.
I hope you all have a great day. Contact me if you have any questions. Thank you!

Happy Friday everyone!! I hope you all had a great week and had a restful day yesterday. Here are some activities for today students can work on.
Literacy:
Reading: Read for 10-15 minutes from a book in your homework bag or on Boukili. Code is 9ki94f. Once done, use the writing sheet in your learning packet to draw your favorite part of the book. Below, print the sentence from your favorite part.
Boom Cards: Log onto BOOM cards and finish the assignments for sound work and the alphabet.
**Family Cards: **In the new learning packets, you'll find 6 cards to cut down the middle and fold. Students are to draw one member of their family on each card or glue a picture. Follow the example below. Print their title below the picture. On the inside of the card, students can print their family member's names.
Elle s'appelle _______. (Her name is ________.)
Il s'appelle __________. (His name is ________. )
**Art: **Create one of the Remembrance Day Crafts in the new packet.
Math:
We usually do fun Friday for Math and rotate in centers. I would like you to spend 20 minutes on each activity and have fun!
  • Zorbit Math: Finish assignments in the bookbag.
  • Home packet: Finish one of the math sheets in your new packet and play the doubles snakes and ladders game.
  • Play the card game "Guerre". Split the deck in half. Each player takes half, counts down 3,2,1 and flips the top card. The first person to add both cards up first (in French) wins the pair. The person with the most pairs wins. You can also change it up and the person with the highest number wins the pair.
Phys.ed: Get outside and choose an activity of your choice!
*I will be uploading their first independent videos they created at school. I would love for each student to create their second one at home and either sing a French song, say the alphabet, introduce their stuffed animals or pets, or show something they created! Send the video to me and I will add it to their end of year projects.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Bon matin mes amis! I hope you all had a restful weekend. It's beginning to look a little frosty in the mornings.. brrr...
Here is some home learning activities your kiddos can do today. Many activities will be centered towards Remembrance Day this week. I will be putting new packets together at school for parents to pick up with printables for some of these activities. I will also attach them in "files" on our fb group incase you would rather print them at home.
I understand this can be a stressful time for families and I want you to know that I am here to support you however I can.
Video: Watch this Remembrance Day video and draw a picture of what Remembrance Day means to you on the paper attached or paper from home.
Reading: Read for 10-15 minutes, either a book in their homework bag or log in to Boukili and read 1-2 books.
Sound of the week: Listen to the sound of the week "OU". I will be posting the sound cards as well on our fb group. Song below. Action is to cup your hand around your mouth when you say OU.
Sight Words: mes, les, aujourd'hui, joue, maison - print these on paper and stick each word to a wall and use a flashlight to play spotlight and try to say the word the flashlight shines on. Works best with the lights off! :)

Gym: Do an hour of physical activity! Play tag, go on a nature walk or collect some colorful fall leaves to create a collage! :)
Math: 20 minutes for each task.
  • Complete one assignment on Zorbit Math in the bookbag.
  • Complete this week's task card: Using cereal pieces, Lego, toys, or shoes and try to make 10 at least 3 different ways. (Ex: 4+6)
  • Make your own color pattern on each row of poppies

Students can also continue drawing a picture of each of their family members including their pets on small pieces of paper. This will be used when we get back to class for our project on Family. I will be putting the cards in the new packets as well.
*I will let you know when you can pick up the packets at the school if you are able to.
A reminder that I've attached the Virtual home learning file to help you plan out your day with your child.
Have a wonderful Monday!

Happy Wednesday! Today is all about being active and mindfulness!
Literacy:
Reading: Read for 10-15 minutes outside (weather permitting) Try to recreate part of the book outside by drawing in the sand, or building something from the book with sticks and rocks.
Word Work: I have attached a book under "files" called "Qui est dans ma famille" on our group page. Students are to put the sentences in order by reading the sentence on the page next to it. If you do not have a printer, students can write the words down or build each sentence with magnetic letters. This reinforces beginning with a capital and ending with a period.
Math:
  • Follow instructions on attached photo for the "rock and roll" math activity outside! Have fun building and skip counting!
Gym: Try one of the brain breaks or yoga videos posted in the links:
I hope you all have a great mindful Wednesday!
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions. I am out today though for appointments and had a scheduled supply teacher, so if you do have any questions and I don't reply right away, you can also call Mme Kerr at 622-3569 and she will be happy to help.
merci!
