Welcome To Grade 2!

Posted: September 15, 2019

Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a fun and restful weekend!

Grandparents Tea - The students did a great job with their show on Grandparents Day! We had a great turnout. Thank you to all grandparents, parents and other guests who attended.

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Our library day is on Thursday. Make sure you bring your book back so you can sign out another one.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the orange folders. We are continuing with our sight word lists. Please make sure you sign them once your child can say each side of the page and return them in the folder so we can send the next sheet home. In math we are working on patterns and counting in different ways. For word work, we are starting to work on vowels. We are doing a review first and then will start focusing on each vowel. The students are working on getting back into writing. We are forgetting about beginning and ending sentences properly, so the writing homework is on making sentences. Use the picture and write a detailed sentence that begins and ends the right way. Please make sure that you are reading each night and record your book on the log sheet.

Field Trip - We will be going on a field trip to Fletcher's Farm on Monday September 23rd. A Memo will be going home this week with more information.

Meet The Teacher - Our annual Meet The Teacher event will be held on Thursday September 19th at 5:00PM. A memo will follow with more information.

Terry Fox Walk - Our annual school Terry Fox Walk will be held on Thursday September 26th at 1:00PM. The raindate is Friday September 27th.

Have a fabulous week!

Welcome To Grade 2!!!

I hope that everyone had a fun and relaxing summer! We had a great first week to the new school year and we are looking forward to a super year in Grade 2!

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this year are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - Our library day will be on Thursday. The students will be able to sign out a book each week, that they can bring home. They have to return the book each week, so they can sign out another one.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - Our Homework and Borrow-A-Book programs will be starting this week. The students will be bringing home a book each night to read to someone. For homework this week we will have our sight word lists. When the students can read all words on the list without hesitation, return the sheet signed and we will send a new one home.

Agendas - Our school agendas are going home each night, so you can be updated on events or activities that are going on. As well, the students will be writing their homework in them each day. Please read and sign the agenda each night, so we will know you have received the information. There is also lots of information about our school, schedules, calendar and policies at the front of the agendas, so please take the time to read it.

Grandparents Tea - Our annual K-2 Grandparents Tea will be held on Friday September 13th in the gym. Grandparents are invited to join us on Friday. We will have a short program and then they can visit in the classrooms. If a grandparent can't make it we ask that someone else come for them. (Parent, aunt, uncle etc...). A memo will be going home on Monday.

Meet The Teacher - This will be held on Thursday September 19th at 5:00PM.

School Supply Fee/Student Agenda Fee - Just a reminder that the fee for school supplies for the year was $20.00 and the Student/Agenda Fee was $10.00. Please send this in when you can, if you have not already done so.

Have a super week!!

Hi Everyone!

I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weekend we had!

It is hard to believe, but there are only two weeks of school left!

Phys. Ed - Our Phys. Ed days this week are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Library - We had our last library day last Tiesday. All books should be returned. If you did not return yours, please get it in this week.

Homework/Borrow-A-Book - The homework for the week is listed in the red folders. Our spelling words this week focus on the /ow/ word sound and the word work activity is on this as well. In math we are finishing up our work with subtracting 2 digit numbers and have started working on ordinal numbers. There is a reading comprehension story for this week as well. Read carefully, go back and reread, find the answers and underline them. Circle the right letter for your answer. It is very important that the students continue to read each night and record the book on the log sheet.

Sheree Fitch - We had a wonderful visit from author Sheree Fitch on Wednesday. She told us some stories, answered questions and gave us some good ideas to help with reading and writing. The students did some great art work in response to her book Pocket Rocks. Thanks for helping us with the Bedtime Reading Challenge!!

Credit Union - School Credit Union Day is on Tuesday June 11th.

Have a spectacular week!
