Each evening students will be expected to read for 20 minutes and record it in their log.  Occassionally, they will be given a math sheet to complete and return to school.  Most weeks they will be given a list of spelling words on Monday for them to study for the week.  They will have a test on Friday of that week.  Please check agendas each evening for notices and/or important memos.

There is an app that you can download that can help children learn to read and increase their phonic awareness.  I added the link below.  Students can create their own Monster which they will use for the games.  There are 3 different levels; one for students in preschool or kindergarten who are just beginning to learn their letters and sounds, the second is for beginning readers and the third level is for more advanced readers.  There are different games and activities that students can focus on  Happy reading!

On Education.com, they offer Independent Study Packets for students from Preschool to Grade 5.  The booklets offer a variety of worksheets for the week including subjects like Math, Language Arts and Science.  During this pandemic, they are free to everyone.  They are very benefitial and I use them on a regular basis with my own two children.  I hope this helps with some extra activities.

I hope everyone is enjoying this time at home with their family.  Stay safe Raiders!

A fun Math activity that students can play with dice is called 'Roll the Dice!".  You can play this with just a regular die or you can get the big foam ones at the dollar store.  This activity can be structured for all ages.  For primary students, have them roll the die two times and add the two mumbers together.  They can all add the two numbers together, then roll the die a third time, using this number to subtract it from the first sum that they came up with.  For older students, they could multiply the two numbers together.

I hope that everyone is staying safe and having fun!

Hello Raiders!  I hope that everyone is staying healthy and enjoying their time with their families.  I just wanted to tell everyone that we miss seeing your faces but that we hope everyone is staying safe at home.  I have found a few online sites that students could use if they are looking for something new to try.  In reguards to Math, there is a pragram called "Iknowit" that is being offered for the next fews months for free.  You can sign up several children and they offer some really fun games and activities.  Also, Education.com is free during this time as well.  They offer various lesson plans, worksheets and guided activities for kindergarten up to grade 5 students.  You can complete most of these activities online or print off the worksheets if you have a printer at home.

If anyone ever has any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me by email at rosalind.donovan@nbed.nb.ca.  Again, take care and stay safe. :)
