Mr. Methot

This page will keep parents/guardians of 6M FI informed and updated.

I found a couple of fun math activities that practice identifying and plotting points in the 4 quadrants of a Cartesian plane, but they give you a chance to combine some drawing into the math learning. Feel free to check them out!

Here is the video and activity card of the events for Day #2 of the Virtual Olympics!

Below I have attached an activity card with the descriptions of the 3 events for Day #1, along with a scorecard to record your results for all 15 events for this week.

I will be posting on here each day with the activity card and video for that day's events.

Good luck to everyone who is participating, and have fun being active and being outside!

Here are some more fun math activities for this week that you can try out! Make sure to look at the last page for the middle school tasks. The probability challenge of rolling a die would be a great extension activity for 7M students since we just finished learning about probability during the past couple of weeks!

Good morning Raiders!

Should be another gorgeous week of sunshine coming our way (maybe with some thunderstorms mixed in there too!). Here are some activities this week for 7M and 6J. I hope you enjoy them!

A few reminders:

1. 7M we will have our weekly class call Thursday @ 2pm.

2. Don't forget to check your other teachers' pages as well. 7M this is now technically your music block for exploratory, so Mrs. O'Neill-Delano encourages you to check out her teacher page for some fun music learning opportunities!

3. 7M parents please email me before Friday if you are interested in purchasing a yearbook and have not already.

4. Here is the link to upload Home Learning/COVID-19 pictures of families and siblings for the yearbook:

Take care everyone! :)

I hope everyone is having a nice week and enjoying the heat outside, I know I sure am! Just a few things I wanted to mention...

1. If you haven't yet registered for the Virtual Olympics, it is not too late! It begins on Monday, May 25th, so fill out this form if you are interested and haven't yet! It is sure to be a blast and a fun way to get outside and stay active!

2. If any 7M families would like a copy of the yearbook, please email me and let me know as soon as possible. 6J families you can contact Mme. Yake if you would like a yearbook.

3. For the yearbook, we are looking at having a section for photos from COVID-19/Home Learning. It would be great if each family could upload a picture or two of family/siblings at home to the following link. Wearing school colours is encouraged as well!

That is all for now, thanks!

Here are the game themes for this week:

Monday - Fractions

*Sorry I'm late posting the themes this week, for some reason I never received an email on the weekend to update me on the upcoming week's themes. Have fun! :)

For students in 6J and 7M, our classes are registered on DreamBox. This gives you another resource to practice math lessons/concepts. It is a reinforcement to Netmath, which will still be the main website I would like you to learn on since it provides lessons in French. Check out the corresponding file below for your class and the steps to access your account, with the necessary class code.

6J: Once you log into the site, you will see that I have assigned a couple of lessons that focus on percents, similar to the ones you've been practicing on Netmath. These lessons will help to reinforce what we've been learning during the past couple of weeks. Look for the lessons marked with a blue calendar.

7M: Once you log into the site, you will see that I have assigned a couple of lessons that focus on points on a cartesian plane. There were no available lessons on probability, therefore these lessons are a preview for what we will be focusing on next week. Feel free to give them a try in the meantime. Look for the lessons marked with a blue calendar.

Here are some fun, hands-on numeracy activities that have been compiled by the district that you can try as well! Be sure to look at the last page of the documents for the middle school tasks. I have included this week's and last week's documents. The outdoor challenge to measure the height of a tree seems really interesting, I'm curious about that one!

Enjoy!
