Note to Parents

The important thing about the suggestions on this page is that they get your child thinking and talking

The “Greater Good Magazine” site has a lot of great information and the body scan meditation is very relaxing you may want to check them out as well

This is a stressful time for parents as well and we as teachers understand that and do not want to be adding to your plate. It is my hope that your child will be able to do the activities I suggest without your assistance but having said that they are wellness oriented and you may benefit from them as well, I know I am.

Day 1

We have talked about the benefits of journaling in class and I would like you to start a Covid-19 journal. This can take on many forms book, video, photo etc. or a combination of them all. Journaling is healing and mental health will be the focus of all the activities on my page. For today I would like you to read the article and answer the questions. Read the questions first so you can be thinking about them as you read. I realize that this activity is like Mr. Bosma’s so I by no means expect you to do 2 journal entries, just incorporate this in the journal entry you do for him. Mr. Bosma has set up a Teams page and you can discuss the questions on there as well.

Questions to think about as you read and to respond to in your journal.

How can we help each other during this crisis? What have you been doing to help? What have you been reading about others doing?

What does it mean to stay away from each other physically but still work together? How are we doing this?

There is a good 2 ½ minute video on the right-hand sidebar called “How to Clear Your Head” that you may want to watch.

The Body Scan Meditation is a great way to work on your focus practice.

The Greater Good Magazine is filled with information, you may want to take some time to browse through it.

Enjoy your day, the sun is shining and it is beautiful outside!

Great site for vocabulary. We added this to our favorites in the computer lab this afternoon. It introduces the vocabulary with pictures then there are games to check your memory.

I told the students to bring home their reading journals and books but other than that there is no homework. This would be a great time to watch a Netflix movie with language and subtitles switched to French. Immersion works best when we are immersed this includes leisure and off time. May also be a good time to check out some of the sites and video’s I have added to this page, every little bit counts.
