Homework- Read each night  -Complete prinitng pages in Homework book. Do one printing page each night.    -Review Zoophonics this week       Phys. Ed Class- We have gym class every Monday to Thursday, wear comfy clothing and sneakers.             Library- We have library every Wednesday. Please remember to return your book each week so that you will beable to get a new book.              Christmas Dinner- Our Annual School Christmas Dinner will be held on Wed. Dec 10th. The menu is Roasted Turkey with Savory Stuffing,Creamy Mashed Potatoes Vegetables, Apple Crisp, Milk. The cost of the meal for K-2 students is $4.50. **All meals must be pre-ordered by Friday, Nov.28 2014    Skating- Our class will be going skating on Dec. 8th. Students need to wear skates and a CSA approved helmet when on the ice. We encourage parents or family members to attend skating with their child, especially if it is their first time on skates. We have a few pairs of skates (mostly boy skates but, girls can wear them)  sizes 9-1 at school for students to borrow.Should your child need skates, please come in and see if we have a size to fit them.

Please keep the report and information inside the envelope at home. Sign and return the envelope to class.         Phys. Ed. - We have gym classes every Monday-Thursday. Please wear your sneakers and comfy clothing.         Library- We have library every Wednesday. Please return your book so you can borrow a new one.             Parent\Teacher Interviews will be held Thursday Nov. 20th 4:00-6:30 pm and Friday Nov. 21st, 9:00- 11:30 am. There will be No School for students on Friday Nov, 21st.      Home and School Cookie Dough Orders are due Thursday Nov.20th.      School Clothing- On Thursday Nov.20th and Friday Nov.21st during Parent/Teacher Interview times, Edgewater Embroidery will be at the school to take orders for school clothing. Please note that your orders must be paid for at this time.

Our School Remembrance Day Service will be on Monday November 10th at 10:00am in the school gym. Everyone is welcome to attend as we honour our Veterans. Please send in a donation for the poppy campaign.         Book Orders are due Monday Nov. 10th             Read each night Review Zoophonics letters\sounds and actions Homework Book- Complete student name printing pages. Please use a pencil.This is due by Friday.              There will be no school on Tuesday November 11th, Remembrance Day. Dress for the weather- Now that the colder weather is here, please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately as we will be going outside to play.       Read each night. Review Zoophonics actions, letters and sounds. Printing page- Practice tracing your name. Please use a pencil. We are working on proper formation of letters.     Phys. Ed.-  We have gym classes every Monday to Thursday. Please wear your sneakers and comfortable clothing.             Library- We go to the library every Wenesday. Students must return their book in order to sign out a new book.       School Remembrance Day Service- On Monday November 10th, we will be having our Remembrance Day program at 10:00am in the school gym. Everyone is welcome to attend.         Schools are closed on Tuesday November 11th in honour of Remembrance Day.Please remember to wear a poppy and take time with you child to remember all of the very brave men and women who sarificed so much so that we may enjoy our freedom in our wonderful country of Canada.

Homework - Read each night             - Review Zoophonics letters actions and sounds this week             - Read a rhyming book this week       Phys. Ed.- We have gym class every Monday-Thursday. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing for exercising, playing and having fun.     Cafeteria- Pre-orders for the Halloween Lunch Special are due on Tuesday Oct. 28th. The lunch speacial will be served on Halloween, Friday Oct. 31st. This will be the only meal served on that day.     Library- Every Wednesday we have library. Please remember to return your library book so that you will be able to borrow a new book.        Pumpkin Carving Contest- The Home & School is having their annual pumpkin carving contest on Wednesday Oct. 29th. Students carve a pumpkin and bring it to school with them. All pumpkins will be put on display at the front of the school. Parents are invited to come in and have a look at the creative carving ideas our students come up with. All pumpkins must be taken home by Oct.31st.       K-2 Halloween Movie Night- The Home & School will be having a Halloween Movie Night at the school for the K-2 students on Wednesday Oct. 29th at 6:00pm. Come out and enjoy the fun!       We will be celebrating Halloween in our classroom on Friday Oct. 31st. It is not necessary for parnts to send in anything as I will be having a little treat for the children. Should you wish to send in a treat please remember that all treats must be peanut and nut free. Students are ask to dress in orange and black. No costumes please.   Have a very Happy Halloween girls and boys! Stay safe and have fun as you go out trick or treating.

