The Miramichi Kinsmen and School District 16 are pleased to
accept film entries for the second annual Kin Film Festival. All School
District 16 students are invited to participate. Films can be submitted
in one of two categories: Open and The Kinsmen Category (The Communities Greatest Need). The top 10
films in each category will be screened on May 12th, 2012 at Miramichi
Empire Studio 5. Cash prizes of $500, $250 and $100 will be awarded for
the winners in each category.
On Thursday June 23rd 2011 Nelson Rural School held the annual Academic Awards. Staff would like to congratulate all the winners and wish everyone a wonderful break!

On Wednesday June 22nd Nelson Rural presented various sports awards to deserving athletes. Congratulations to all the winners and everyone who participated in sports this past year.

This is a note to students and staff the the cafeteria will be CLOSED for business on Tuesday June 21st. Students will need a packed lunch.
The cafeteria will reopen on Wednesday June 22nd. Nelson Rural and the cafeteria staff apologize for any inconvenience!
The Grade 8 Banquet/Social will take place on Thursday June 16th beginning at 6 pm. Students wishing to take pictures at the school prior to the banquet may do so between 5;30-6:00 pm.
NOTE:
Following the Banquet there will be a Social/Dance in the cafeteria running from 8 pm to 10 pm. Students are reminded to have their drives arranged for pick up promptly at 10 pm. There will be no tickets for the dance sold at the door!
CONGRATULATIONS GRADE 8'S....CLASS OF 2011!!!
The Nelson Rural School Year End Social/dance for Middle School will take place on Thursday June 16th from 8:00 - 10:00 pm in the cafeteria!
Tickets for the dance will be sold in advance only from June 8th-10th at noon in the canteen by Student Council.
The cost for tickets is $5 for the grade 6-7 students and free for the grade 8 graduating students.
A REMINDER to parents/guardians that your child is asked to return their permission slip and $5 for the upcoming grade 8 trip to Hopewell Rocks and Fundy National Park to their homeroom teacher ASAP.
Students will leave this Friday June 10th at 8:00 am and return to the school at approximately 7:00-7:30 pm. Please ensure that arrangements have been made to pick your child up at the school. Remember that the times mentioned are only approximate.
The grade 8 students will be heading to Hopewell Rocks and Fundy National Park on Friday June 10th. This will be the year end trip for the grade 8 students in recognition of their successful completion of K-8. Everyone at Nelson Rural is very proud of all the grade 8 students and wish them all the best as they enter the next phase in their academc career!!

Nelson Rural School recently hosted the Regional Heritage Fair on May 26th. Projects from from various District 16 schools were on display for students, staf, and parents to view and enjoy!
