Good Morning Everyone!
Happy Friday! I hope you had a good day yesterday!
Here are some activities you can work on today.
Word Work - Sight Words - Practice the list you are working on. The more we work on these words the better we know them. Once you have all the words in one list, move on to the next one. Spelling - Once you know the set by sight, start working on spelling the words. Practice your spelling on the sheet in the blue book. These are words we use a lot in our speaking, reading and writing. Try the Sight Words - List B - Word Search page in your books. Look for all 10 sight words in the puzzle. Write them in the boxes as you find them.
Reading - Choose one of your levelled books to read. Share a storybook with someone at home. Check out the Tumble Books site if you are looking for more books. Use your strategies to help with your reading. Don't forget to add the books you read on your log sheet.
Writing - Journal - Today you can write about your favourite animal or a topic of your choice. Write 4 good sentences that tell good details about the animal. Make sure your sentences tell a whole idea and begin and end the right way. Draw a detailed picture to go with it. Use your word sheets to help with your writing.
Squiggle Park - If you have access to a device, go on and play for 15 minutes. Your code and password are in the front cover of your agenda.
Math - Warm Up - Pick a Jack Hartman Video to count and move to. Try Counting backwards from 100. You can count, move and exercise on your own too. Try the page in your blue book, Counting and Comparing and Ordering Numbers to 30. We have done work on numbers that come before, between and after. Play a math game from the purple folder. Today try Rollin For Acorns. This game is in one of the plastic sleeves. The materials you will need to play are there too. Have fun!

Dream Box - If you have access to a device, go on and play for 15 minutes. Your code and password are in the front cover of your agenda.
STEAM Time - If you haven't done a STEAM activity yet check out the STEAM Choice Board in the documents section on the class page and try one.
Outside Time - what a great weather week we have had so far! Today is calling for another sunny day, but a little on the cool side. Dress warm and head outside to run, play, have fun and explore!
Have a wonderful day Grade 2 and a fun weekend! I hope to see you all soon!
If there is anything I can help with, or you have any questions about the activities please send me an e-mail.
Thank You for all your support at home! Have a great weekend!

We do the calendar and weather each day. If you have a calendar at home, discuss the day of the week, month, date and year. What day of the week is it? What was yesterday? What will tomorrow be? Check out the weather! What is it like outside today? What is the temperature? What is the high and low temperature for the week. We do lots of different math activities with the calendar and weather. If you don't have a calendar, I have attached one here that you can use.

Good Morning Everyone!
Happy Thursday! I hope you enjoyed the beautiful sunny day yesterday!
Here are some activities you can work on for today.
Word Work - Sight Words - Practice the list you are working on. I know we have already done work on these lists, but we just get better at them the more we work on them! If you have done the A,B, & C lists, i'ts time to work on D. Make sure you can read each word right away. Spelling - If you can spell all the A word lists, move on to B. Practice spelling on the page in your book. Only work on one list at a time. Try the Word Work page in your book on Blends (sp, tr, sh, pl, st, ch). Look at the picture, say the word. What 2 sounds do you hear at the beginning? We have just started doing more work on blends. Give it a try and see how you do. At the bottom of the page, pick 2 of the words and write a sentence for each one. If you have crayons you can colour the pictures.
Reading - Choose one of your levelled books to read. Pick a storybook to share with someone. Use the strategies we have been working on to help with unknown words. Record the books you read on the log sheet. There were only 3 levelled books in the home learning packs, but you have your 4 reading books for homework too. Remember it never hurts to read a book more than one. It is good practice for our fluency.
Writing - Journal - Choose a topic from the Ideas page to write about, or a topic of your choice. If you got outside to play or explore yesterday, you could write about that. Try to write 4 good sentences, that begin and end properly and tell a whole idea. Add a detailed picture to go with your writing. Use the word sheets in your kit, to help with your writing. Stretch out those bigger words you don't know, and remember every word has to have vowels.
Squiggle Park - If you have access to a device, play for 15 minutes. Your code is in the front of your agenda.
Math - Warm Up - Jack Hartman videos, count and move or count and move on your own. Try counting by 2s and counting by 10s forwards and backwards. In your blue book try the page on Numbers and Operations - Comparing and Ordering Numbers to 20. We have done lots of work on this. See how you do! Choose a game from the math board in your purple folder. The materials you need to play the games are there. Today try the Dice Game - Who can make the greatest number? This will help with place value, which we have been working on.

Dream Box - If you have access to a device, go on and play for 15 minutes. Your code and password are on the front cover of your agenda. Remember to do the activities with the blue star first.
STEAM Time - If you didn't choose an activity to do from the choice board yet, have a look and pick one to do. Have fun with it!
Outside Time - It is calling for another sunny day, but a little cooler. Dress warm and head outside to explore, move and have fun!
Have a super day Grade 2! I hope to see you soon!
Please contact me if I can help in any way or if you have any questions about the material. Thanks for your support at home!

Spelling - Work on spelling the list on the page in your book. Remember, don't move to the next list until you know them all. Only work on one set of words at a time. Try the Word Work - Middle Sounds - Vowels (a,e,i,o,u) page in your book. We have been doing a lot of work with vowels. Look at the picture, say the word, what vowel sound do you hear in the middle? Colour the pictures if you have some crayons.

Remember to tell good details, and begin and end your sentences the right way. Every sentence has to tell a whole idea. Use the word sheets in your purple folder to help with your writing. Draw a detailed picture to go with it when you are done. Remember a picture can add to our writing and give more details.
Squiggle Park - If you have access to a device, go on and play for 15 minutes. Your code is on the front cover of your agenda.
