We have Phys.Ed twice a week. Once on Monday and again on Thursday. Students will need to have a change of clothes and a good pair of sneakers. Let's get active and have fun!

Hello everyone and welcome to my room. Boy it sure was great to see how much everyone has grown over the summer holidays. I would love to see people checking into this page to see what is happenig in our room and for homework as well.
I am very excited to be teaching grade three and to see what we all can accomplish this year!!!

Just a reminder for parents that Friday is Anti-bullying day and everyone is to wear blue that day.
Also our class pictures are in and the cost of those are $4.00.
On Tuesday Nov 23rd is "Play With Your Food Art Show" so we will need you to help your son or daughter with their Art Project and bring it in on Tuesday. Some more information will be sent home soon and a package you can use to help make the character as well.
Book orders are due back on Thursday Nov 25th.

Take some time this week to visit the Star Fall site and listen to the catchy tunes of all the short vowels. This week we are learning what sounds the short vowels make and on this site under the ABC tab are all the videos and songs that go along with the short vowels.

For the week of Oct 18th to 21st.
On Monday we will be looking at where we will be planting our Tulips this year. We will have to get them into the ground before the frost strikes. Also on Monday we will be visiting the library for the Book Fair.
On Tuesday we will be having a normal day.
On Wednesday we will have our regular visit from Cynthia Hiller for our Roots of Empathy visit and Baby Sydeny will be coming. How exciting!!!
On Thursday we will be doing another Weather Report with Texas and hopefully this time we have all the technical problems worked out.
On Friday we have another normal day full of wonderful learning activities.
Gym this week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Don't forget to ask your child about how they are making our with Fast ForWord. We have started playing these games every day and they are doing well.
What a busy week we have planned!

Our class will be going to visit the Book Fair in the Library on Monday from 1:00 - 1:15. This is for viewing only and the students will be able to purchase books when our class visits the Book Fair again on Wednesday.

Our class will be starting their weekly weather reports with their pen pals in Dallas, Texas every Thursday.

We will be finally starting Fast ForWord on Tuesday, Oct 12th, 2010. I know
that all of our students will be very happy over this great news! Fast ForWord is software that our Nelson students are
lucky to have at their school. Since Nelson Rural is one of four schools that was chosen to be a site school for
Scientific Learning Company who made all the wonderful programs all of our students in the school are able to have
access and not just only the grade two classes. The Fast ForWord program develops and strengthens memory,
attention, processing rate, and sequencing—the cognitive skills essential for reading intervention program success.
All students benefit from playing these fun games.

Roots of Empathy is a program that will be starting in our room on Wednesday
Oct 13th, 2010. A permission slip is coming home with all the details on Tuesday. Please read it and return it on Wednesday. Our school has participated in this valuable program for the last 4 years. We are lucky to have it back again this year.
