The count down is on and the big day is fast approaching. The children get more excited as each day passes. We have a very busy week a head of us, starting with School Spirit Week. We have a special dress up day for every day this week:

Monday- Red & Green Day

Tuesday - Christmas Shirt\Sweaater

Wednesday- Concert Day- Dress Up Day

Thursday- Christmas Hat\Socks Day

Friday- PJ's\School Clothing Day

Literacy- Read your Borrow-A-Books each night. You will have 3 books this week. One will be a student coloured book. Be sure to read 1 or 2 books each night. Please continue to read the ABC Letter Tracing Book, especially if your child still does recognize every letter\sound. With your finger, trace each letter by following the arrows. Say each letter name as you trace both the upper\lower letter.Say the letter sound and animal name.ex.Aa alligator.When your child recognizes all the letters, then focus on the letter sounds. As students read the three books, have them point to each word and stop at the period.Use the pictures for cues to help identify the words. Students should be recognizing some familiar sight words like: I,am, see, a, the, to, at, go,like,me. Please remember to fill in the reading log each night and have your child print their name.Please return all books, even the paper books your child has coloured, in the borrow-a-book bag,on Thursday.

Rock Star Words- Please review your word list throughout the week. When your child knows all words quickly. Please sign the sheet and return it to class. I will be sending out the next list after Christmas.

Phys. Ed. Classes this week are on Tuesday,Thursday and Friday.

Food Bank Challenge- We are continuing to collect food bank items until Thuradsy Dec. 23.All donations are greatley appreciated.

Christmas Concert- We are happy to beable to perform our concert in front of an audience again, on Wednesday December 21st, at 9:00am. The children and Mrs.O'Neill Delano have been very busy preparing for this special performance.We hope to see you there.

Skating-We will be skating at the Civic Center on Thursday December 22 at 9:00am. We will be leaving the school at 8:40am. Please fill out the form ragrding skates\helmets for your child and return to school for Monday. We do have a few pair of skates at school, so I may be able to find a pair for your child to borrow. Parents are welcome to join their child  skating, but must wear skates on the ice. No boots allowed, as per City of Miramichi rules.

Water bottles- Remember to pack your water bottle each day.

Early Dismissal-Friday, December 23 is a half day of school. Studnets will be dismissed around 11:00 am. As this is an early dismissal, your child may be travelling on a different bus, than their regular 2:00 o'clock bus.

I would like to wish all my Kinders and their families a very Merry Christmas, filled with lots of joy, laughter, and fun celebrations and all the best for the New Year.

I am excited to see all my Little Kinders. We will be busy with lots of Chritmas activities, games, songs\poems and crafts to get us in the Christmas Spirit. Christmas Dinner-The Christmas meal will be served on Tuesday, December 6th. This will be the only meal served that day.

Response Form & Parent\Teacher Interview Slip- Please sign the response form and Parent\Teacher Interview Slip and return both in the report card envelope on Monday, December 5th. I will schedule times for Parent\Teacher Interviews  which can be in person or by phone. Please indicate your prefenceand time.Thanks!

Parent\Teacher Interviews will be held on Thursday Dec,8th from 4-6 pm and Friday Dec.9th from 9-11:30am.

Christmas Shop- Home and School are collection donations for our Christmas shop this week Dec. 5th-9th. Wow, can you believe it, we are at the end of November and moving into December! We have a four day week, as Friday, December 2nd is a Professional Learning day for Teachers, so there is NO SCHOOL for Students.

Pre-Order & Pre-Pay for Christmas Dinner-If your child would like to have the Christmas meal of ham,potatoes,veggies, milk and dessert, please fill out the form on the December newsletter and send it in with $7.50 by deadline, Thursday, December 1st. This will be the only meal served that day.

Report Cards go home on Thursday, December 1st. Please read report and keep your copy. Please sign the response form and Parent\Teacher Interview Slip and return both in the report card envelope.Please return the forms on Monday, December 5th so I will be able to schedule Parent\Teacher Interviews and send home by Wednesday. Food Bank Challenge- To get us in the Christmas Spirit, we are having a school wide food bank challenge. Starting Dec.1st-22nd classes have been asked to collect each of the food items on the list. I will be asking students to bring in 2 items from the list. All items are due by December, 22nd but you can send your items in at any time. I appreciate your support. We can do this Kinders! Helping others at Christmas, what a beautiful gift! 

Christmas Shop- Please send in any gently used or new items that you no longer want and studnets will be able to go Christmas shopping for their family members on December, 12th &13th. Send in donations the week of Dec.5th-9th. We also are in need of gift bags, wrapping papers, gift tags. Volunteers are needed to help with gift wrapping for the children. Hi there! I hope you had a fun weekend and were able to get out and play in the snow. I know the children were very excited to see the snow on Wednesday. With the snow and cooler days now here,  please dress for the winter weather. We will be going outside for recess. Wear your winter coat,snowpants(if you want to play in the snow) boots,hats, mittens\gloves. Please pack an extra pair of socks in your book bag.

Math- We have been working on counting on from a number both forwards\backwards. For ex. have your child start at 3 and count to 7, or start at 8 count to 2. See if they can do this quickly or do they have to recount. Also, practice quickly saying the number that comes before\after a given number. Play a board game(Sorry, Trouble, etc) or dice game with your child this week.When rolling the dice ,does your child say the number quickly or do they have to count each dot on the die.The goal is for them to recognize at a glance the dots on the dice(subitize), without counting. Have fun!!

