Good Morning Grade 2!

Happy Friday!! I hope that everyone had a good day yesterday! It looks like we are in for another cold day!!

Here are some activities you can work on today.

Orange Homework Books

  • Read – Choose a book to read from the reading bag. Use your strategies to help with the reading and record the book on the log sheet.
  • Spelling – Test - Week 8 - The focus this week is on the /o/ and /e/ vowel sounds that say their own name in shorter words. Use the test sheet in your pack and have someone at home call out the words for you. Spell them on the sheet. Good luck!!

Home Learning Pack – Week 2

  • Word Work – Sight Words – Get out your sight Word lists from the original Home Learning Kit and see how many you can do.
  • Math – Warm Up – Count and Move! – Put on a Jack Hartman Video, or count and move on your own. Try counting by 10s to 100 and backwards from 100.
  • Math – Sheet – Numbers and Operations – Adding and Subtracting – Read the word problems and find the answer. Adding and subtracting number sentences. Use your strategies to find the answers.
  • Math Game – Try  Snowman Bump or Math Card Game – What’s The Difference? Subtract – This one is in the purple Folder on the Math Card and Dice Games Board, in Your Home Learning Kit that was sent home at the beginning of the year.
  • Writing Making Your Own Book – There is a blank book to use in your pack. Continue writing and illustrating your book. Each page should tell one idea and the picture should be coloured and go with the writing on the page. Make sure your sentences begin and end properly. If you don’t get it all done, you can finish it up next week. I can’t wait to hear you read them when we are back at school!
  • Read – Share a story book with someone at home or share one from Tumble Books. The link and passwords are on the class page.

Calendar and Weather

  • Go over the calendar and weather. There is a calendar page added to the Documents section on the class page, or you might have a calendar at home to use. What day of the week is it? What day of the week does this month end on? What month comes after this one?
  • Check the weblink for the weather. Compare the temperatures for the next 7 days. What is the high? What is the low? How many days of sun will there be? How many days of snow? Which is more? How much more?
