This article is very informative on why schools use to have gardens and why they moved away from them as well. Now they realize the importance of them and why we should get our younger generations involved. Please read it you will not be disappointed.
Ms. Baldwin's Grade 8 International Students from Brazil; Emille, Breno and Julio, had a very successful first time bass fishing across the road from Nelson Rural School. In total, the students caught seven striped bass with Emille catching the largest. All three students had a great time thanks to one of our custodians, Buddy O'Toole, who was gracious enough to take them before his shift at school.

A big congratulations to our two Nelson Catapult teams who competed in the ASDN Annual catapult challenge on Saturday! Both teams did an amazing job! Our elementary team brought home 2nd place after competing against 15 other teams in the district. They also won the optional challenge of recording their process building and data recording of their catapult build. We want to thank all the volunteers, students, teachers and parents for all their help for making this a successful event! Go Raiders! Check out our photo album for the Catapult Challenge!
Our annual Terry Fox Walk took place this Thursday at 1:00. Our event was coordinated by Grade 8 leadership students with the help of Ms. Baldwin. This year we raised the most for the Terry Fox Foundation than we ever had, with about $2000 for this intitiative. The students put forth a challenge that if they reached their goal of $1500 that the teachers would face off in a lip sync battle. Our assembly was enjoyed by all. Great job Nelson Rural.
