Le 29 octobre
Students are bringing home their vocabulary in a binder this evening. We organized our work into categories today and a binder is easier to manipulate. Their personal dictionaries or vocabulary binder is meant to be a working, usable document. If students do not have French reading material at home they should be bringing something home from school each night to share with someone at home. The students are getting a stronger grasp of the math vocabulary and we are starting to move a little faster. They should however continue to work on their numbers at home.

Le 22 octobre
Students have several memo’s. They are bringing home another die to assemble at home and play with there. This could be one of the “instead of screen time” activities. They may need some help to assemble the die, I found mounting it to construction paper and stuffing it with a Kleenex made it sturdier. They should continue to practice the alphabet, numbers to 60 and les mots frequents.
Answers to questions on the die;
Quelle est la date aujourd'hui?
Nous sommes le …(22 octobre)
Quelle êtait la date heir?
Heir êtait le …(21 octobre)
Quelle sera la date demain?
Demain sera le …(23 octobre)
Épelle ton nom. (Spell your name.)
Liste les voyelles. (list the vowels)
Quels temps fait-il?
Il fait du soleil.
Il neige.
Il fait du vent. (wind)
Il fait froid.
Il fait beau.
Il fait du brouillard. (fog)
Il est nuageux. (cloudy)
Il pleut.
Il fait chaud.

5 Ways to STOP TRANSLATING in your head and BECOME FLUENT in French

Le 17 octobre
We have been very busy over the past few weeks as I am sure you are aware from the reading your child has brought home to share. In their homework tonight students are asked to continue practicing their first 16 sight words but for those who are ready to take things to the next level they can practice spelling them (in French of course)
It is very important that they continue practicing their numbers and are able to point them out quickly when they hear them and name them quickly when they see them.
I am uploading an interesting video for parents with some wonderful strategies to give your child extra support or enhancement with the language. I really like this women’s videos and have found the ones I’ve watched helpful.

We had a great time at the corn maze today. We also talked about Thanksgiving and the things that we are grateful for. Most students have a book called “Le souper de l’action de graces” to practice reading. We were a few short so if they don’t have one they will bring it home over the week-end to share with you.

We will be leaving the school tomorrow directly following the announcements for the corn field. Weather permitting! As of now it looks ok. We are asking for $3 from each student to help cover the cost. If any parents would like to join us the cost is $10 per person, children under 3 are free.

Le 28 septembre
The month of September flew by and it is amazing how much your children have picked up in such a short time. We played memory and bang during morning circle and they were flying through the 19 sight words we have covered with ease. The numbers are giving the students a little more trouble however. We will stop at 50 and practice these numbers for the next week or so. We will be going to the corn maze on Thursday morning at 9, weather permitting. Students need to bring in $3 each to help cover the cost.

Le 27 septembre
We had a great walk this afternoon. The boys and girls are probably tired. They have some reading to do and need to bring their Phys. Ed. clothes tomorrow. Have a wonderful evening. Don’t forget that it is orange shirt day tomorrow in memory of those who went to residential schools.