School Remembrance Day Ceremony- Our ceremony will take place on Thursday November 10th at 10:00am.Due to limited seating in the gym, it was asked that only one person per household attend. Thank you for your understanding.

Remembrance Day- There will be No School on November 11th,in honour of Remembrance Day.Please take time to remember those brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice so we may live in freedom in our beautiful country,and also think of those courageous Veterans who returned home. We shall remember, we shall never forget. For our tomorrow they gave their today!

Poppy Donation-All this week we will be collecting poppy donations for our Veterans.

Hi everyone, Happy Halloween and Happy November! It was a lovely weekend but, as we turn the calendar to a new month the mornings are chillier at school so please be sure to wear a warmer jacket, gloves \mittens and a hat.  Here's what we is happening this week in Kindergarten,

Happy Halloween- On Monday, October 31st, we will have our class Halloween party. The school will be providing a healthy snack of fruit and veggies for the class. It is not necessary to send in treats, but, if you do a treat bag please remember that we are a peanut\nut free school. Thanks!! Have a super fun evening as you go door to door for treats.

Friday,October 28th, in the afternoon, we will be having our school costume parade. For the children in our Kindergarten class,please do not wear your costumes to school, as we will be going to Fletchers Farm in the morning. We will dress up for the parade after we come inside from our outdoor lunch recess. Please send the costume in a bag, inside your childs book bag. Thanks!

It looks like the weather is going to cooperate and we will be heading to the farm on Friday, October 28th. We will be walking from school, leaving around 8:30. We will be at the farm from 9:00-11:00,and walking back to school in time for lunch.We are soooo excited and have been looking forward to this day. Please dress for the weather.

Fletcher's Farm Field Trip- Fingers crossed the weather for Friday, October 28th will be sunny, for our trip to the farm. Dress for the weather.

Pumpkin Carving\Decorating Contest- Students are invited to carve\decorate a pumpkin at home at bring it to school by Tuesday October 25th for the contest. Students will vote on their pumpkin(carved\decorated) one for each level K-2, 3-5, 6-8. There will be prizes for the winners.

Our first Heart Healthy Challenge will be held at school from Tuesday Oct.24-Friday Oct. 28th.Students will be given a point for their class each time they choose a healthy snack of fruits or vegetables. "I paint.", and stop at the period.Use the pictures for cues to help identify the words. ex. the picture could be an alligator or crocodile, look at the word, it starts with a, say the beginning letter sound and the word alligator. Please remember to fill in the reading log each night and have your child print their name.Return your borrow-a-book bag back to class on Friday.   

Library- Our library is currently under renovations, so we are unable to visit this week. I will allow the children to choose a book from our classroom library. Keep the book for the week and return it the following Thursday. Happy reading!

Fire Pervention Safety Gazette- In this paper, there is an entry form your child can pass in for a chance to become Miramich Fire Chief for the Day. Please return this to class by the end of the week.

Fletcher's Farm Field Trip- We have been looking forward to our trip and are scheduled to go to the farm on Wednesday. Oct.19th. Please dress for the weather. 

Walk for Wenjack-In the spirit of reconciliation, and in support and acknowledgement of Indigenous children who attended residential schools and never returned home, Nelson Rural staff and students will be walking for Wenjack, this week at school. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you had a wonderful celebration with family and friends. This is what is happening in Kindergarten this week:

Literacy- Read your Borrow-A-Books each night.This week read the ABC Letter Tracing Book and the Letter Aa book. With your finger, trace each letter by following the arrows. Say each letter name, letter sound and animal name.ex.Aa alligator.This will be great practice for proper letter formation and also for reviewing our Zoo-phonics language program. Students read the Letter Aa book. Have students point to each word ,ex. "Look at the alligator.", and stop at the period.Use the picture for cues to help identify the word. ex. the picture could be an alligator or crocodile, look at the word and say the beginning letter sound, for alligator. Please fill in the reading log each night and have your child print their name. Return your borrow-a-book bag back to class on Friday.   

Library- We go to the library on Thursday.Please return your book to school in the library bag so you will be able to sign out a new book. Thanks and happy reading.

Fire Pervention Safety Week. This is Fire Prevention Safety Week,students will be taking home a booklet on fire safety, please read and practice 2 ways to get out of your home safely, identify your family meeting place and check your smoke detectors to ensure the battery is working. We have been practicing fire drills at school and this week the Fire Fighters will be at school to do a presentation.

Remember to pack your water bottle.

Hi there everyone, I hope you had a fun weekend. Here's what is happening this week in Kindergarten!

Literacy- This week we are starting our Borrow-A-Book program. Students will be bringing home their ABC Letter Book. Students are to trace each letter by following the arrows with their finger. Say each letter name, letter sound and animal name.ex.Aa alligator.This will be great practice for proper letter formation and also for reviewing our Zoo-phonics language program. Please fill in the reading log each night and have students print their name.Return your borrow-a-book bag back to class on Friday.   

Math- We are continuing with creating and extending AB patterns  for ex. circle, square, circle, square, circle.Search for patterns around your home, how many differnt patterns can you find?Make patterns with your toys or socks. Be creative and have fun.Count how many objects you used to make your pattern.

Library- We go to the library on Thursday.Please return your book to school in the library bag so you will be able to sign out a new book. Thanks and happy reading.

Phys. Ed. Classes are every Tuesday,Thursday and Friday.Be sure to wear comfy clothes.

Thanksgiving Meal-The cafeteria will be having a Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday Oct.6th.This will be the only meal served.

Remember to pack your water bottle.

No School, Monday,October 10th for Thanksgiving Day. Enjoy your long weekend with family and friends.
