Mrs. Poole Notes

Welcome to Mrs. Poole's Kindergarten Classroom Page

Hi there! Today in your child's agenda you will see a letter pertaining to Dream Box. It tells you all the important information needed to access Dream Box at home. If you are using a browser, use this link: and the Classroom Code: 51780. The children have been assigned a picture password and have already used it in the classroom. You will find this password taped inside your child's agenda cover. You need both of these to login in.

If you are using an iPad, you can visit the app store and download: "DreamBox Learning Math" or you can go to When prompted in the app use the school code: knjs/8s78 and the classroom code: 51780 where your child can use their picture password. (This is taped inside your child's agenda)

We have all logged in and played on Dream Box. The children should be familiar with the site. They can play on it as often as they like. If your child needs help, just prompt or explain it to them please resist the urge to tell them the answer. If it is too difficult, just leave that game/skill for another time and move on to something they can do.

If there is anything I can help you with, please let me know. 627-4074

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. We were blessed with lovely weather so I hope you all enjoyed some time outside ans some special time with your loved ones.

We will be learning some new poems about pumpkins this week so I hope you hear some singing at home. We will be working on rhyme and identifying words that rhyme. Please practice this at home, or while driving in your car, during bathtime, at's always fun to rhyme. :) In math we are exploring patterns. We are doing great at copying patterns so we will work on extending patterns and creating patterns of our own. Ask your child what they know about patterns.

Tomorrow I will be sending home a memo regarding home learning kits. The kits will be sent home on Thursday so you will have them prior to a school closure. We truly hope this will not be the case but it is important to be prepared. Please store your child's kit in a safe place, ready to use should we move to home learning.

We have a bag of apples waiting to be turned into apple sauce and will be making this yummy treat together. Some of my liitle ones say they don't like apple sauce but sometimes when you make it yourself it tastes better :) We'll see. ;)

This is going to be a very busy week for us. Please read below to see all the exciting things we will be doing together.

*We are learning about Fire Safety and will be taking part in a virtual Fire Prevention session on Thursday morning. Today we read a story that taught us many fire safety rules. We worked on how to "Stop, Drop, and Roll" and talked about the importance of smoke detectors. Please talk with your child about how to be safe at home.

*On Wednesday, Oct. 7 we are going to the Apple Orchard. Please pack a lunch for your child on Wednesday as we will be eating at the farm. Also, we will not have access to a microwave therefore do not send items to be heated. Please dress your child for the weather. Rubber boots are an excellent idea as they keep toes dry.

*This week is Disability Awareness week as well. We will be taking part in the "Walk and Roll" challenge to show our support for persons with disabilities.

*We are also getting ready for Thanksgiving and learning some poems that they will hopefully share with you over the weekend.

*Thanksgiving Dinner will be served on Thursday, Oct. 8. This will be the only meal served on that day. If your child is not getting the meal, they need to bring a lunch.

*There is no school on Monday, October 12. Have a beautiful Thanksgiving weekend.

As we enter our final week of home learning I hope you all know how much I have enjoyed every moment of this learning journey with you. The past few months have been different, difficult, and most definitely not what we wanted but somehow we've maintained connections and our genuine care and concern for one another has continued to grow. You have been a great group (families and kiddos) and I thank you for hanging in there and for all of your support along the way. As always, please feel free to reach out to me at Here is the link for the math activity this week:

Take Care,

Hugs, Mrs. Poole

You can try some of these learning options. Ways to make 10, the weekly STEAM activities and the Camp Mathematician. Have fun!

Franklin has the same assignment as you did this week. He had to think about which part of his neighborhood/community was his favourite. Where did you choose? I love the movie theater and miss going there but even more than that I miss the school and seeing all of you!

Click this link to watch Mrs. Sullivan-Goguen read this adorable book. :)

See if you can solve my secret message. I have attached the ZOO-Phonics chart for you to use if you need it. Good luck :)

It sounds like things are going well from our weekly chats. I encourage you to continue to read, write, practice your math skills and try some Nature Ninja and STEAM activities throughout the week. I have added some great websites for you to explore on our home learning document. As always, I love hearing from you. You can email me at: Take care and have a great week! Hugs, I miss you.
