Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a fun weekend and enjoyed the nice weather. It looks like we might finally be getting some spring temperatures!

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days are on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Library day is on Tuesday, so bring your book back, so you can sign out a new one.

Play - We will be travelling to JMH on Monday April 23rd to see the play Into The Woods. Students are asked to bring in $2.00 to help cover the cost if they can.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the grey folders. Our spelling words for the week focus on contractions and the word work activity does as well. We continue to work on estimation in Math and this week we will start working on measurement using non-standard units. Students can keep working on their strategies and facts as well. When you are doing your reading comprehension story, make sure that you use the strategies we have been working on. Read the story twice; read the question; find the answer in the story; underline or highlight the answers; circle the answer. Go back and read again if you can't remember. Please make sure that you read your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Half Day - Just a reminder that Wednesday April 25th is a half day for students, as it is a Professional Learning Day for teachers. Dismissal will be at 11:30AM.

Class Project With Texas - We met with our friends on Friday. Sydney, Grayson and Riley B., did an awesome job as the class and weather reporters and poetry reader. We are still learning lots of different things about each other. They are having beautiful spring weather, everything is in bloom and they were out for a picnic on Thursday! We hope we will be enjoying that kind of weather soon! We are really tired of our snow suits!!

Earth Day/Taking Care of the Environment - We are finding out lots of information about ways we can help take care of the environment and protect our resources so they are always here. We all have to do our part to help out! The students did a great job with bringing a litterless lunch on Friday. That is something we can try to do every day. Turning off the tap when you brush your teeth, and turning off the lights when you leave the room are two little things that could turn out to be a big help if everyone does it!

Have a super week!

Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a fun weekend!

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Our library day is on Tuesday. Please bring your book back so you can sign out another one.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the grey folders. Our spelling words this week focus on compound words. Two little words that make up one big word. The word work activity is on compound words as well. In Math we have started working on estimation. When we estimate we make a good guess on about how many there are. We continue to work on adding, subtraction and counting in different ways. There is a sheet on counting on by 10s using dimes. We are working on reading comprehension stories. As Earth Day is coming up, there is a story about that and questions to answer. Remember to use the strategies we are working on: Read the story twice; read the questions; find the answer in the story and highlight or underline it; circle the right answer. Please make sure you are reading your book each night and record it on the log sheet.

Collaborative Project With Dallas, Texas - We met with our friends on Thursday. Brooke and Kian did a super job as the class and weather reporters. The class did two poems together: What The Robin Told and It's Time For Spring! They did a fabulous job! Our friends got our letters. They loved the pictures we sent them with all the snow. They sent us a video of the tulips in bloom!! We will have to wait a while to see our garden in bloom! We checked the Journey North Map and there are many gardens in the USA, Canada and around the world that have already emerged or bloomed. The ones that are farther north are still waiting.

Math Games - The math games will go home again on Tuesday. Please return them on Thursday. Make sure that all the pieces are put back in the bag and you sign the log sheet. Have fun!

Have a super week!

Hi Everyone!

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the grey folders. Our spelling words this week focus on base words and word endings /ing/ and /s/. The word work activity is on choosing the right word to make the sentence sound right, using the right word ending. In math we continue to work on equal and unequal using the symbols. We are doing more work with reading comprehension strategies. Students will have a story to read and then answer multiple choice questions. Remember to use all parts of the story; go back and read again and underline the answers in the story. It is important that students read each night and record their book on the log sheet.
