Good Morning Grade 2!
We are off to another chilly start, but it is supposed to warm up this afternoon! I hope that everyone had a good day yesterday.
Here are some activities you can work on today.
Orange Homework Books
- Read – Choose a book to read from the reading bag. Use your strategies to help with the reading and record the on the log sheet.
- Read – Share a story book with someone at home or share one from Tumble Books. The link and passwords are on the class page.
- Spelling – Week 7 Words – The focus this week is on the short /i/ and /o/ vowel sounds. Go over the words, practice spelling them out loud and writing them down
- Word Work – Blends and Vowels – Winter Words – Look at each picture, say the word. What blends or vowels do you hear? Fill in the missing ones. Pick 2 of the words and write a sentence for each one. Tell good details and make sure your sentences begin and end the right way.
Home Learning Pack – Week 1
- Math – Warm Up – Count and Move! – Put on a Jack Hartman Video, or count and move on your own.
- Math – Sheet – Addition and Subtraction Word Problems/Counting different ways. Solve each word problem; count by 5s; 10s starting at 2; 2s starting at 1.
- Math Game – Try Snowman Bump or Go Fish – Doubles – This one is in the purple Folder in Your Home Learning Kit that was sent home at the beginning of the year.
- Writing – How To Build A Snowman – Organization – Step By Step Instructions. How do you make a snowman? What steps do you take? How would you tell someone, who never made a snowman before? Do the first and second steps today. Explain what to do. Add good details and make sure you tell things in order. Draw and colour a picture for each step in the boxes. Use the snowman word sheet to help with your writing.
Calendar and Weather
- Go over the calendar and weather. There is a calendar page added to the Documents section on the class page, or you might have a calendar at home to use.
Technology/On-Line Programs
- If you have access to a device and have some extra time, you can log on to Squiggle Park or Dream Box Math and play.
- Some students still have their agendas at home and the codes and passwords are taped on the inside cover.
- Those who don’t have their agendas, I emailed the codes and passwords yesterday. If I missed someone , please let me know.
Home Learning Kits
- Just a reminder that you can also use materials from the Home Learning Kit that was sent home at the beginning of the year if you are looking for extra activities.
- There are lots of math games you can play with your family too.
Outdoor Play
- It is supposed to be much warmer this afternoon, so you may be able to get outside, enjoy some fresh air and play! If the snow is good for snowman making, you might want to try the challenge on the STEAM Choice Board I added under documents.
- Check Mrs. Dickson’s page for some fun Phys. Ed activities.
STEAM Time
- I have added a STEAM Choice Board under the Documents Tab. Try to do 1 activity during the week.
Photos
- Send along pictures of any of the activities you do. I would love to see them and will add them to our class page to share with the rest of the class.
I am available throughout the day by e-mail if you have any questions or need support with activities. I am here to help, so please reach out for anything you need. lisa.sullivan@nbed.nb.ca
