I hope that everyone had a great weekend. This week, our School Book Fair begins Monday Oct.21st-Thursday Oct.24th,12:00 noon.Family night is Wednesday from 5-8pm. Students can fill out a ballot for a chance to win $25 of free books for themselves and their class.

The weather is certainly cooler in the morning so please wear your hats and mittens.

Every Tuesday- Friday we have gym classes. Wear comfortable clothing to run and play in the gym.

Library- we go to the library on Tuesday. Students sign out a book and keep it for the week. Students must return their book in order to sign out a new one.

Read borrow-a-books and review Zoo-phonics letters\sounds throughout the week. Students should read their books as often as they can. Pointing to each word and using the pictures to help identify unknown words. We have been reviewing many sight words in class and most are found in the borrow-a-books your child reads. Some students will be bringing home our first list of sight words this week. Please review them with your child and when they are able to quickly saying each word without hesitation, please sign the sheet and return it to class and a new list will be sent home.

Monday, October 7th we will be going to McAllister's Apple Orchard, at 9:00am. Please dress for the weather and wear rubber boots. We will be eating at the orchard, so students will need to bring a lunch that does not require heating as there is no microwave available. The cost is $5 per student, the Student Council will pay $2 and each student will pay $3. Return signed permission slip and money on Monday.Parents are welcome to join us and can meet us at the orchard.

Library- we go to the library every Tuesday. Students must return their book in order to sign out a new book.

Gym Classes are every Tuesday-Friday. Please wear comfortable clothes to run and play in.

This is Fire Prevention Week. Members from our local fire department will be doing a presentation for the K-2 students on Wednesday. Please review the information that was sent home and talk to your child of your fire prevention plans at home.

Borrow-a-Book- students will have three books to read this week. Read your books throughout the week. Focus on pointing to each word, using your picture to help figure out words and recognizing repetitive sight words on each page. Students should practice printing their own name on the reading log each time they read a book. Please return all 3 books in the borrow-a-book bag on Friday.

Now that the cooler weather is here, please dress for the weather. Send a hat, gloves or mittens with your child to have in case they are cold.  

There is no school Monday Oct.12th as we celebrate Thanksgiving. I wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving, have a fabulous weekend with your family and friends.

Monday Sept. 30th - Orange Shirt Day, wear orange to honour those who attended Residential School. 

Today we are going to Fletchers Farm. Please dress for the weather and wear sneakers as we will be doing a lot of walking.

 Tuesday is our library day. Please return your book so you will beable to sign out a new one. You may keep your book for a week.

On Tuesday, Scholastic book orders will be going home and are due back on Friday Oct. 4th. Pleasse send in the money with your order.

We have Gym Classes every Tuesday-Friday, please dress in comfortable clothing.

For homework this week please review Zoophonics letters\sounds and actions. Please focus on the letters a-e and also the letters in your childs name. Your child is to read their 3 borrow-a-books throughout the week. Read the books as many time as possible. Please have your child print their own name on the log sheet, this is good practice for them, especially for those who are still learning to print their name. Return all 3 books in the bag on Friday.

In Math we have been working on identifying and reproducing AB patterns. Look for patterns at home and see if you child can tell you what repeats in the pattern. We are focusing on numbers 0-5, saying the number sequence, recognizing and naming familiar arrangements of 1-3 objects. Play a dice game with your child, have them roll a dice and see if they can quickly name what they rolled without counting the dots. Have your child practice counting 0-5.

Happy Fall, Everyone!!!!

Borrow-a-Book-This week students will be bringing home their borrow-a-book bag. There are 3 books in the bag to read throughout the week and return on Friday. Please read carefully the memo in the bag with guidlines for reading the borrow-a-book. Remember to have your child print their name on the reading log each night.Should you have any question, please contact me at school, 627-4074.

Zoo-phonics- Please continue to review the letter\sound and actions throughout the week. Focus on the letters a-e and the letters in your childs name especially, if they do not recognize them.

Library- every Tuesday we will exchange our library book.Please return the book in the library bag. Students keep the book for the week.

Gym Class-  We have gym class every Tuesday-Friday. Please wear comfy clothing. 

