Good Wednesday Morning! Another cold day! Too cold to be outside - hoping for warmer days in the near future. :) It was great to see a lot of you yesterday!! I've missed you. I heard a few more are going to join us today. :)

Today's riddle: Tom was asked to paint the apartment number on 100 apartment doors, which means he will have to paint numbers 1 through 100. How many times will he paint the number 8?

Good Morning, Everyone! Happy 2022! :) It's a frosty one! I was going to suggest getting outside for 30 minutes but I think it's too cold today. Brrrr!! Maybe tomorrow???

Good morning, everyone! It is Friday, November 12th. It's a cold morning! The day is going to bring sun and cloud, and it looks like rain for the weekend. I guess it's time to dig out all our winter gear! I'm looking ahead to next week's forecast and I see SNOWFLAKES!! YIKES!!

LITERACY

Read - 15 minutes - log it.

Spelling Test - double oo words. Since we aren't at school, this is how we are doing our test. Follow the steps:

1. Look over your words for 5 minutes. Now put agenda away.

2. Grab a piece of paper and a pencil. Write down the numbers from 1 to 15, plus BONUS.

3. Now write down your 15 words! Use your memory! Think! Think! Think!

4. When finished, check your own work. How many did you remember? How many did you spell correctly?

5. BONUS: Another oo word: During Math Workshop we use _______ Cards.

 

MATH WORKSHOP

Warm Up: Spot the Difference - see separate post

Boom Cards (20 minutes)

Sheet - The Hungry Alligators. Remember, the open mouth eats the larger number. You are destroying the big guy!

Sheet - Comparing Numbers

Play the card game Memory. A deck of cards has 52 cards. Take out the red cards. You should have 26. The other 26 are black. 26+26=52. Doubles plus 2!! Now turn your red cards over, and try to find pairs. The person with the most pairs wins the game! Have fun! :)

Good Wednesday Morning, 3H! I hope everyone is doing well! :) As I'm sure you know, tomorrow is Remembrance Day. Today's home learning will focus on the importance of November 11th.

 

POPPY DID YOU KNOW?

1. The poppy is 100 years old.

2. Poppies grew on the battlefields.

3. The first poppies were made of silk.

4. We wear a poppy to remember.

5. The poppy inspired Canadian doctor John McCrae to write his famous poem "IN FLANDERS FIELDS".

6. The money collected from buying poppies helps veterans in need of wheelchairs and other medical necessities.

7. It is very important to wear a poppy from November 1st.-November 11th.

 

Please work in your Remembrance Day booklet. You might like to colour the cover. Practice reading the Remembrance Day word list. You may need help with the crossword but once you get the hang of it, you'll do great! :) Do as much as you can! I'd love to get pictures of the badge and coin for our Teacher Page.

Good morning, 3H! Another frosty one! Yesterday was a beautiful day, and I think today will be the same! Try to get outside for an hour. Maybe do some Ninja stuff or try the Art in Nature sheet from your new packet.

Writing- write an acrostic poem about AUTUMN. I will do a sample FALL acrostic poem to show you how it's done.

The poem will be about Fall. You can't repeat yourself. After each letter, write a few words about Fall. The first word doesn't have to be about Fall. In my sample I'll be starting with the letter F. The F word doesn't have to be frozen or frosty, it can be a starter word like for, four, find, friend....

Just a reminder that our School Liter-Action Fundraiser is underway. Students can collect pledges for the amount of time they read and are physically active. All money raised is used to support student activities. Please do your best to get some pledges. Pledge sheets are due back on November 9th. We will keep you posted if the date changes. Good Morning, 3H! It is Thursday, November 4th. I'm not sure if you've counted but in 50 days there is going to be a plump, white-bearded man in your home! Guess who?

LITERACY

Read for 15 minutes - log it

Grab a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle. On one side write 5 positive (good) things about home learning. On the other side write 5 negative (not so good) things. Keep these ideas in your head (or tuck your paper in your bookbag), and we'll talk about it when we are back in class.

Good morning, everyone! It is Wednesday, November 3rd. We are about half way through the fall (autumn) season. Most leaves have fallen, and the air is getting cooler. You will definitely need hats and mitts once we are back at school! :)