Please dress in comfortable clothes so that you can run, play and have fun.   Citizen Day- This  Friday October 17th please wear red and white to show your pride for our wonderful country.

 Happy Fall- I hope that everyone has been enjoying the lovely Fall weather we have been having. The trees look so beautiful this time of year. With the cooler weather in the morning it is important for the children to wear the proper outdoor clothing such as hats, mittens and warmer coats.    Homework- Read your Borrow-A-Book each night           - Review the Zoophonics actions and beginning letter sound        Phys. Ed.- We have Gym class every Monday to Thursday. Please wear comfortable clothing and sneakers so you can run, exercise and have fun.     This is Fire Safety Week. Members of our city Fire Department will be at school on Monday Oct. 6th to talk to the children about the importance of following the safety rules in case of a fire. We have practiced fire drills here at school and learned about the fire safety rules. Please read the material being sent home today with your child. Practice a fire drill at home with your children, check your smoke detectors and designate a meeting place in case of a fire.   Library- We have library every Wednesday. Students need to return the book they borrowed if they wish to get a new book.   There will be No School for Students on Thursday Oct. 9th and Friday Oct.10th due to PD Meetings for Teachers.   Happy Thanksgiving- I hope everyone will enjoy their Thanksgiving Day Celebrations on Manday October 13th with family and friends. Have a fun long weekend and I will see you in class on Tuesday.    Spirit Week-  This week at school Oct. 6-8th is School Spirit Week. On Monday students are asked to wear our school colours burgandy\maroon & gold. We are collecting donations to the food bank all week.

Borrow-A-Book- On Monday Sept. 29 th our borrow a book program will begin. Each night students will bring a home a book, which they are to read to someone. A memo describing the program and the important steps parent's can take to help their child read thier book  will be sent home and should be read before your child begins to read their book. Please fill out the reading log each night and return the book in it's bag to school so your child will recieve a new book each night.    Phys. Ed.Class   - Every Monday - Thursday  we have gym class. Please wear comfortable clothing and sneakers.       Library - Every Wednesday we will visit the library. Students will choose a book which they would like to have read to them. The book can be kept home for the week and must be returned by the following Wednesday.  Picture Retakes will be Friday Oct. 3rd.     Happy Fall Everyone !

Phys.Ed. Classes- We have phys.ed class every Monday-Thursday. Please wear comfortable clothing and sneakers.     Library- We have library every Wednesday. Please return your library book each week so that you will beable to sign out a new book.     Tery Fox Walk- Our annual school Terry Fox Walk will be held on Wednesday September 24th at 1:00pm. Parent's are welcome to come and join their child for the walk. Please bring a donation of $2 (or more if you wish) to help support the Marathon of Hope. Terry said, "Even if I don't finish, we need others to continue. It's got to keep going without me". We will be walking to keep Terry's dream alive.   Apple Orchard- On Thursday September 25th at 9:00am we will be going to McAllister's Apple Orchard.  Please wear rain\winter boots as the grass will be very wet. Please bring a lunch, drink and snack as we will be eating at the farm and there is no microwave available to heat food.

  Phys. Ed Class- We have gym class every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Please wear comfortable clothing and sneakers.       Our Meet the Teacher\Cornboil is September 17th at 5:00pm at the school. Hope to see you there,       Library- We will go to the school library on Wednesday's. Your child will bring home a book that they would like for you to read to them. They can keep the book at home until the following Wednesday and then bring it back and borrow a new book for the week.         School Picture Orders are due Sept. 18th. If you wish to have retakes please write this on the picture envelope and return to school by the 18th.

