This is a good site to help students remember that all sentences need an ending punctuation.  Also on this site there are two other great games that practise making sentences that make sense and the other one creates interesting sentences too. http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/starship/english/penguinsonice.shtml This is the link to access and it is also located at the bottom of my teacher's page on the second page of WEB LINKS.

Fire Safety Starting Oct 3-10 our students at Nelson Rural will be learning about Fire Safety from Stella the Safety Skunk and our local firemen.  Keep an eye out for a Fire Safety Booklet and make sure to send in your ballot to be Fire Chief for the Day.  Also take this opportunity to review the rules of fire safety at your house too.

Ginger went home with Alex this weekend.  He has also made visits with Thomas, MacKenzie, and Sarah.  I know that Alex is very excited about having him stay at his house.  I hope Ginger is on his best behavior and remembers to use his best manners. We will check in with Alex on Monday to see how Ginger made out.

Last week at our school the firemen stopped by to give us an update on the fire safety  rules.  Stella our safety skunk was very excited to see some of her old friends back to review the important rules of Fire Safety.  Laura in our room volunteered to show everyone how to STOP  DROP and ROLL and because of her wonderful demonstration she won a t-shirt.  Way to go Laura!  On Tuesday when we return to school we will refresh everyone's mind about how important it is to practise fire safety at home and school.  I also hope everyone remembered to check their fire alarms at home and to make and practise an escape route just in case there was ever a fire.

Today we had a our first video conference with Dallas, Texas.  It was a big success.  Our international project with Texas is very eventful and we started it today. We met our pen pals for the first time today. The students were able to share something about themselves and to ask a question to their pen pal. We also learned that our friends in Texas wear school uniforms.  The girls wear dresses and the boys wear a dress shirt and shorts or pants depending on the weather.   Soon we will be planting our Red Emperor Tulips next week and having our first live weather report as well.  This is where each student has the chance once a year to tell their Texas friends what the weather is doing on the Miramichi and our Texas friends do the same.  Every month we share and learn more about what it is like in each others community.  Stay tuned for more exciting news later in the month and the rest of the year.

Ginger went for a visit to Josh Jardine's house on the weekend.  On his return trip to Nelson he went for an extra little drive on the bus.  But not to worry he made it back to Nelson just in time to start the day off on the right paw!!   Stay tuned later this week to see what Ginger and Josh did on his visit to Josh's house.
