Congratulations to Derrica who won the contest for Fire Chief For The Day!! We had a visit from the Miramichi Fire Department on Tuesday December 15th. She was presented the honour by the Fire Chief. The class also had a pizza party and received fire hats. It was an exciting day!!

Hi Everyone!
I hope you had a great weekend! We have some snow down, so please make sure that you are dressed for the weather.
Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days for the week are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Homework/Reading Program - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week focus on /ar/ words and short vowel sounds. The word work activity is on this as well. In Math we are working on counting by 5s to 100, counting by 2s starting at 1 and problem solving using mental math strategies. We are doing some more work with blends nad writing sentences. Please make sure you read each night and record your book on the log sheet.
Grade 8 Power Play Fair - The Grade 8 students will be selling products they have created. Students will be able to go and view the products and then place orders for any items they would like to buy. The fair will take place in the library on Tuesday December 15th.
PJ Day - Friday December 18th is PJ Day. Students can wear their Pjs. If you can, please bring a $2.00 donation for the Food Bank.
Last Day Of Classes - Our last day of classes is on Friday December 18th.

The students did a super job on their Christmas bulbs. We used them to create a Christmas tree!! Beautiful job Grade 2 !!

Library - Our library day is on Tuesday. Please make sure all books are returned. The cut off date before the Christmas Break is December 10th.
Homework/Reading Program - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week focus on the short /i/ and /o/ vowels sounds. The word work activity is on this as well. This week we are continuing our work on blends, as this is an area where we need more practice. In Math we are starting work on counting by 5s. We continue to work on mental math strategies and using them to help with adding and subtracting. This week we have some word problems as well. Please make sure you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet. Remember to use the strategies we have been working on to help when you are reading.
Christmas Dinner - Our Christmas Dinner is on Thursday December 10th. Please note that the ham dinner is the only meal being served that day. If students did not order the meal, they will have to bring their lunch.
Christmas Shirt Day - We will have a Christmas Shirt/Sweater Day on Thursday December 10th. Students and staff are asked to make a $2.00 donation, with all proceeds going to the Food Bank. Thank you for your support with this project.
Last Day Of Class - The last day of school before the Christmas Break will be on Friday December 18th.

The students did an awesome job with their Christmas trees, they designed and painted them! They look fabulous Grade 2!! We used them to deck the halls on Nelson Rural, to spread a little Christmas Spirit!!