Terry Fox Walk- Our annual school Terry Fox Walk is on Thursday, September, 26th at 1:00pm. Everyone is welcomed to come out and join us as we do our part to continue Terry's Marathon of Hope. We have been talking about Terry in class and would appreciated you sharing your knowledge of Terry's journey with your child. Our grade 8 leadership students have been raising money for the Terry Fox Foundation with a goal of $1500. If you would like to support this worth while cause please send in your donation for Thursday. Thanks so much!!!  

 

Orange Shirt Day- Monday, September 30th is Orange Shirt Day. We ask that everyone wear an orange shirt to honour Indian residential school survivors.

Fletcher's Farm- Our class will be going on a field trip to Fletcher's corn maze on Monday, September 30th at 9:00am.We will be walking to the farm from school. Please wear sneakers adn dress for the weather. There is no cost for our class for this trip and we appreciate the generosity of the Fletcher family.

 

Pumpkin Fling-  the Annual APEGNB Fall Harvest Pumpkin Fling takes place in Miramichi this Saturday, September 28th. The student catapult challenge starts at 1:00 p.m. with teams from our school participating.Come out and cheer on our students and show your school spirit. Go, Raiders, Go!!!

 Welcome back. I hope everyone had a fun weekend and are excited to be back at school.

This week in Kindergarten, I am sending home information about the Zoo-phonics program which we use to help reinforce  letter identification\sound. We will be reviewing the program daily in class and ask that students review actions and sounds for each letter every night at home. Should you have any questions or concerns please contact me at school, 627-4074. 

 We have been reviewing safety rules for; the classroom, playground, cafeteria, gym, school bus. A copy of the "I Care Rules and the provincial Dino School Bus Safety rules will be sent home this week, it would be appreciated if you could review these rules with your child. A copy of each will also be put on this web page. Thanks.

Phys. Ed. Class-Our gym classes are every Tuesday-Friday. The students do not change into gym clothes, however, it is beneficial if they wear comfortable clothing on these days.

Library-We will have our first Library class this Tuesday. All students will beable to sign out a book they choose from the school library. Our librarian, Mrs. Gallan, has spoken to the students about the importance of taking good care of their borrowed book. Please return the book in the bag it arrives in. Do not eat or drink when reading your book and do not mark in your book. Students may keep the book for 1 week to read. The book must be returned the following Tuesday so your child can sign out a new book. 

School picture orders are due Wednesday, September 18th. Re-takes will be taken next month. 

Meet the Teacher will be held this Thursday, September 19th at 5:00pm. I look forward to seeing you.

Student Fees- Just a reminder that the $25 fee for student school supplies and the $10 agenda fee are due. Thank you to those who have already paid.

A huge thank you to all Grandparents, parents and relatives who can to celebrate Grandparents Day with us. The children did a fantastic job with their poem and song and enjoyed performing for you on stage. It was great to meet so many of you and it was easy to see the love you share with your Grandchildren.You are a very important part of their lives and we thank you for all you do!!!

Another great day in Kindergarten with Ariana,Blake,Damon,David,Ella,Emma,Hudson,Jase,Shae and Savannah.What fun we had following the clues "Pete the Cat" left for us.The children had fun in gym class and playing outside on the playground.

I am looking forward to tomorrow when we will all be together in class. Let the learning and fun begin!!!

Don't forget it is picture day tomorrow Sept.5th for K-5 students. Smile, Smile, Smile!!!!!

What an awesome day we had in Kindergarten with Arabella, Evan, Grayson, Hallie, Jazlyn, Kenzie, Kylie, Layne, Leah, Lylah and Nora. Everyone made out just fine and enjoyed their day once they got comfortable in their new surroundings. Be sure to tell your family about your busy day and the fun you in Gym and Music Class, playing in the classroom and outside as well as looking for Pete the Cat. Just a reminder that you will return to school on Thursday, September 5th, as the rest of our classmates will be here with me tommorow, Sept. 4th. I can't wait to meet our new friends and I am looking forward to another great fun day. 

School pictures for K-5 will be on Thursday September 5th. Be sure to wear a smile!!!

WOW, can you believe it, your last week of Kindergarten!! Where has the time gone? We have a busy week ahead of us.

Happy Fathers Day to all Dad's I hope you had a fun weekend

Tuesday -Sports Day- we have a full day of fun activities for the children to participate in. Please wear sneakers and comfy clothes.Don't forget to bring a water bottle, hat and apply sun block and bug spray. We are ordering pizza for lunch, so if your child does not like pizza they will have to bring their lunch. The cafeteria will not be open. 

