Tuesday:  

  • Gym
  • Report Cards sent home and interview forms to fill out. If you are unable to attend parent/teacher between those times, please let me know and we can schedule another day the following week. If you do not feel the need to meet at this time, you can check off the box on the form and send it back. Thank you!

Wednesday:

  • Gym

  • Show and Tell (One student will present, I will write in their agenda)

If you would like to order school clothing, the order forms are due back this Wednesday November 20th. You can check the school website for the coloured sheet, so you can see the logos and colours. An order form was sent home on Friday. Please check homework folders for this form.

Just a friendly reminder to log your child's reading on the log sheet provided in their homework folder. 

Students can also print the title of the book themselves.

Thursday:  National Jersey day: Students can wear their favorite sports jersey to school to show school spirit! Library (return books), Gym & music

Friday: Homework and reading books returned.  

Show and Tell (One student will present, I will write in their agenda)

 

Homework is in their homework folders. Students are reminded to read each night and work on their sight words. The baggie I sent home this week will be good for the remainder of the school year. Please ensure that students put all the letters back so they are able to create all of the sight words.

Wishing all my grade one students a very safe and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Just a reminder that there will be NO homework on Thursday night as there will be many heading out for some trick or treating!

Spirit Week - Our first Spirit Week of the year is this week from October 28 - November 1st.

The Raiders Golden Helmet is up for grabs to the class with the MOST participation and wins with challenges. Show your school spirit!

Thursday - Costume Parade Day - Bring your costume - No homework on this night. Happy Trick or treating!

Our class went to the book fair today to browse. Students were able to write down books on their wish list. 

Our class is scheduled to go back to the Book fair on Wednesday, so any student who would like to purchase a book then, please bring your money with you.

Also, please remember to fill out the ballot on your book fair form and bring it back to the class for a chance to win 25$ worth of books! 

 

Homework for the week:

  • Read the sound poem “ é ” and the sound words 1-2 times aloud.
  • Read: Students are to practice reading their books as much as possible. They will help their fluency, french vocabulary and confidence.

  • Sight Words: Students are to read each of the words aloud at home. They can create the word with the bag of letters sent home.
  • Printing book: Students are to do letter D this week. Trace and write the letter in between the lines. This will help when they are writing their stories.

  • Math: We are working on 2D & 3D shapes in Math. Students are working on sorting 2D and 3D shapes using different sorting rules discussed in class. Students are encouraged to look for 3D objects at home that resemble the 3D shapes.

Thursday: Music\Gym Library: We have library every Thursday. Students can keep their library book for the week and return it on Thursday.

Book Fair - Our Book Fair will be held this week from October 21st - October 24th. It is open from 9:00 until 3:00 on Monday - Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 until 12:00. Family Night is on Wednesday October 23rd from 5:00 - 8:00PM. There will be french and english books available to purchase.  

Halloween Dance -There is a dance for the K-2 students on Friday October 25th from 5:30 - 6:30PM in the cafeteria. Students can wear a costume if they would like. The cost is $5.00 and there is a canteen available.

Just a reminder that the class won their class prize by filling their marble jar so there will be No Homework tonight! :)

Just a reminder to students; any students who brought back their memo to get retakes or sibling pictures will be taken tomorrow (Tuesday). Any student who did not send back the memo will not be called down for retakes of sibling pictures.

Homework for the week:

  • Read the sound poem “O” and the sound words 1-2 times aloud.
  • We will begin a new book on Tuesday. Students are to read their book 1-2 times aloud. *Some students will begin to bring home leveled books. Encourage them to look at the picture, follow along with their finger and read aloud.

  • Sight Words: Students will begin bringing home Sight words to practice. Every Friday there will be a quiz. Students are to read each of the words aloud at home. I will also be sending a bag of letters home with students to practice making the words.
  • Printing book: Students are to do letter B this week. Trace and write the letter in between the lines. This will help when they are writing their stories. *Some students have finished B, so they won’t have that for homework.

  • Math: We have been working on repeating patterns and counting forwards and backwards 1 to 20. Students are to practice singing the songs on the teacher page, or practice saying the numbers forwards and backwards. They also created a number rocket ship so they can use that to help with their counting.

  • Read the sound poem “e” and the sound words 1-2 times aloud. (the Action is that they put their hand on their chest when they say the sound “e”)
  • We will begin a new book on Tuesday. Students are to read their book 1-2 times aloud. *Some students will begin to bring home leveled books. Encourage them to look at the picture and follow along with their finger.

  • Students will start their printing book this week. Students are to do one letter each week. Trace and write the letter in between the lines. This will help when they are writing their stories. *Some students have finished A, so they won’t have that for homework.
