Mrs. Sullivan-Goguen Notes

Welcome Kinders

Notes

Posted: December 22, 2021

Please read the note from Mrs. O'Neill Delano regarding our Christmas concert, "We did not get our Christmas recording done this year for one of two reasons:  many students were missing on the day we were set to record- or we missed our music class on the day we were set to record-then the early Christmas Break dismissal happened.  I will do a special project with classes who missed a Christmas performance following our Christmas Break and record a video for parents. Here's to hoping we can join together for a live show next year."

Hi there!! It it a frosty Friday morning but,the sun is shining bright. It looks like it is going to be a nice day for when you go outside later to explore, play and have fun.I hope you were able to take some time yesterday, Remembrance Day,in your own special way, to honour and remember those who sacrificed so much for our freedom.

Literacy-Today,please pick 2 of your favourite borrow-a-books and read them to someone. Point to each word, get your mouth ready to make beginning letters sounds and try to solve any unknown words. Look for any of these sight words from our first list (see documents). The words are: am,at,can,go,to,the,is,me,see, like. Now close your book and see if you can print the words you saw in your books. How many of your sight words were on the list?

Squiggle Park-play for 10-15 minutes.Have fun!!

Writing-Can you make a sentence using these sight words: to,like,go. Use a piece of paper from home.Draw a detailed picture, and remember to start your sentence with a capital letter, use spaces between your words and a period to end your sentence.

Math-Fun Friday-Choose a favourite math activity to do:play a math game from your learning kit,or a favourite board game,Boom Cards or Show me 5! The goal is to be counting and having fun.                         **Count forward and backwards 1-10 and 10-1.Roll a dice say your number you rolled, then quickly say the number that comes before and after your number.Roll again and again!! Can you say the numbers quickly each time? **Be sure to do your Count to 100 exercises today!

Explore-Now it's time to go outside to explore and play!If you haven't already, see how many footsteps long your driveway is. I walked my driveway and it is 154 regular footsteps and 44 giant steps. It was much faster taking the giant steps! Try the Roll and Do exercise game outside in the fresh air!

Have a fantastic Friday,Kinders and enjoy your weekend!Take care,be safe, have FUN! Smiles and Hugs!Miss you!

Please reach out by email joan.sullivan-goguen@nbed.nb.ca if you need anything.Send pictures, I miss your smiles! I appreciate all you do!

Hello Kinders, a wonderful Wednesday greeting to all of you.

As we continue to learn from home,be sure to give a big hug and say thank you to your family members who have been helping you with your learning. They and you are doing a terrific job and I appreciate all the great work you have done!

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day! Please wear a poppy and take time to remember all those brave men and women who sacrificed so much so that we can live in peace. Draw a picture to say thank you to our Soldiers and Veterans. I have added a writing sheet in documents or please use paper you have at home.

Listen to the story "The Peace Book" by Todd Parr  https://youtu.be/xohl5m-EyYA?t=1 This is a very special book, I think you will like it. Talk about how you can share peace at home, school and in your community. Draw a picture of what peace means to you. I have added a writing sheet in documents, or you can use a piece of paper you have home.

Get up and Move- Play the game "Roll and Do"- in your home learning kit. It is on a blue piece of paper and the instrcutions are on the back. Roll the dice, move your marker and do the exercise. Play one of your favourite songs as you "Roll and Do", have fun!!

Be sure to go outside to explore, walk, run and play.

Enjoy your day, Kinders! Please send me a picture of any activities you do today and I will post it on our class page.Take care, smile and have fun! Hugs, Mrs. Sullivan-Goguen

Hi everyone, HAPPY TUESDAY! What a lovely day, frosty this morning but the sun is shinning and it looks like a great day to go exploring. While you are outside, can you count how many footsteps long your driveway is? Start at one end of the driveway and count each step, one foot in front of the other(heel to toe) all the way to the end. How many footsteps did you count? On your way back try giant steps, stretch a big step, try not to fall down. Before you start make a guess of how many giant steps it will take you. Do you think it will be more or less than your regular step? Count your giant steps as you walk back to where you began. How many steps did you count? Was it more or less than your regular steps? Were you close with your guess? Send me pictures, please!!

Here is a rhyming game for you to try, here is the link. https://www.turtlediary.com/game/words-that-rhyme.html  If you havent already done so, complete the turkey rhyming sheet in your Home Learning Kit, cut and glue the pictures into the box beside the rhyming partner.

Don't forget your Count to 100 exercises, check out the Jack Hartman collection. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVcQH8A634mauPrGbWs7QlQ

Please take some time this week to discuss Remembrance Day and it's importance with your children. I have found a short Kids News Break video, that talks about some of the history of Remembrance Day and why we should wear a poppy. I found two Canadian books, perfect for Remembrance Day, honouring those who fought for our Freedom.
