Good Morning, Kinders and Families,

I hope you had a fun Halloween evening, despite the rain. I would love to see you dressed up in your costumes, so please send me a picture and I will add it to our class page.

Today as you learn from home, know that I miss you and can't wait to see all of your smiling faces back in our Kindergarten classroom.

Here are some ideas for home learning today. Literacy- Read your Borrow-A-Books-read the My ABC letter tracing book, focus on recognizing, forming and identifying letter\ sounds.Review daily any letters your child may not recognize.Read books I see Halloween and Halloween Counting. Students point to each word as they read, look at the pictures, as well as the beginning letter sound to help figure out an unknown word. Can you find these words "I, see" on each page?Hug the word with your fingers, print the word on a piece of paper or white board. 

Writing- Using one of the writing sheets in your home learning kit or a sheet of paper, draw a detailed picture of you on Halloween. Be sure to draw others who went with you. What did you wear? Did you carry anything in your hand? What or who did you see?Can you add names or add begining letters for names? Print a sentence I am a.......  Sound out the word for your costume, can you hear beginning, middle and ending sounds in the word? for example, if you sound out ghost you may only hear "gos" or "gost".Do your best, I don't expect the unknown words to be spelt correctly, as the children are only recording what letter sounds they hear. You may send me a picture of your writing to my email if you wish and please send back all writing\work to class when you return.

Squiggle Park- spend 10 minutes playing. Remember this is meant to be an independent learning activity. If your child is asking for a lot of help or is unsure of answers, then go back to previous level and play that again. We  want the children to feel confident and not frustrated with their learning.Login information and codes are taped to the inside of students agendas. Play the Monster Math Dice Game- I posted two different monster pages so play one of these games. See if you can recognize how many dots are on the dice you rolled without counting each dot(subitize).Colour the matching numeral for the amount you rolled. Colour only one number each roll. If you already coloured the numbers rolled, you miss your turn.

Explore- go outside play and explore. Can you find a colourful or different shaped rock? Can you make a leaf pile? What types of leaves are in your pile? What colour are the leaves?
