Ms. Hitchman

welcome back!

Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a great Halloween and you were able to trick or treat in your costumes! I will be posting the costumes today, so if anyone has not sent me pictures yet but would like to, please send them by noon.

Here is some home learning your kiddos can do today.
Reading: Read for 10-15 minutes, either a book in their homework bag or log in to Boukili.
Sound of the week: Listen to the sound of the week "ON". I will be posting the sound cards as well on our fb group.
Math: Complete one assignment on Zorbit Math in the bookbag. If students can not access Zorbits math, they are to complete this week's task card: Represent the number 11 in three ways using anything around the house.
Students can also play the snakes and ladders math game board in their home learning packets that were sent home. You will find counters and dice as well. Great way to practice numbers in French.
Exploratory: Students can draw a picture of each of their family members including their pets on small pieces of paper. This will be used when we get back to class for our project on Family.

*I will be available between school hours if you have any questions or concerns. I will also be uploading different activities students can do as well each day.
Below, I have attached the Virtual home learning file to help you plan out your day!
Have a great first day of November!
Mme Hitchman :)

Happy Monday everyone! Hard to believe it’s the last week of September!
Here is the homework for the week!
Reading: We have a new book about what is in their bookbag. We are learning different objects around the classroom in French! I will add a song that will help them with vocabulary as well.
Sound: The sound of the week is "E" They are to listen to the song and make the action which is their hand to their chest and sing along.
Math: Students have their first math task in their Math wallets this week! They are to do the task on the card. Please return the Math wallet every Friday so I can put their new task in for the following week. There is a number path and hundreds chart to help them. This week we are working on skip counting by 2.
  • Any coloring that wasn't finished in class, is to be completed at home.
  • Library is on Tuesdays, please return books to check out new books.
  • Orange Shirt day is on Thursday!

Happy Monday everyone!
Day 10 of school and students are already settling right into the classroom routines.
Here is our homework for the week:
Reading: Students Read 10 minutes each night: Our first French book was sent home today for students to read! Students keep it all week and return it on Friday. There is a number on their book, which is their number for the year so I can keep track of who has which book. We do this so that we have enough books for the following year. Students also have their color book that they can read and any student who didn't have time to finish coloring, are to finish it at home.
Boukili: This reading site is wonderful for students and we have been reading books on it as a class. I have set up every student with their own account, so if students would like to use it at home, it is a great site for them to follow along with the books and get use to French pronunciation. They start in Canada, and travel to different countries around the world. They also unlock games each time they read a book. This was used when we had to do home learning last year, and is a great resource for students who want to continue strengthening their reading. This is optional, however if we ever go back to home learning, this will be used for their reading component.
Class Code is on my parent group page. :)

Sound work: The sound of the week is "A". Students are to listen to the sound song each night and do the action.

BOOM cards: If students have access to a computer, they can access Boom cards at home which will have sound games, letter recognition, math number games, etc. I have included their username card on the inside of their agendas. All of their passwords are the pictures "Dog & Cat" but can be changed at home to something else. https://wow.boomlearning.com/signin/student?req=login

Reminders:
Tuesday: Library
Thursday: Fletcher's Farm: Memo in home folders.
Friday: Show and tell: ORANGE is the color
Have a wonderful week!

Reminder that Picture day is tomorrow! :)

Happy Monday everyone!
Here is the homework for the week:
  • Sound of the week: Play the sound of the week song so students can sing along and do the action. This week the sound is "i" I will be sending a sheet home with the sound words on it so they can read the words as well.
  • Alphabet: Students are to trace the letters of the alphabet on the sheet and fill in the missing letters. I have attached some songs they can listen to, to help them with their pronunciation.
All homework is due back on Fridays. Some work may be sent home if not completed in class (Coloring can take some time)

* I put their reading logs in their home folders already, however I will be starting to send books home next week. For this week, I will be uploading their sound book, or sending a physical copy home with them to begin to read. Parents can print the book in the reading log, students can color a thumbs up down or sideways depending if they found it easy, ok, or hard. Students are also asked to colour a leaf for every book they read. If they read one book 3 times, they can colour three leaves.

Have a great week!
