Welcome to Mrs. Poole's Kindergarten Classroom Page

Good morning everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. Please let your little one know that I am thinking of them and miss them. Today, please practice reading your books. Locate sight words that you know on each page. For writing today, try making a list. Go on an alphabet scavenger hunt around your house. Find an item that begins with the Aa sound. Print the sounds you hear in the word. For example: apple may look like apl in Kinder writing. Now look for an item that begins with the Bb sound. Keep going and see how many things you can find. For math today, play go fish. If your little one needs a challenge, you can try "Tens Go Fish". I have included a file with the rules. Do 1-2 pages in your Home Learning packet as well. Have a wonderful day. Please message me if you have any questions. Take Care and stay safe.

Good morning! I hope your Thursday is off to a good start. If you haven't visited Storyline Online yet this week, today would be a great day to listen to a story. For writing time today, write a note to a family member telling them what you love about them. Deliver your note and see how happy you've made someone today. You can also write a note to a loved one who lives away and mail it to them. :) Play 10 Up or another game to work on your math skills. You can try a "Make sets to 10 Scavenger Hunt" Find 1 scarf, 2 shoes, 3 hats, 4 cups, 5 spoons , 6 mittens/gloves. 7 toys~ cars/dolls, 8 Q-Tips or cotton balls, 9 pieces of cereal, 10 socks. Have fun! Improvise if you can't find all of the items. Challenge: How many things did you find altogether? Send me a picture of you and the items you find :)

Good morning everyone!

It is a new year and I'd like to extend wishes for a very happy 2022 to you all. I included some New Year pages in the week 1 packets that will be a good way to ease into home learning. The first writing page in the packet has a title: "My Christmas Break". Typically we would share a favourite memory from our time away and then begin drawing and writing. Prompt your little one to think about their Christmas break and what they loved the most. They can begin drawing, adding details as they think of them. When they are ready to write, some may need assistance to record the words they wish to write. In class, I sit with them and help with hearing and recording sounds. Ask your little one what they want to say. Count the words and remind them they will need to write that many words. If they want to say, I went skating. It was really fun! Tackle 1 sentence at a time. The sentence may look like: I wnt skating (I would spell "ing" for them). It ws rele fun! We write the sounds we hear unless we know the word. Please resist the urge to spell for them. Be sure to prompt them to leave a space between each word and to put a period or exclamation mark at the end of each sentence. Next, let your child choose which book(s) they would like to read first. They may or may not need support the first read through. Have them re-read the book independently as many times as they like. It is great for building fluency and sight word recognition. There are a few math sheets in the "week 1" packet that they can work on. There are also math games that be played with a family member such as 10 Up, BUMP or Roll-A-Snowman in the "Extra" packet.

There are online sites such as Storyline, Tumble Books, Squiggle Park and Boom Cards to use as well. Jack Hartman has many counting and exercise videos as well as.

Physical Education: Visit Mrs. Dickson's page as she has posted activities that the children will enjoy.

How you structure your child's day is up to you. Everyone's situation is different. All you can do is your best. I am here to support you. Take Care.

Please let your child know that they are missed~very much. Mrs. Poole

"Here is a rehearsal in the music room for our Christmas concert. We were not able to meet again to do a finished product due to school closing for an early Christmas Break-but it is cute just the same. Here's to hoping we can meet for a live show next year."
