Note to parents. Students started a historical fiction novel today. I expect that they will have it at least half read by Friday, some should finish by then. Reading time is dependent on the size and reading level of the book they chose. We have done considerable work around picking just right books so your child should have picked a book that is appropriate for their reading level and the two week deadline to read it that they were given. We will start the book report which will be written in essay form early next week and it will be due before the March break.

·                Partager votre cahier de vocabulaire avec quelqu'un (we have accomplished a lot in the short time we have been together, words are only put into their vocabulary scribbler after we have used and practiced them in class)

We will be exchanging valentines on Friday if yourr child wishes to do so. They may also bring in treats for the class.

·        Partager votre robot à quelqu'un à la maison (just need to show someone what we are doing in class, this does not need to be finished)

·         Spelling - continue studying no excuse words. All the provinces Yukon & Northwest Territories

·         Read 20-60 min.

·         Work on book reports for points.

·         Cursive Writing – all sheets except Nunavut

·         Students were put into groups to start a novel study.

If books are available on Audiobooks it is my suggestion that students still read them on their own either before or after they listen to it. It is important for the students to hear good reading and the flow of language and I have recommended they download them if this is available to them.

Code Talker – Is available as an audio book through I-books for 17.95. I do realize this is expensive and it is a suggestion only.

-          finish pre-reading activities

Eagle Song - Is available as an audio book through I-books for the reasonable price of           3.95.

-          Read ch. 1 and do questions

Bearwalker – Read ch. 1 and do discussion director sheet. (3 good discussion stimulating questions)
