Good morning! I hope everyone had a great weekend!
Welcome to our second week of home learning. Here is what I would like everyone to work on today:
Writing:Make a list of things that can be found in your bedroom. Imagine those items came to life and create a story about what happens. Use your imagination!!
*If you prefer to send it to me in an email, please send it to abby.sullivan@nbed.nb.ca. You can either type your story or take a picture of what you wrote. I enjoy reading them throughout the day! If you choose not to do this, or do not have access to a device, remember to keep your writing pieces together and bring them with you when we go back to school.
Reading:Please listen to the story, The Trouble with Time Travel on Tumblebooks. When you are finished listening to the story, take the quiz.
Website: TumbleBooks - eBooks for eKids! (tumblebooklibrary.com)

I would also like you to read a book of your choice for 20 minutes. Remember to make sure you are keeping track of all the books you are reading in your log.
Math:Warm up- choose three of the riddles to solve and determine what the mystery number is. Break the problem down solving one step at a time.
1) Start with the number 20. Subtract 5. Add the two digits in your new number together. Multiply by 5. What number am I?
2) Start with the number 1. Add 11. Multiply by 2. Add 6. What number am I?
3) Start with the number 23. Add 7. Subtract 4. Add the two digits in your new number together. Multiply by 3. What number am I?
4) Start with the number 2. Add 10. Multiply by 1. Add 8. What number am I?
5) I am more than 650. I am less than 750. I have the digit 8 in the ones place. The sum of my three digits is 18. What number am I?
Subtraction worksheet: Please work on the subtraction math sheet in your ‘Home Learning’ packet. Remember to bring this back to school with you when we go back.
Dreambox (20 minutes):You can sign in to your Dreambox account and work on your assigned lessons. Your login information is in your ‘Home Learning’ packet.
STEAM: Go outside and collect 8-10 rocks that you can observe and investigate. Wash your rocks if they are dirty. How do the rocks look different after they have been cleaned? Once they are cleaned, examine each rocks physical properties by answering/thinking about the following questions.
· Is the rock one colour? Or more than one colour? Please think about the colour of the rock.
· Is the rock round, or pointy, or triangular? Please think about the rocks shape.
· Is the rock dull, or shiny, or does it have a design on it? Please think about the unique characteristics of the rock.
· Is the rock small, or large, or medium sized? Please think about the size of the rock.
· Is the rock heavy, or light? Please think about the weight of the rock.
After you observe and investigate the different physical properties of each rock, use all your rocks to build and create something. It can be anything! Can you create a shelter? Can you create a tower with all your rocks, are you able to stack them all? Can you create a pattern or design with your rocks?
When you are building, notice the different rock properties. Does the placement of the rocks matter? Why do you think that is? Are you able to create the same structure or design, by moving the rocks? If you need to gather more rocks to create something, please do! Have fun with it!
As always send along any pictures of you working hard throughout the day. I would love to see what you come up with for your rock building creation!
Make sure to get outside and get some fresh air!! If you have any questions at all or require assistance for any of the activities, please email me and I will be glad to help.
