Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a good weekend!

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Library - Our library day is on Tuesday. Make sure you bring your book back, so yoy can sign out another one.

Homework/Reading Program - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week focus on the short /u/ vowel sound. The word work activity is on this as well. In Math we are starting work on adding and subtracting to 18, using mental math strategies: Doubles/ Making 10/ 1 More / 1 Less/ Adding 0. We are working on the 6+1 Writing Traits. We have done ideas, now we are working on organization - Telling things in order. The writing activity this week focuses on that. Make sure you read each night and record your book on the log sheet.

No School - Friday November 20th is a PLD for teachers. There is no school for students.

Picture Retakes - Our picture retake day and sibling pictures was cancelled for Nov. 12th. The new date is Monday November 23rd.

The students worked on Remembrance Day activities. Writing about what Remembrance Day and Peace mean to them. They made poppies and wrote a Thank You note to our Canadian Soldiers and Veterans. We Will Remember.

Virtual Remembrance Day Service - We will be having a virtual Remembrance Day service this year on Tuesday November 10th at 1:00PM. This will be live streamed on our School Facebook page "Nelson Rural School Information". 

Poppy Donation - Please bring in a poppy donation if you can.

No School - Wednesday November 11th is Remembrance Day. There is no school. Please take some time to remember our Canadian veterans and soldiers and what they did for us.

We are continuing to work on writing detailed sentences using pictures. Make sure your sentences begin and end the right way. In Math we are counting by 1s, 2s and 10s forwards and backwards. Please make sure that you read one book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Hi Everyone!

It is hard to believe that we are into the month of November! The temperatures are getting colder, so make sure you are dressed for the weather.

Homework/Reading - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week focus on the short /e/ vowel sound and the word work activity is on this as well. In writing we are working on adding more details to our sentences and making sure that they begin and end the right way. For math we are working on even and odd numbers, comparing and ordering numbers to 25, place value to 25 and counting by 2s to 22, 1s to 25 and 10s to 100. Make sure that you read a book each night from the bag and record it on your log sheet.

Heart Healthy Schools Challenge - Our shool is working on the challenge to become a Heart Healthy School. There are 5 different challenges to work on. The first one is 5 Fruits and Vegetables. If you bring fruits or vegetables for snack you will get a ticket to put into a draw for a free lunch at the end of the month. There is more information on the main page of the School Website.

We celebrated Halloween with black and orange day. The students had fun making their own pumpkin magnets and playing counting musical white boards and sight word BOO. The fruits and veggie trays were yummy too!

The students did a great job with their writing about ghosts and the spooky ghosts they made. The spiders were pretty creepy too!