    Welcome to our class Annabella, Alissa, Cameron, Clare, Eria, Hannah, Isabel, Ivy, Katelyn, Kierstyn, Lana, Ledger and Rowyn. I am so glad to be your teacher. I know that we are going to have a lot of fun this year. So smile and welcome again to Nelson Rural Kindergarten. Grandparent's Tea- The K-2 are very excited to invite their Grandparent's Tea on Friday Sept. 11th at 9:00am in the school gym. The children will sing songs and tell poems about Grandparent's. Where would we be without our loving Grandparent's? Please come out to see your grandchild perform. Enjoy a tea or coffee and sweet, then go and visit your grandchild in their classroom.   Popsicles are being sold at all three lunch hours for a $1.00

K-2 Sport's Day- On Tuesday June 17th the K-2 student's will be participating in our school Sport's Day. All students must wear sneakers. You can bring a water bottle, hat and should apply sun screen before leaving the house. We are ordering pizza for lunch,so if you do not like pizza please bring a lunch, as the cafeteria will be closed.       Beaubear's Island End of the Year Trip- On Wednesday, June 18th the Kindergarten students will be going on a boat ride to Beaubear's Island. You must wear sneakers on the trip. Students should wear a hat and sun screen. We will be eating on the Island so you must bring a lunch with a drink and some snacks.     Last day of School for students is Friday June 20th. This will be a half day with early dismissal at 11:00 am. I hope that you all enjoyed your first year at Nelson Rural School.  Best of luck in Grade One. Have a wonderful summer vacation. Thank you to all parents for your support and cooperation throught the year.I had a fantastic year with your wonderful children. I am very proud of each of them. It is amazing to have watched them grow throughout the year and see haow much they have learned.                                      SMILE EVERYONE SMILE!!!!!!
          Practice reading your book to someone a couple of times each night. This will help you to build your fluency as you become more familiar with the text you are reading.         Phys. Ed Class- We have Phys. Ed classes every Monday, Thursday and Friday. Please be sure to wear comfortable clothing and your sneakers on these days.       Timeline- Timelines went home on Monday and are dure on Friday June 13. Please talk to your child about what they were like as a baby and how they have grown. The students will present their Timeline to the class as they bring it in.         K-2 Concert- The K-2 students will put on a Spring Concert this Friday June 13th at 12:15 in the school gym.This is under the direction of Mrs. O'Neill Delano. Hope to see you there!         Happy Father's Day to all of our Dad's. Have a wonderful day on Sunday June 15th celebrating your special day.          Just a Reminder to please return the permission slip and $3.00 for our field trip to Beaubear"s Island and Sport's Day Pizza order form with money, $1.00 per slice of pizza to school with your child as soon as possible. Welcome June- It is hard to believe that we are in the final month of our school year. Where did the time go? I am looking forward to a lot more fun during our last days in Kindergarten and I hope that you are too!       Homework- Please read your book a couple of times each night to build your fluency.         Phys. Ed. Class- With the nicer weather the children have been enjoying some of their gym classes outside. We have gym every Monday, Thursday and Friday. It is important that on these days that the children wear their outdoor sneakers as they will  be playing running games and/or doing their  walk for the Go For 42 Mango Challenge.Thanks!     Caterpillars and Butterflies- We have been enjoying our visits to Miss Sullivan's class to see their caterpillars.It has been interesting to watch the caterpillars transformation to a butterfly. Today we saw 3 new butterflies and 2 caterpillars that have gone into their chrysalis.Very Cool!        Library- This Wednesday will be our final visit to the library. Please remember to  return your book as all library books must be returned to the library by June 6th. Thanks!       Show and Tell- We have finished our Show and Tell activity for the year. This has been a very fun and valuable oral language activity for the children. The more prepared the student was the more confident they were talking about their item. Thank you for your coopeaartion at home with this activity.     Jump Rope For Heart School Event will be on June 5th. Please pass in your pledge sheets and money if you have not already done so. Thanks!
Show and Tell - On Tuesday, students from tables 1 and 2 will do Show and Tell and student from tables 3 and 4 will do their Show and Tell on Wednesday.         Library-We go to the Library every Wednesday. Students are reminded to bring their book if they wish to sign out a new book.         Jump Rope For Heart- Permission slips for Jump Rope for Heart were sent home with students on Friday. If you wish for your child to participate in this event, please sign the pemission slip and return to class. The pledge sheet/ envelope will then be sent home with your child.        The Musical -On Thursday May 22nd, the K-2 students will be going to the musical "Shrek" at JMH. If you have not already done so, please send in the $2 with your child.     T-Shirt Orders- Order forms for Kindergarten T-shirts will be sent home on Tuesday May 20th. Should you wish to purchase a shirt for your child, please complete the form amd return it and the money to class by Friday May 23rd.   Phys. Ed. - We have gym classes on Thursday and Friday this week. Please wear comfortable clothing and sneakers.
