Good Morning Everyone!

I hope you had a good day yesterday and enjoyed the sunshine!

Here are some activities for today.

Calendar/Weather - We do our calendar and weather every day. Use a calendar if you have one at home, or I have attached a November Calendar page at the bottom and in the Documents section. Go over the day, date, month and year. What day of the week is tomorrow? What day of the week was yesterday? There is a link below for the weather network, or you can check the Weather Network on TV. There are questions on the link to use.

Word Work - Sight Words - Keep working on the list you are at until you can read all words, without any problems. Once you know all the words, get someone at home to sign the page and you can go to the next list. Spelling - Have someone at home call out the words to you, and you can spell them on the spelling page for that list in your book. Once you can read and write these words it will also help with your reading and writing. In your blue book try the Word Work - Middle Sounds - Vowels (a/e/i/o/u) - B section. Look at the picture, say the word, what sound do you hear in the middle? If you have crayons, you can colour the pictures.

Reading - Pick one of your levelled books to read. Choose a story book to share with someone. One from the kit, one of your own or you can check out the Tumble Books site. Also there are some Remembrance Day poems, added below that you can also read. Use the strategies we have been working on to help with your reading. Make sure you record what you read on the log sheet.

Writing - Blue Book - Today try the Sight Words - List B - Sentences. Pick 5 of the 10 sight words and write a sentence for each one. Remember a sentence tells a whole idea and begins and ends properly. For a challenge, try to use more than 1 of the words in each sentence.

Squiggle Park - If you have access to a device, go on and play fro 15 minutes. Your code and password are on the front cover of your agenda.

Math - Warm Up - Jack Hartman Video - Count, move and exercise. If you can't get the video, count and move on your own. Today try counting by 2s. If you have a few other people at home, try Count around The Circle with them. Count by 2s to 30. Whoever says 20 or 30 are out. In your blue book, try the math page: Numbers - Counting In Dfferent Ways; by 1s to 30/ 2s to 30/ 10s to 100/ Backwards by 10s from 100. Play one of the math games from your kit. Today try, Fall Roll and Bump. All the materials you need are there.

Dream Box - If you have access to a device, go on and play for 15 minutes. Do the activities with the blue star first. Your code and password are on the front cover of your book.

STEAM Time - If you haven't done an activity yet and you have time today, check out the choice board and choose one to do for the week.

Outside Time - We are off to a frosty, sunny start to the day! It is supposed to warm up as the day goes on. Dress for the weather and head outside to explore, run and have some fun!

Veteran's Week/Remembrance Day - This week is a time for us to remember the sacrifice, courage and service of our Canadian Veterans, Soldiers and Forces. A poppy is a symbol to remember and never forget, those who sacrificed for our freedom. Today for Art, create your own poppy or a field of poppies. Use whatever materials you have available at home; crayons, markers, pencil crayons, paint. When you are done, hang it up somewhere in your house. This will be a reminder for you to remember and say thank you, whenever you see it. As well there are Remembrance Day poems added below.

Have a super day Grade 2! I miss you and hope to see you soon!

If there is anything I can do to help, or you have questions about any of the activities, please send me an e-mail. I am available throughout the day. Thank you for your support at home.

Weather

You can check the weather for Miramichi. What is the temperature now? What is the high for the day? What is the difference? What is the high for the week? What is the low for the week? What kind of weather week will it be?

As we are not back at school yet, please hold onto your pledge sheets for the fundraiser until we return. If you have not had a chance to collect pledges from friends or family yet, you still have time. All money raised goes to Student Council to support student activities. We will keep you updated about this fundraiser. Thank you for your support.

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope that you had a fun weekend and got out to enjoy the beautiful weather!

Here are some activities you can work on today, to go with your Home Learning Kit.

Word Work - Sight Words - I hope you are moving along with the lists. Practice the list you are working on. Remember you should be able to read each word on the list right away. Spelling - Practice the word list you are doing on the page in your blue book. Only move on to the next list when you can spell all words on the list. Try the word work page in your book - Sight Words - List B - Word Scramble. You have to unscramble all 10 sight words and spell them correctly. If you get stuck, look back at the word list on the purple sheet.

Reading - Pick one of your levelled books to read. Remember you have some in the kit, and also the ones in your homework reading bag. Choose a story book to share with someone. One from the kit, one from home or you can check out the Tumble Books site, the link is on the class page. Use your strategies to help with reading and make sure you record the books you read on the log sheet.

Writing - Journal - My Weekend - Write 4 good sentences about your weekend. Talk about it first with someone at home, so you can recall details. Remember that every sentence tells a whole idea and needs to begin with a capital and end with (., !, or ?). Add a picture to go with your writing. Use the word sheets in your kit to help.

Squiggle Park - If you have access to a device, go on and play for 15 minutes. Your code and password are on the front cover of your agenda.

Math - Warm Up - Jack Hartman Video - Move/exercise and count. Try counting forwards and backwards by 10. If you can't get the videos, you can move and count on your own. In your blue book, try the Numbers and Operations page Even and Odd Numbers. You have to colour the pictures with an even number orange and the pictures with an odd number yellow. If you don't have crayons, put an x on the even numbers and circle the odd numbers. Play one of the math games from the choice board in the purple folder. The materials you need are included.

Dream Box - If you have access to a device, go on and play for 15 minutes. Remember to do the activities with the blue star first. Your code and password are on the front cover of your agenda.

STEAM Time - Check out the Choice Board in the Documents section. Pick one activity to do for the week. It will be posted below as well.

Outside Time - We have really lucked out with the weatehr over the past week. Today looks like another nice one! Dress warm and head outside to explore, run and have fun. Can you see any animals getting ready for winter? What do the trees look like now?

Veterans Week/Remembrance Day - This week is Veterans Week. A very important week to honour the service, courage and sacrifice of our Canadian Veterans, Soldiers and Forces. Please take time during the week to remember and say thank you. There are some activities and a website added below. I would ask that you do an activity during the week. Today November 8th, is Indigenous Veterans Day. Please take 2 minutes of silence during the day to remember and say thank you.

Have a great day Grade 2! I really hope to see all of you soon.

If you need help with anything or you have questions about the activities, please send me an e-mail. Thank you for all of your support at home.
