Thank you to my wonderful students who work hard and I enjoy their youthful spirits as they get so excited over the littlest things which makes me proud as they are filled with love and such caring for each other. It sure is a special place to be and I thank my lucky stars everyday.   Also I want to thank my staff too for being such caring and supporting people. They too set a great example for our students to follow. Nelson is an amazing place to work!!!   Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

Be sure to check out the Christmas Traditions from our Texas pen pals.

A big thank you goes out to the Home and School for allowing us to learn in new ways. Our friends in Dallas, Texas have been using yoga balls for a few years now instead of their standard chairs. So this year we are giving it a try as well. There are many benefits to using them. In our first week we are loving them and we will let you know how it goes as the year progresses.

We will be receiving our Texas pen pal letters next week and we will have to write back to them. This will be a great writing activity. Also we will have to make them some Christmas cards and decorations to send before as it will be Christmas break before you know it.       The Play With Your Food Art Show was a big success! The kids who participated did a great job and the older students had a terrific time going through the display as well! There were many wonderful characters for all to see. Glad to see them being composted this year and the rest were taken home to enjoy. Can't wait for the show again next year.       We ordered our new chairs for our room. They will be a great help to building up our core strength and helping those who like to wiggle in their chairs to stay more focused as well. Our buddies in Texas have been using them for over 3 years now and they really enjoy them. So we will try them out soon too. Stay tuned and we will post a picture of our class with their new chairs.

This month we celebrate Taylor's birthday on Nov 4th and Ty's birthday on Nov 24th!  Happy Birthday Boys!
We have gym this week on Mon. Tues and Wed.             Also on Monday this week we will Skype with our Texas friends about all the wonderful activites that we do at Nelson like planting Tulips, learning how to write over one whole page and that we will be participating in some fun Halloween activities this week as well.         Fall is sure here now, especially in the mornings. Make sure we are dressing warm with our hats and mits as we usually have some frost on the equipment as we are next to the river and our temperatures are a little cooler than at home.       Music is on Mon and Fridays.  Enjoy your week everyone!!!
Halloween will be on Wed and at school we will be dressing up in orange and black only. Please do not send your child to school dressed in a costume. We also will be having some fun games and activites as well. If you plan on sending in a treat please remember that our school is NUT free and all treats will have to be carefully chosen.

WISHING ALL MY STUDENTS A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING WEEKEND AND I CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE YOU ALL BACK HERE NEXT WEEK.   HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Starting tomorrow we will participate in a WEEK OF WELLNESS . Each day there is an event that will promote wellness so have a look at the memo that went home today to see what is coming up.         Picture retakes are on Oct 2nd. Please send in a note if you want your child to have theirs re-taken.       Coming up next week is Fire Prevention Week on Oct 8th. The firemen and Spot the dog will be in our school refreshing our memories on how to be safe at home when it comes to fire.         Each week we have Phys.Ed on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.         Finally we have Library time on Thursdays so try hard to remember to bring back your books on Wednesday night when you are packing up your homework for Thursdays.
There will be no school on Friday as we are having parent teacher interviews on Thursday evening and again on Friday morning.  If you need to come see me please do.
We will be going skating again at the Civic Center on Thursday.  Please bring your skates, helmet and some warm mitts.  If you have ski pants that will help too.  It is going to be a lot of fun so don't forget.
