Good Morning Grade 2!

Wow!! What a cold start to the day! I hope everyone had a good day yesterday.

Here are some activities to work on today.

 Orange Homework Books

  • Read – Choose a book to read from the reading bag. Use your strategies to help with the reading and record the on the log sheet.
  • Read – Share a story book with someone at home.
  • Spelling – Week 7 Words – The focus this week is on the short /i/ and /o/ vowel sounds. Go over the words, practice spelling them out loud.
  • Math – Count by 5s to 100; 2s starting at 1 and going to 21; 10s starting at 9 and going to 109. Use your double strategy to answer the number sentences.

Home Learning Pack – Week 1

  • Word Work – Colour By Code – Spelling Words – Say each word – Check the code and colour the space.  Practice spelling the words out loud as you say them.
  • Math – Warm Up – Count and Move! – Put on a Jack Hartman Video, or count and move on your own.
  • Math - Work on some of your math facts. (Orange Sheet in your folder.)
  • Math Game – Snowman Bump or Go Fish – Ways To Make 10 – This one is in the purple Folder in Your Home Learning Kit that was sent home at the beginning of the year.
  • Writing – 6+1 Writing Traits – Organization – Getting Ready For Bed –  Finish this writing activity if you did not get it all done yesterday. Make sure your sentences begin and end the right way and you have a coloured detailed picture for each step.

 Calendar and Weather

  • I have added a January calendar page. Have a look and go over the day, date, and year. Use the questions on the bottom to do more activities with the calendar, You might have a calendar at home you can use.
  • There is a link to the Weather Network. Have a look at the temperature for today and compare the temperatures for the week. What is the high and low temperature?

 Technology/On-Line Programs

  • If you have access to a device and have some extra time, you can log on to Squiggle Park or Dream Box Math and play.
  • I forgot the student’s agendas are here with the codes in them, I will try to send them out by e-mail today.

 Home Learning Kits

  • Just a reminder that you can also use materials from the Home Learning Kit that was sent home at the beginning of the year if you are looking for extra activities.
  • There are lots of math games you can play with your family too.

Outdoor Play – I think it is a little too cold to be outside today, so maybe you can play and  do some exercises inside to get you moving. Check Mrs. Dickson’s page for some fun Phys. Ed activities.

STEAM Time – I have added a STEAM Choice Board. As it is too cold to go outside to play, you can choose an activity from the board to do.

I am available throughout the day by e-mail if you have any questions or need support with activities.    lisa.sullivan@nbed.nb.ca
