Congratulations to all the candidates running for Nelson Rural Student Council! Voting took place on Friday Oct. 15th. Counting of the ballots was completed on Friday evening.
The new council for 2010 - 2011 are:
President: Isaac Henderson
Vice President: Chaz Savoy
Secretary: Ryan Doyle
Treasurer: Justin Allain
Mr. Henderson, Mrs. Woods, and Mrs. Sullivan-Goguen are very excited to work with this group to ensure that Nelson Rural has a great school year!!
Nelson Rural will be hosting its first Book Fair of the year running from October 18th to 21st.
Students, staff, and parents are encouraged to check out the wonderful books available.
Family night will be Wednesday Oct. 20th from 6 - 8pm. Don't forget to fill out your ballot for a chance to win $50 worth of books.
NOTE: K - 3 students are reminded to return their colouring page by Monday October 18th.
Students and staff in grades K-3 will be heading to Croft Elementary on Friday October 15th for the District Heritage Fair. This will be a great opportunity for everyone attending to experience cultures from past to present!
Students are reminded to bring a packed lunch(no microwave items) and dress appropriately as several of the exhibits are located outside in the Croft Forest Classroom.
The Heritage Fair will run from 9:30 am to approximately 1:15 pm. To help with costs students are asked to bring $2.
This is a reminder to staff, students, and parents that picture retakes are scheduled at Nelson Rural for Thursday Oct. 14th.

Nelson Rural School Student Council Elections will begin on Tuesday October 12th and finish on Friday October 15th. Potential candidates are reminded to return their application form to Mr. Henderson by the 12th of October.
Voting will take place on Friday October 15th with the winners being announced on Monday October 18th.

The kindergarten classes of Mrs. Poole and Mrs. Sullivan-Goguen recently visited McAllister Farms where they experienced the labours of growing apples. Both classes returned with plenty of apples for each student at Nelson Rural.
Will there be warm apple pies?? Stay tuned!!

Nelson Home & School will have their first meeting on Tuesday, October 5th at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.
We will be electing a new executive.

Students, staff, parents, and community members participated in the annual Terry Fox Walk. Congratulations to everyone who participated and a huge thank you to Ms. Baldwin and Mrs. Sullivan Goguen for all their hard work preparing for this extremely important event!
