Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a fun weekend and were able to get outside to play. There is lots of snow on the playground and we have been having some colder temperatures, so please make sure that you are dressed for the weather.

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Our library day is on Friday. Please make sure you bring your book back so you can get out another one.

Scholastic Book Orders - If you would like to order a book from the January Book Club, please have your orders in by Thursday January 21st.

Homework - Our spelling words this week focus on the /oo/ /ou/ /o/ vowel sounds that say /u/ and the long /i/ vowel sounds that have a /y/ as the vowel. We are working on using voice in our writing so the writing activity involves using voice to let your reader know how you feel about the topic. In Math we are working on word problems and fact families. Please make sure that you are reading each night and record your book on the log sheet.

Math - We are working on a unit of Addition and Subtraction to 18. Please work on the facts and strategies sheet that we sent home. These will help with adding and subtracting quickly. This week we will be focussing on fact families and equal and unequal.

Skating - Our next skating day is on Thursday January 28th. Ice time is 9:45 - 10:25AM. Make sure you have your skates and helmets. Parents and grandparents are welcome to join us.

Have a fantastic week!

Hi Everyone!

Welcome Back and Happy New Year! We are looking forward to a new year of learning and fun!

Phys. ED - Our Phys. Ed Days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Our library day is on Friday, make sure you bring your book back so you can get another one.

Math - We have started our new unit on Addition and Subtraction to 18. This week we sent home a sheet with strategies we are using in class along with math facts to learn. Students can be working on these each night. These will help with adding and subtracting quickly.

Homework - Our Homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. Our spelling words this week focus on the long /i/ bossy /e/ vowels. In math we are working on using pictures for adding and subtracting, word problems and adding and subtracting 0. We have started a new writing trait and that is using voice in our writing. Using voice lets your reader know how you feel about a topic.

Class Project With Texas - We reconnected with our friends this week. Cadie, Madison and Eddie did a super job as the class reporter, weather reporter and poetry reader. They did not have any snow for Christmas. They did have some very dangerous weather close to Dallas with tornadoes over the holidays. Can you believe that they only planted their tulips on Thursday January 7th? That's three months after we planted ours!

Have a wonderful week!