Wednesday- Kindergarten Super Duper Fun Day-we have planned a super day with the Mrs. Pooles class for our end of the year activity. We will be outside for most of the day, so please wear sneakers, comfy clothes and a hat. Apply sun screen, bug spray and bring a water bottle. We are planning to have a picnic outside so bring food that does not need to be heated.   

Friday- Our last day of school is a full day. The cafeteria will not be open so please bring your lunch and a drink, we are still able to heat food. Report cards will be given out at the end of the day.

I want to wish everyone a fantastic summer vacation. Dear Albion, Alexcia, Brielle, Carter, Dax, Harlan, Matthew, Owen, Reid, Renèe and Violet, it has been a pleaseure being your teacher and I am very proud of each of you. I hope you enjoyed your first year at Nelson Rural School and had a lot of fun in Kindergarten!!! Timelines were sent home on Monday and are due on Thursday, June 13th. In "You and Your World", we are discussing ways the children have changed since they were babies. Please share with your children some fun stories of what they were like as infants and toddlers. Did they have a favourite food, blanket, stuffy ,song etc.? The students will present their timelines to the class, so it would be helpful if they could share something special about themselves. Thanks for your support!

 

 

We hope all Mom's and Grandmother's had a wonderful Mothers Day.Thank you for all you do for us. We love you!

We had an awesome day fishing on Monday,at the 1st annual Nelson Rural School Striper Cup. A huge thank you to everyone who came out to help the children. They were very excited and had a great time. A big thanks to our Grade 8 buddies who came and showed the students how to cast and reel in their line. We didn't catch any fish but, we did have a lot of fun and many want to try fishing again. 

Book Fair begins Monday and finishes on Wednesday at 12:00. Family night is Tuesday evening from 5:00-8:00pm. 

Library- our books are due this week but, because of the book fair we will not be signing out a new book. The children will pick a book from our classroom library to take home for the week.

Gym classes are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.Please dress in comfy clothes.

Math Games go home on Tuesday and are due back on Thursday. The children are excited to pick their own math game each week. I hope that you are having fun playing the games with them.

Please continue to read each night with your child and review the Rock star sight words during the week. Remember to sign the sheet when your child can recognize the words quickly. Once they know the words you can have your child practice printing the words from the list. Thank you for your continued support.

There will be no school on Monday for the Victoria Day holiday, so have a great long weekend!!

Hi everyone! Welcome Back!!

This is a short week at school so we are sending our Math games home on Monday,April 29th.Play your game two nights and return it to school on Wednesday.

Gym classes this week are on Monday and Wednesday.

No School for Students on Thursday May 2nd and Friday May 3rd due to Teacher Meetings.

We are already into day 2 of our School Spirit week challenge. What great spirit and participation our class has shown so far, on Inside Out & Backwards day and Twin day. Tomorrow (Wed.) is Floral\Hawaiian Shirt day and Thursday is School Colours day. Continue to show your school pride, everyone!

Welcome Back,everyone!!! I hope that everyone had a great break and are excited to be back to class. Monday,March 11th is the 100th day of school. We have a fun day and week planned with lots of different activities centered around the number 100. The K-2 students and teachers have come up with 100 reasons why we love our school. Be sure to check out our display on the wall between the Kindergarten classes. We have been collecting can goods for the food bank and will count them today to see if we have reached 100.You can still bring in donations today and we are grateful for your support. We will be displaying our 100th day collections in class today. Please bring your collection in today if you have not already done so.                                                                                                    

Homework- Read your Borrow-a-book and practice your Rock Star Words each night. Remember, once you can quickly recognize all of these word have Mom or Dad sign the sheet and return it to school. I will check your words and give you the next list if you are ready.

On Tuesday,March 12th,we have buddy skating at the Civic Center from 9:20-10:00am. This will be our final skating activity for the year, so please come out and join us and thanks for all of your support.

We have library on Tuesday and will be signing out a new book.This book can be kept home for a week and returned the following Tuesday. Also, the Credit Union will be at school on Tuesday for those students who wish to make a deposit.

We have gym classes every week day except Tuesday. Please wear comfy clothing for running and exercising.
