Grade 2 News November 9 - November 13

Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a good weekend and enjoyed the nice weather.

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Library - Our library day is on Tuesday, so make sure you bring your book back so you can sign out another one.

Virtual Remembrance Day Service - We will be having a virtual Remembrance Day service this year on Tuesday November 10th at 1:00PM. This will be live streamed on our School Facebook page "Nelson Rural School Information".

Poppy Donation - Please bring in a poppy donation if you can.

No School - Wednesday November 11th is Remembrance Day. There is no school. Please take some time to remember our Canadian veterans and soldiers and what they did for us.

Homework/Reading - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week focus on the short /o/ vowel sound and the word work activity is on this as well. We are continuing to work on writing detailed sentences using pictures. Make sure your sentences begin and end the right way. In Math we are counting by 1s, 2s and 10s forwards and backwards. Please make sure that you read one book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Grade 2 News November 2 - November 6

Hi Everyone!

It is hard to believe that we are into the month of November! The temperatures are getting colder, so make sure you are dressed for the weather.

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday,

Library - Our library day is on Tuesday. Make sure you bring your book back, so you can sign out another one.

Homework/Reading - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week focus on the short /e/ vowel sound and the word work activity is on this as well. In writing we are working on adding more details to our sentences and making sure that they begin and end the right way. For math we are working on even and odd numbers, comparing and ordering numbers to 25, place value to 25 and counting by 2s to 22, 1s to 25 and 10s to 100. Make sure that you read a book each night from the bag and record it on your log sheet.

Heart Healthy Schools Challenge - Our shool is working on the challenge to become a Heart Healthy School. There are 5 different challenges to work on. The first one is 5 Fruits and Vegetables. If you bring fruits or vegetables for snack you will get a ticket to put into a draw for a free lunch at the end of the month. There is more information on the main page of the School Website.

Halloween Fun!!

We celebrated Halloween with black and orange day. The students had fun making their own pumpkin magnets and playing counting musical white boards and sight word BOO. The fruits and veggie trays were yummy too!

Ghosts and Spiders!!

The students did a great job with their writing about ghosts and the spooky ghosts they made. The spiders were pretty creepy too!

Library - Our library day is on Tuesday. Make sure you bring your book back so you can sign out a new one.

Homework/Reading - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folder. Our Week 2 spelling words focus on the short /i/ vowel sound and the word work activity focuses on this as well. With writing we are continuing to work on writing sentences and adding details. Use the pictures to write your sentences and make sure that sentences begin and end properly. In math we are working on place value, counting and odd and even numbers. Remember to read your book each night and record your book on the log sheet.

Black and Orange Day - We are having balck and orange day for Halloween on Thursday October 29th.

Picture Orders - If you are placing an order for school pictures they are due back on Thursday October 29th.

No School - There is no school for students on Friday October 30th, as it is a PLD for teachers.
